  1. Hi, my wife and mother in law are currently in the Ukraine (they are both Ukrainian citizens) and will be traveling from Kiev, Ukraine through the Amsterdam airport on the way to New York. My wife has her advanced parole travel document and my mother in law has her USA tourist visa. Has anyone recently had experience with this ? The question: is a transit visa needed if they are going directly to a connecting international flight? On the internet, we read conflicting stories about this and I dont want them to have any difficulty at the Amsterdam airport. I would appreciate any advice and clarity around this. Thank you !

P.S. As a side note, my wife's green card arrived in the mail here in the USA while she was visiting her Mom in Ukraine. She has a copy of her welcome letter and a copy of her green card with her as well.

  2. New message on the USCIS website today:

  3. Congartulations, GMa !!! We also got this notice on the USCIS website on Friday:

    Decision

On August 30, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

My wife was approved and the Green Card is in production ! It took 11 months but no interview and finally a decision from the NBC in Lee Summit, Missouri !

Good luck to everyone still waiting. Soon it will be your turn too !!!

  4. Everyone ,

As frustrated as we all get while we wait, take a moment on this our Independence Day, to think about the fact that we live in probably the greatest country on the planet. That's why so many people want to live here and why there are so many petitions and applications ahead of us. Let's reflect on how our country came to be what it is today and why we love it so much. Happy 4th of July to all our fellow VJ friends !

  5. Hi All,

Today we contacted USCIS to try to get an update on the status of my wife's i-485 AOS since our receipt date (Sept 25, 2012) is before the Orlando, Florida processing date (Oct 15, 2012). The USCIS operator filed a service request for us (she was very polite) and stated that we should get a response within 15 days from USCIS re: status.of my wife's application. She said that our application is at the National Benefits Center but USCIS actually contacts the district office in Orlando for the status report since the processing date is past our receipt date (?). We don't fully understand that process - maybe someone else does. Anyway, thats our update info and just wanted to share. Good luck to all and we would be happy to read of other filers' experiences. Take care everyone !

  6. Hi All,

Our receipt date for i-485 was September 25, 2012. We did an InfoPass appointment last week (in Orlando) and really didnt learn anything new. We did get confirmation that my wife's AOS file is at the NBC in Lee Summit, Missouri. Today, the District offices updated their processing dates and the Orlando office processing date for i-485's was bumped up to October 15, 2012. This is good news (I think) because now we are earlier than that date. The InfoPass rep assured us that the NBC processes by the receipt date of the district offices. We may call Customer Service later this week unless we hear something in the meantime. Either way, we'll keep our fellow September filers updated as we can. Good luck to all...

  7. Yes, I think you should go ahead and apply for afvance parole. We did not apply for it either when submitting the i-485 (Sept 25, 2012)and didnt dream it would take this long. I have read that you can apply to your local field office and get a quicker response for advance parole. I think we're looking at maybe July before we hear anything and you are about a month behind us if yours is being processed by the NBC. Good luck to you and keep us informed...
