That's still not a reason to reject a perfectly good tax return. You should read the full thread before replying you would have seen that I spoke to the NVC and the reason it was rejected is because as of last week they no longer accept any tax returns, only transcripts. Repeating it here so hopefully more people see before they submit docs as it doesn't seem as though the NVC has been letting people know.

I have quoted from your first comment regarding the subject. Yes, i have later read your subsequent comment which was a great heads up for everyone!

As a government entity, they should not make this "new requirement" retroactive! It is not fair to those that have submitted their documentation weeks ago and are still awaiting review of the same. There should be an effective date (ideally March or April 1st). This will also give them ample time to update all of their manuals/instructions and other resources accordingly.

There is stress/ hiccups at just about every stage in this process...smh

True. Mine is not being audited, but I was giving an example that the IRS doesn’t even know until years later that the information provided was in error or fraudulent, so a transcript is not anymore accurate than a W2. I just don’t see the logic, but of course I will do what they want.

Yup, they are catching many fraudelent returns for those that are claiming especially the earned income credit and additional child tax credit by holding such returns until mid February for verification etc. Its a part of the PATH act.

To further elaborate /using this example: lets say if a dishonest petitioner's income falls below the income requirements for their family size of 6.  In order to meet the I-864 requirements, they prepare a false 1040 and/or W2 and only include 1 of 6 or no dependents. But their actual return submitted to the IRS contains the 6 dependents and the real W2.

The NVC nor the embassy wont know that the 1040 and W2 are fake/inaccurate (unless they personally verify with SSA, employers etc).

In contrast, the tax transcript will reveal the facts and make it easier for them. Thus this new requirement (which is reasonable/understandable).

We/you may not see the logic because our returns are legit...

Yes my 2018 is higher than 2017..even though i Make over the requirements for both years but im from a tough embassy

Uploading your 2018 tax return under the required documents in ceac will hold you up. Rather, upload the return transcript for the most recent tax year (2017).

You can upload the W-2's for 2017 and 2018 under "additional documents" at the bottom. Better yet, also upload a job letter and paystubs to prove increased income for 2018.

The embassy will most likely requests the 2018 Transcript and/W2 at the time of the interview.

I understand that, but they are all government ran organizations. A tax transcript is not immediately available once you file your taxes. My transcript will not be available until June. The earliest someone can get a 2018 tax transcript if they expect a return or to not owe is 2-3 weeks after they file. I will submit what I can, that’s it.

You're correct! A RT is not available immediately after filing your return. As i mentioned above, It is immediately  available once a return is fully processed (the moment you get a direct deposit date). If your return is being audited or or held up because of other issues (wage or ID verification etc), a completed Return Transcript will not be available.

I guess that's all you can do is submit what you have and hope that they accept it.

2018 transcripts are not available. The government is just stupid and makes excuses for everything. They know they are not ready. A tax return used to be good enough, now they recently changed and will only accept tax transcripts unless you write a letter saying why you can’t obtain the tax transcript. If you send W2’s with your tax return they can clearly see if your income matches... SMH

Yup. In being objective, they dont know if they are ready or not. But they do know that if your tax return has been processed, a tax Return Transcript is immediately available. If your return is still processing,  a RT wont be available.

In reality, a copy of a tax return (1040) or W2 is not official. The Return transcript is. I've seen where the IRS have conducted audits because of substantial errors made on the 1040 etc. In some cases, the IRS adjusted such returns.

In regards to the I-864, i can see why NVC now requires official tax records (RTs for the most recent tax year 2017) from the IRS. The reason is to substantiate the reported income AND dependents as these "could" be falsified on a and W2 and 1040. So sad that some dishonest people have made it hard for the honest ones..smh

They gave no reason, here's all it says:image.thumb.png.8e4b60caec47ece855bddb30fb779de7.png

I really hope they don't force us to wait until the transcript is available. I only did 2018 because we couldn't find his 2015 W2 and couldn't get transcripts. I tried to call NVC but so many people are calling they won't even put me on hold.

They requested 2018 transcript because you have uploaded the 2018 tax return. So they assumed that your return has been fully processed and the transcript is now available. So i can see why they have requested it.

Once it says it is PAID which is about 2-3 bus days after you pay, all of forms are available to you right away to upload or fill out.

