  1. [quote name=Tama&Greg :)' timestamp='1361019963' post='5983803]

    Hi everybody!

Its been 8 days since my fiance was supposed to pick up his visa. Every times he goes to the Haiti messenger they give him a different day to come back to pick it up. My question is, If he doesn't get it today is there anybody i can call or email about the issue?

    Pleas and Thank you!

    Hi Tama,

They did the same thing to us. You should contact the embassy or CIVA. We found out we were in AP while they took their time verifying his documents. You can also check your status with the Dept of State. Haiti messenger does not know what's going on. Good luck!

  2. Yes we had money transfer receipts..he has a 9 and 8 year old..

She was surprise that he spoke english

she asked him where did he learn english he said in haiti

She aske him how many times did she visit you

he said 5 in DR and 1 time in haiti

she ask him how many kids i have

and there age...he said my son was 10 instead of 11

he ask about his kids where do they live

they ask him do he talk to my family he said yes on the phone

they asked why didnt we get married.. he said I want to marry with my family there.

they ask him what do he do for a living.. he answer them..

They asked him for his date of birth.

HE said he speak with my kids through skype..

I am sorry to hear you were denied. The US Embassy in Haiti is very tough trust me I know. However the money transfers may have been a red flag. I did not present any western union receipts at the interview. I didn't even mention sending money to him. Didn't want them to think negative about the relationship.

Is there a age gap between you and your fiancé?

  3. Now that I have my case numbers from NVC, should I email the embassy in PAP? Or just wait?

Did the petition just leave today? If so wait 2-3 days then email the embassy. Include the following:

Your PTP case # and your fiance's name in the subject line. In the body of the email include the petitioner and beneficiaries name dob, telephone #, email address. Tell them you request packet 3 by email to you and your fiancé. The turnaround time is usually 3-4 business days. Good luck!

  4. Thanks for the clarification. I already contacted NVC & got the case number. The woman said she was just finishing up the file (didn't know the person answering the phone was the same who actually did the filing). But then SOMEONE there entered his DOB wrong, so when I called back, they said it was wrong. I'm like "nuh-uh, I'm reading it right off the exact scanned copy of the application we sent you & THIS is the DOB... both forms". But they said, nope, we gotta send proof... to fix THEIR mistake? What?

So I emailed proof. Sent the scanned copy of the application AND scanned images of my man's passport ID page & birth certificate like they asked... and then I called back tonight & they said a week. A WEEK TO FIX THEIR MISTAKE!!!!! You gotta be kidding!

Argh. Anyhow. Nicely told the guy that I talked to, I know it's not his fault, but since SOMEONE there made the error, not me, then I expect it corrected in hours rather than days. He SAYS he forwarded a message to a supervisor to contact me with an update ASAP... we'll see.

Anyhow, I got info about the Packet 3 on VJ & so here's what my man & I have done so far:

    1. Assembled proof of on-going relationship.

    2. Getting financial info together.

    3. He's gone ahead with the police certificate, even though it appears that Haiti doesn't need it.

    4. Working on the medical appointment.

    5. Submitted DS-156 online & made copies (and emailed to both of us).

    6. Emailed Port-au-Prince U.S. Embassy to get Packet 3.

Am I on the right track at least? :)

The Embassy schedules the interview. However they will not send packet 3 until they receive your case from NVC. Once your case leaves the NVC, I would wait a day or two then email the embassy for packet 3. They usually respond pretty fast.

  5. Is it possible for a consular officer ask me and my fiancé for a DNA test, well me and My fiancé had an interview, we show up at the ambassy on time. We wait there for like 2 hrs, when they actually called us. The officer asked us every question you could think of. Had my fiancé sign everything, and then look at us and our pics that we had, I am talking tons of pics. She told us that she can't issue us the visa, because me and my fiancé look like we are related. She just rip all the paper that my fiancé already signed and then trash them with a anger, me and her cry just for one reason, just because she just looked at us and discriminate us, by saying that we look like Familly members. Which mean, I am having sex with one of my Familly members. She said we have to take a DNA test to show that we are not related ( lol ). Or if we refused she will terminated the case. We agreed to take the test, and now the test done they take so long to schedule us for an interview. Does anybody has any clue of what's going on?

Wow :wow: I can't believe the embassy would do this just because you have similar features. But then again I can believe it because I've had my share of problems with the Embassy in Haiti. I wish you the best of luck. I hope you hear something very soon. Let me know your outcome. I have a friend in a similar situation in Haiti. God bless.

