  1. My wife has her interview at the embassy this week for her IR-1 visa.

They sent us a letter that had a bunch of letters and codes at the end of what we should bring.

Is this all we need to follow or should we bring everything? I don't want to get there and have them so "oh by the way you need this document as well"

Will they ask us at the interview if we any other document or do they just take what we have and look it over later?

This is (HOPEFULLY) the final step so I want to be as sure as possible.

    Thanks everyone

  2. Well, just when I think it might finally be over, my wife needs to get a spectrum test for TB. The results will take 2 months.

What is the next step, since we have an interview scheduled in 2 weeks.

Do we still go to the interview?

Do we reschedule on our own?

I don't just want to skip the appointment but I'm not sure what to do next.

Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

  3. How long after the interview can we expect the embassy to deliver my wifes passport with the IR-1 visa?

We've heard different time lines, from 3 days to 1 month.

anyone who has done it recently please let us know how long they took.

    thanks

  4. We've been approved by the NVC and my wife has her interview in August at the embassy in Vietnam.

We needed a joint sponsor so we got a married relative to help us out.

Their income dropped from the the previous year due to change in jobs.

they make enough together in 2015, but individually they don't. (I used a 1-864a last time and the husband made enough the wife didn't)

To be clear, they made enough jointly to be meet 125% poverty guidelines, but it was a drop from the previous year.

The husband has gotten a government job (federal government), the last 4 months.

What would you do in this situation?

    1. just use the updated I-864/I-864a? for 2015

    2. Bring pay slips for last 4 months showing steady income

according the embassy, all we need is updated AoS for 2015, they didn't ask for ANY income from 2016.

Thanks...hopefully this will be the last stressful thing we have to go through for this visa.

  5. congrats! I'm in the same boat. My case was completed on 4/1 and I haven't heard anything back yet.

    Thanks!

I just got an email saying they everything was completed and they are scheduling the interview "usually within 60 days" of the completion.

so the interview can be scheduled between now and end of June, but not sure how long it will be util there is an open interview date.

    Good luck!

  6. I received a request for clarification from the NVC.

Its telling me that a signature on my affidavit of support needs to be signed. It was signed.

I called customer service and they said it must have not looked original (it is, I did not send the photocopy) to whoever reviewed it.

Has anyone ran into this? Can I call, ask to speak to a manager and maybe get them to ok it?

I would need to refill out my AOS and submit the form again, so that could be an additional month before its approved.

    thanks for the help.

  7. If the joint sponsor is combining income with a household member (and said household member has filled out an I-864A), then W2's are not necessary.

If an I-864A was not filled out, then you will receive a checklist.

Thanks, but what I want to know is if I should wait for the checklist from NVC, or send in documents I know they will ask for before I get the checklist?

  8. I have a married couple acting as my joint sponsor since I work overseas.

I have a transcript of their tax returns (filed jointly).

The NVC site says I don't need to include W2s if I have a transcript but I read on the wiki here that if they file jointly I need W2s to show each sponsors income.

Is this the case or will the transcript be enough?

    thanks
