I explained to them that my financial loss was due to the medical problems. I can't work right now and I have a long recovery period ahead of me ( my doc wrote about my work limitations) and the exorbitant hospital bills are a financial strain. So I explained on the phone that I was also in a significant financial bind.

The irony is that with all the wait time, I should have gotten my NOA 2 within a few weeks anyways ( that's assuming noa2 is sent exactly by the 5 month estimate)

Finally a silver lining in this process. I called last week to get my husband's I 130 expedited and actually got it. I requested an expedite based on medical reasons and financial loss. At first, they sent a letter stating they couldn't make a decision based on lack of info. My doctor was really nice enough to write a detailed letter explaining my situation.

Hi everyone. I'm new to the board. my husband and I filed the I 130 and got our NOA1 on October 31. We're probably in for a long waiting game, but thankfully have a co-sponsor for the I 864 and I plan to return to Egypt until we can return to the USA together. Since we are going to be together, we feel really laid back now about the process:) It's great to find others in our situation. I'm kind of sad to find out that I can't join him at the interview. Are USC never allowed in during the interview?

Thanks together. I filed in October but I'm not holding my breath on the NOA2 date to be exact. Thanks for the link

After reviewing some questions on here, I'm planning on getting my mom to co-sponsor my husband and I for the i -864. Hopefully I'll be receiving the NOA2 in possibly 2-3 months (fingers crossed). But I plan to be overseas at that time and will not be able to get anyone to forward my mail to Egypt, and quite frankly, I don't trust sending those documents over there since the mail can be a little sketchy. I know that I'm supposed to receive an email telling me when I'm going to get an NOA2. So, imagining there is no RFE, would the email contain enough info for me to just simply download the required forms? Or does the hardcopy contain a lot of detail info that would make it necessary to have the physical info they send to my USA address? Do you think I should hold off going overseas until I get the NOA2 hardcopy?

I filed on behalf of my husband back in October. In mid 2011, I quit my job of over three years to pursue study abroad in my MS program while living with my husband overseas. I'm back in the USA now and I just started a new job which I will use as proof of current income. However, it's a temporary job I don't plan on keeping but for a few months. My plan was to work the job long enough until I must file the I 864 and then return to live with my husband until he can get his visa. I do have a student program job I will start during late fall. But in the meantime I'll definitely be unemployed living with him while he awaits his interview.
Is it ok to quit after I've shown evidence of income? Or do I need to keep my job, stay here until he passes the interview?
