Hi everyone,
My hubby and I are putting together our AOS package and so far we have some questions:
- We'd like to know if it's okay to print out our pictures together in a letter size sheet(s) or if we have to print them out in photographic paper. We have about 40 to 60 pics together.
- We'd like to know about the location of our marriage. Should we put the name of the city or the name of the county?
- We don't have any property leases or bank accounts in common but we have lived together at my husband's parents house for the last 6 months (even before our wedding). What else can we add to the evidence? We have wedding gifts (some money) from friends and family, lots of pictures and videos, witnesses to our relationship, personal receipts with the same mailing address.
- Do we make personal checks or money orders for the applications?
- We got a copy of our marriage certificate from the registrar office but we only have one. It has the seal of the office and signatures. I understand that the I-485 and the I-130 require proof of marriage, so can we just take a photocopy of this one and include it in the package. Or do we have to include two (2) certified copies of the wedding certicate?
That's it for the moment
Thank you in advance for your help

Hi everyone,
I have some questions about the I-485 and I hope someone who has been in my situation can help me.
1. On part 1, should I use my husband's last name or my maiden name?
2. On part 2, which option should I mark? should I mark a. an immigrant petition....... or h. other basis of eligibility........ My husband is an USC so I don't if that matters for this question.
That's all for the moment,
Thank you in advance for your help

I get it now. One more thing, Do I have to talk to the people in my school and let them know that I applied for AoS? or Do they "automatically" know that I'm no longer an F-1? I just don't want them bugging me and threatening me with letters.
By the way, thank you Little_My and NancyNguyen for your information.

Go ahead and file for a waiver. Check out this link. Those are the instructions for filling out. Read it well. A lot of people with j-1 and j-2 do that. Just fill out correctly your paperwork and it will fine.
good luck

That means, they(at school)can't tell anything or threat me with the Deparment of State, right?

Hi everyone,
I'd like to know of it's true that when you apply for AOS your current non-inmigrant visa becomes invalid. I have a student visa (F-1)and I'd like to know if I should stay in school while my process is pending.
Thank you in advance for your help

Hi everyone,
This is my story and I hope someone can give me some useful help. I came to this country with a J-1 visa (as an Aupair) in 2009. I extended my program and got another year on my visa (j-1 visa extension). This year my program ended but before that I decided to enroll in college as a full time student. Therefore, I was told to change my status and apply for a student visa (F-1). Everything went ok I got my change of status approved this last September and I started college. What I haven't told is that my boyfriend (he's American) popped the question right when I was doing all the change of status thing and of course I said yes!!!!!!. So we got married about a month ago and we talked about the possibility of sending all the paperwork so I could become a permanent resident (g.card holder). Right now we're looking at the contents of the packet and we're also collecting all the documents and letters. Anyway, what I'd like to know if we're doing things right. Our main concern is that I already had a change of status approved for a non-inmigrant visa and we don't know if it's gonna work. Does anyone have any suggestions, any comments or previous experiences that can help us? We appreciate any help.
Thank you in advance

Call uscis immediately!!!!!!!!!! you don't have to wait for the next one. They should be able to solve this problem for you. Also, if you go to the social security office you can take your marriage certificate so they can issue you a card with your maiden name. You shouldn't have any problem with that.
