  1. "Money from the government" isn't the same as becoming a public charge. Earned benefits like unemployment insurance and social security insurance do not make you a public charge because the recipient earned those benefits by working and paying applicable taxes. In any case, this is the U.S. citizen getting the benefits and not the alien, and U.S. citizens aren't subject to the public charge rule.

thank you i thought he would become one since he's just getting unemployment :)

  2. Hello, I just recently married my husband who is a USC. I came to the USA 7 years ago and would like to know if there would be any problem with it. I lost my i94 and my lawyers told me to send copies of my passport with the visa and the entry stamp on it. -->We did not have the money to get a replacement. Anyways, I just received a text stating that i WOULD get my work permit within 30 days. We applied in April 1st. How long would I have a GC in hand? Could there be any problems with this? I have heard of people with an overstayed their tourist visa that could not adjust their status? Much Thanks in Advance.

  3. hi,

My mom lost her i94 and passport. She arrived to the country 7 years ago with tourist visa, but she decided to wait here to get her green card. I got my citizenship this month and want to file her papers so she can became resident. Should I apply to replace the i94 first and after that apply for her resident card OR file to get her permanent resident card now and wait until Immigration ask me for the i94. My only concern is she is not legal now. Is it a problem if she submit the application to get a new i94???

    Thanks a lot
