  1. Just got home from Oakland. 951 new citizens from 94 countries today. It was easy we parked right across the street from the Paramount Theater and waited until they opened the doors. It was raining so we stayed dry. It stormed all the way to Oakland. Wind was blowing 50 mph so the ride was fun. Mariya is already calling her family in Cambodia.

good luck and a speedy finish to those who are still waiting.

    God Bless

    Sam and Mariya

  2. We are leaving early tomorrow and will be back late Tues. Will let you know how it went then. I am sure that rilian will have you all updated before we leave Oakland.

We are looking forward to getting this last step behind us. Maybe we will have a USCIS paper burning party when we get home. :jest:

  3. We got a room at the Hampton Inn right on San Francisco Bay in Oakland for the 4th of May. Too long of drive for just one day (400 miles). Mariya works for Hampton Inns so we got the room for $31. Our ceremony is at 9:15 on the fifth of May in the Paramount Theater.

Congrats to everyone on their oath dates. Just think we will be all done with USCIS. What will we do to fill the void. PARTY?

  4. If you have your 2008 tax returns take them. They asked for ours. We had not filed when we sent the application.

Also good to have your spouse with you. They came out and talked to me and took copies of my ID.

Good luck to you Broma25. It will be a piece of cake.

Thanks for that info. We have not received anything yet.

Do you know a good place to park and maybe ride bart to the Paramount. We are coming in from the north. We will have to get a motel and stay the night before the ceremony. My wife works for Hampton Inns and we are trying to get her boss to get us a room at the Hampton by the Oakland airport. He can get it for $29 with employee discount.

Maybe the letter will come today. Usually the letter seems to come on Saturday.

  6. Mariya passed her interview today with no problem. We were in at 9:07 and out at 10:35 am Ours was about the same as rilian described, except for one thing the IO came out to the waiting room and asked me for my ID. She took it and made a copy then came out and said we passed. I have never heard of them taking the husbands ID to copy. Now the only thing left is another 8 hour trip to Oakland for the oath ceremony.

We are very happy and very tired. It was a long two days.

  7. My wife has her interview Friday March 20th in SF. Just wondering if they have oath ceremony the same day. I heard they have some of the oath ceremonies in Oakland.

We are traveling 400 miles to get there and have to spend the night. Just don't want to make that trip twice. We lose two days work and it costs us around $300 to make the trip.

Thanks for any help you can give us.

  8. no touches on mine since Dec 18. We will be all done before they ever update us.

rillian: Do you think they will do the oath the same day as the interview. We do not want to make that trip again. It is a two day trip for us. Did you find a place to park. There are two parking garages within two blocks.

    768 Sansome St/Calif parking

    475 Sansome st.

We made hotel reservations for the 19th. It is easier than trying to drive into SF during rush hours. Our appointment is 9:30 AM