  6. Barbie_Vazquez is a great resource and very helpful! :)

Before receiving my NOA2, I ordered tax transcripts. I made a file to keep track of phone and Skype records, and paystubs. I also familiarized myself with all the forms mentioned above (except DS 157 because I wasn't aware of it until I received the packet), and discussed them (or some aspect of this process) at least once a week with my fiancé. I waited until my case left NVC, then I requested an employment verification letter and bank reference letter.

If your fiancé doesn't have a passport valid for at least the next year, or an original passport, he can start working on obtaining those things.

    Good luck!

 yep Selavi is right. I filled out the documents for my fiancé because he is not fluent in English.

  7. Hello! I haven't received my NOA2 yet. However, can anyone help me with the next step after the NOA2 is received. I have no clue as to the required forms, etc. I would like to plan ahead and read these forms...Thank you!

Once you get your noa2 I will help you with the next steps. You will need proof of ongoing relationship. Phone records or emails. Then all the forms. D156, D156k, D157. You will need to chose a doctor for his vaccines. Many filers have chose Dr Buteau.

  8. My fiance is unable to receive mail at his home & needs it sent to his place of employment, but I didn't include that on the application. How can I ask that they send the corespondence to his job?

Hello. After u receive your noa2 and your case reaches the embassy. Everything can be emailed to you and your fiancé. Haiti mail is very slow. The embassy will email everything to u if u request it.

  9. After waiting for 4 month now i got an email from USCIS telling me request for evidence . but my fiance forgot to put in the package I-129 photos... People do you think my RFE is just for that ? :( :( :( :(

Hey my friend. Sorry you got a RFE :( Hopefully when he sends in what is requested you will get the noa2.

  10. hmmm... last time I got a visa it was a tourist visa- got it twice. My interview was on Friday, I picked up my visa on the following Wednesday. It took them just 5 days.

    --Mbcadet

The stress of waiting can be unbearable at times! I hope you get it quick. You haven't already bought the ticket, have you?

Yes I bought his ticket. He was to leave today (Sunday @ 10am). I called the airlines and got my money back because the ticket was refundable.

  11. After a visa is issued to the beneficiary, both the petitioner and benificiary would love to fly out together if both were at the interview. In this case, it would be wise for the petitioner to buy a plane ticket around the time the beneficiary picks up the visa. So, does anyone know the amount of time it takes the beneficiary to pick up his or her visa at Haiti Messager after the visa is issued?

    Hello my friend,

Our interview was July 27. Haiti messenger told my fiance he can pick up his visa on August 10. He called this morning, they told him to call tomorrow (Saturday, August 11) to pick up his visa. I will let you know tomorrow if his visa is ready. Haiti is slow as hell!!!

  12. My fiance has a copy of his birth certificate that he obtained a few years ago. I suggested that he get another copy in case there's an issue with the other one, and so that he has two certified copies. He explained that it was difficult for him to get the first copy because they had his name wrong (didn't include his second first name/middle name) and he had to get a lawyer to help resolve the issue.

Does anyone have any insight into this process? If he had to hire a lawyer to fix it the first time, shouldn't it be permanently fixed? How long does it take to get a birth certificate in Haiti and how much does it cost? Am I right in thinking he should get another certified copy to have on hand "just in case"?

As far as the police certificate, in a different thread about Haiti, someone said it is not required. Is that accurate information? Even if it's not required, should he get one just in case someone asks for it? And if he does get it, he should get one for every city he's lived/worked in since the age of 16, correct?

Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Mesi anpil!

    Hello,

The birth certificate must be the original from Haiti archives. I didnt think the Haiti consulate required a

police certificate. My fiancé said the consulate called him and told him to get one and he did.

  13. I just realized I did not write the names on the back of the passport photos. I did put them in a bag and labeled the bag but totally forgot to put the name on the backs of them. headbonk.gif

I wonder if I could send them in now? I mailed the packet yesterday!

Also, I just read that the US Citizen needs 3 passport photos on here in a post but in the guide, it only listed ONE for the I-130, I read on a post here somewhere to include 2 of the citizen with the I-485 but in the guide I just read ONE of the NON US SPOUSE - I got the 7 total for my husband but only sent one for me with the I-130.

Should I be looking for an RFE???? helpsmilie.gif

You are all good. I did not write anything on our passport photos. I did write our name and date on the proof of meeting in person photo's. You are fine.
