  1. We are now at the Embassy and i only JUST like 2 days ago recieved my choice of agent and adress form in the mail. Im not sure if anyone else has had this issue with the NVC or not? but from my experience i wouldnt put my faith in snail mail.

They emailed everything to myself and my husband very quickly.

We waited for them to contact us and they sent us 2 emails, one adressed to me and one to my husband, the first one contained my Choice of Agent form which i sent off via email. We then waited for them to generate the Fees and paid them (then we got an approved expedite so im afraid im not much use after that)

I dont think it would do too much harm in sending the paperwork since you already have a case number, but im one of those people that worrys too much and wouldnt send anything off untill they had told us it was needed lol If in dout, you could always call and ask the NVC :)

  2. may be embassy specific but when I requested my embassy expedited interview I emailed them a well worded email and attached the proof to the email of his deployment and the next day I had a response asking when I wanted my interview date. I emailed back with a few dates and they responded the same day with my interview date in the email.

Wow thats great! Thanks for the reply! I really hope i get a result like that in London. Im asuming you waited untill after your medical to file the expedite with them?

  3. how you become husband and wife if you haven't been lived together?

in my case we just lived with my hubby atleast 20-25days during the preparation of our wedding, he had only 3weeks stay in the philippines, thats what i wrote in that item, even you lived together for ten days is ok.

Legaly me and my husband have only lived together for 3 days on paper lol (which i felt so silly putting on the form, but its true lol we got our house together just before i left) even though we lived together in his barracks room for 3 months lol! Maybe they stayed with family though, because when my husband came to England we stayed with my parents!

  4. I remember freaking out when we were filling in the I-130, just take a deep breath and relax :) if you have never lived with your husband then i would asume "none" would be the correct answer.

In relation to your passport number, in my personal opinion i would wait for the new passport number because it would cause less complications, but i dont know for sure how it works, so hopefuly someone else can give you an answer that is a little more informed! :)

  5. i imagine they will give you more than 3 hours notice

    lol! Oh of corse! :)

Its just a case of booking trains and busses and things like that (its cheaper to book them in advance and my bank balance will be around the zero mark after my medical lol)

I would love to file the expedite since i do really need to be in the states right now, but if they only give me 24 hours notice then its just not really possible but if it was something like 3 days notice (or more) then i could probably manage to do it.

  6. We filed an expedite via phone with USCIS, they didnt ask for any proof, just took down the reason and then said to call back in a week, before we even got a chance to call back my NOA2 came in the post, we were just under 5 months into the process when we filed for an expedite so i dont know if the expedite is what got the petition approved or if they were almost done with the case anyways. We didnt have any referal numbers or anything like that though, we simply called them and they said they would pass the info onto someone else and to get back to them. Since you have only just filed i think the best thing to do is just be as patient as possible, i know its hard! Just follow there instructions to the letter and hopefuly you will hear something soon!

Im asuming you are going to want to expedite through out the whole process like we have so when you get to the NVC stage make sure to keep all the relevent documents to re send to them so you can get expedited as soon as possible :) We got through the NVC in about 2-3 weeks. Best of luck!

  7. Hey guys!

Sorry if this is in the wrong place or if it has been asked a hundred times (i did search first) but i was just wondering if someone could explain how an expedite at the embassy works?

I remember reading somewhere that if you apply to expedite then if they have a free appointment or a cancelation then they can offer you that slot. Is this true? & if it is does anybody know how much notice they give you in advance (because i live about 3 hours away from london and getting there can sometimes be an issue)?

    Thanks!

  8. In expedited cases, where the case file is sent to the Consulate incomplete, the beneficiary simply takes those two packages with them to the interview. Take copies with you so that after they look at the original documents, they can trade them for your copies instead of keeping them. Look for the Consulate to contact the beneficiary directly. Your case was expedited.

Thank you so much! I was hoping thats what had happend but i didnt want to asume anything!

  9. My husband and i have been gathering paperwork together to send off the two packages to the NVC, which we were planning to send monday. I had a few questions so i asked my husband to call the NVC for me tonight so they could assist, only to find that my case is no longer with the NVC but on its way to the US Embassy in London.

Ovbiously this wasnt what we expected to hear at all!

We filed for an expedite due to my husbands military mission and they said they would contact me once they had made a decision. Neither of us has heard anything from the NVC via post or email for about a week so we have no idea what it going on!

Does anybody know what is going on? & more importantly, what do we do now?

Any help at all would be greatly apriciated as not much has come up when i tried to search this (maybe i worded my search wrong.. i dont know) So sorry if this is an ovbious question i just dont understand why the NVC has forwarded the case before any of the paperwork has been sent.

  10. USArmy... this seemed exceptionally clear to me ->

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html

but that's part of the first link I provided.

What's up with clicking links, reading content?

If yer not on a PC, please get on a PC, sometime soonish? Reading VJ via a handphone is sometime problematic, for 'finding more info'.