Make sure to always double check before you submit, like some mistakes are not signing or dating the document. Please go over them several times to make sure all documents are correct and complete. Upload documents horizontal, so right side up.

Sometimes it's unavoidable, I have another case which is CC right now but I had uploaded tax return and they still required a W-2 afterwards which is not neccarsily a rejection but additional proof they wanted.

Great info! Did you split the affidavit of support into 2 files to avoid exceeding the max file size?

So i finally called NVC and they gave me same repeatedly answer of 8 weeks ,so i was like its my 7th week so i would be expecting anything by next week and she was like no on next to next week by jan 16 .i was like that will be go into 9th week then she was like no 16 nov to 16 jan are 8 weeks ,every month have 4 weeks .i was like not really every month has 7×4=28 plus 2 or 3 extra days so 2 days from nov and 3 days from dec already make like 5 days extra and she was like no sir 16 nov to 16 jan going to be 8 weeks .Hahah i didnt understand her logic of mathematics, she was like no by 16 jan will make 8 weeks,i was like no that going to be 9th week and i was in my mind really where she went school,NVC really need to educate their people....😂😂😂😂😂

Exactly. The NVC always say "8 weeks". So obviously they are counting "weeks" and not months. If they were counting months, the agent would be correct.😀

  9. Yup, they have slowed down tremendously. During the week of Dec 17 & 24, 2018, they were assigning case #s for Nov 6 and 7 cases. Nothing since then (not one CN was assigned this week🤔). Geez, if they continue on that pace, they will complete the rest of November cases probably in February.

Now im wondering if SOME of the NVC staff were affected by the shutdown (of course they wont disclose this to us). 🤔This could be the reason for the slow down.

I am not being selfish,  but I have seen persons pd being 3/28 and was already approved and sent to nvc, and my date is 09/03, it does make you wonder.  I think that the country your from has a role to play too. Most of the approvals I see are from; Mexico,  Australia, Nigeria and  United kingdom.

That is also unfair. They said its based on PD.

But i noticed that the old website is reflecting 3/15 and 3/24 on the new one as the recieved dates. So i am thinking that 3/15 is when the sorting facility received it. And 3/24 is when the service center received it.

If this is the case, it may have pushed my form back by 9 days.🤔

It’s what I’ve always wondered. They work completely out of order. My dads like maybe they have a table with all the cases from the same month in random order and then each person just takes a few and does them until there done with the month and so on. I don’t know.

That could be it. But it would be unfair. Did you see someone with 3/28 PD just got a RFE yesterday? Thats a big jump from 3/15. I hope nothing is wrong with ours😣. If so, we just want to know.

  12. 1 hour ago, Layanis J said:

My PD is 3/15 as well and still nothing. I’m not quite sure how they approve yet. But we’re very close , I check on the case tracker app and numbers higher and lower than mine have been approved already. So we’re very close! Gotta hang in there ☺️. I’m really hopeful for next week!

Thanks for the encouragement! Yesterday, i called and they only could tell me what i can also see on the old website. I asked to speak to a Supervisor, but refused to transfer me and told me to wait. No update on the new website either.

  13. 6 hours ago, Layanis J said:

Everyone update there case tracker app , and search your case , there has been so many approvals since March 9th on. We were wrong , Nebraska hasn’t stopped , what they did stop was updating the app! We’re so close you guys!! Hang in there!

Thanks for this information! I had a feeling that was the case. But they have skipped over my case (3/15) and approved others after mine and now i am wondering why.🤔

  14. 9 minutes ago, Layanis J said:

For your first reason , I’ve been using the app ( case tracker ) to see all the approvals. After November 9th , there hasn’t been a single approval or RFE! Nothing. They have done nothing this week!

Yup. The case tracker/app is tied to USCIS online status check. If it doesn't update, the app wont update. Lets hope #1 is the case and our approvals just show up in the mail.🤗

  15. Its so strange not seeing any actions (approvals, transfers or RFEs etc)for this week) on the app. I'm starting to think that either:

    1. Cases have been adjudicated but they havent updated the online case status portal as yet.

    2. They are now in Thanksgiving mode and are relaxing until after Thanksgiving.🤔boo!

    3. They have met their quota for this quarter and dont see the urgency in picking up the pace.🤔 boo!