Yes, thank you, i have just read in other places that originial documents are not required and wanted to double check i was doing the corrent thing. Its not that im being ignorant i just like to know exactly what im doing :)

  11. We are at this stage aswell and have no recieved any real "instructions" from the NVC on what to do next, we have been calling them and asking and they have said they are now waiting on the two sets of paperwork! They provided me with a website link in the email they sent me once the fees were paid though so have a quick look through your email and you should find it in there somewhere! :)

Also we have everything together but in some places i have read i need to send original forms and in some it states not to send originals. Does anyone know what the correct process is (we cant seem to get through to the option of speaking to an operator when we call the NVC anymore)?

  12. We have sent of photo copies of everything so far and we are at NVC stage now! So thats fine!

    photocopies with I-130 submittal

originals and a photocopy with NVC submittal, unless yer doing a DCF'd I-130.

I know I will need to bring originals in for the interview - who told you this? this is wrong, in general.

I was also told you need originals at the interview? Is this not true??

  13. I have just recieved the bill for my IV fee and i am designated as the agent on this case (I am British) It states that to pay the fee it has to be from a US bank account. Can i log in and pay online with my husbands bank details, or does it have to have my name on the account?

If anyone could clear this up it could save us a lot of time!

    Thanks!

  14. It states on the instruction page online that:

"Important Next Steps: Review U.S. Embassy/Consulate Specific Requirements and Options

E-Mail communication and other information technologies are now being integrated to eventually achieve an entirely paperless immigrant visa application process. New paperless processes which may be available or required for your immigrant visa case include being able to:

•Submit all correspondence to the NVC by e-mail with required documents and forms scanned and e-mailed to the NVC as attachments - Called Electronic Processing.

•Register an agent and submit the immigrant visa application fully online - Web-based Form DS-260, Online Immigrant Visa Application and Registration and Form DS-261, Choice of Address and Agent.

At this time, the availability of paperless processes is limited to certain selected U.S. Embassies and Consulates.

If you will be applying for an immigrant visa at any of the following U.S. Embassies or Consulates, you may be involved in a paperless process. See the below chart which lists the paperless processes by Embassy/Consulate where immigrant visa applicants will be interviewed. Click on the Embassy/Consulate name for further instructions:"

And my Embassy is not listen below, therefore does that not make us invalid for electronic processing or does that only apply to people who are filing directly through the embassy and not the NVC?

  15. Hey there! This is probably a question that is either really ovbious or have been asked a million times so i do apologise!

After months of waiting we have finaly recieved our first set of forms from the NVC! :D

Going over the paperwork what i am reading seems to be contradicting itself.

For my Choice of Agent form it states to email the form back to them and supply them with an email adress, however upon following the instructions on the website link it gave me it says i am unable to do it via email and have to do it via post/mail because i do not live in one of the selected countries?

If this is the case that is fine, but does that mean i still have to email them to request they contact me via email? Or can they not contact me via email at all?

If anyone could clear this up i would really apriciate it as i believe i am confusing myself more than i need to over this issue!

    Thanks!

  16. In the UK i didnt have to legaly change my name, when i got married in the US they asked me at the court house what name i would like to go by and said when i get home to just use my marriage liscence as proof of a name change. When entering the country make sure that her last names match her passport and her documents though! (it doesnt matter which one she uses aslong as everything matches) I had to get a new passport after i got married so i could fly back to the states for a visit.

  17. After months of waiting the NVC has finaly recieved my case!

Im one of those people that like the have everything in order so im trying to sort out everything i need to send over the next couple of months.

Looking at what i need to send for my IV Package, it says "Original/certified copy of divorce decree, death certificate, etc. of previous marriage, if applicable."

My husband (the petitioner) has been married before and we submited those papers to USCIS, but i have not.

Do we have to submit the paperwork again? Or are they just asking for MY Divorce papers?

It seemed like a silly question to ask but i know how one mistake can hold you back in your case so i thought i better ask as everywhere i have searched has not been clear to me.

    Thanks in advance :)!

  18. Hey guys!

So here is a bit of background.

I am a British Citizen & My husband is a US Citizen.

He is active duty military and has just been placed on the DCRF Misson.

My case has just been approved by USCIS and is currently on its way to the NVC.

I have read online it can take anywhere now from 3-6 months untill i get my interviw at the US Embassy.

Due to the mission he is on at the moment, do we have grounds to expedite and if we do how do we go about them?

He is currently not deployed, but he can be called up to mobalize within 6 hours and be gone for up to 9 months without prior warning for the next 2 years.

If this happens we will loose our home, our dog & probably fall into debt.

His Captain has agreed to help us with everything and anything we need but we just dont know where to start.

Sitting it out and waiting really doesnt feel like an option to us in these circumstances, but if that is the case we will just have to pray he does not get deployed.

Others peoples stories and questions from this website have been such a great help to us, but because this is such a specalised issue, i can not find anything about it online.

If anybody has any advice at all i would be very greatful to hear it.
