  1. 2 months is no problem. However, sometimes plans change, so I will say this: If you stay outside of the US for longer than 6 months, it can "reset" your eligibility for becoming a citizen. And if you stay outside of the US for longer than 1 year, you can risk losing your permanent resident status.

As long as you keep the trip to less than 6 months, it won't hurt you at all.

(Also, I should mention that if you want to become a citizen, limit your TOTAL of all your trips outside the U.S. to less than half of your eligibility period, which is 5 years - or 3 years if you got your green card through marriage to a US citizen)

Hey thank you very much for additional info. I can go now with piece of mind.

  2. if you have lived outside of US for a couple of years, your Permanent Resident Status is revoked and your green card is invalid and you cannot renew it. If any Permanent Resident lives outside of US more than 1 year without Re Entry Permit, 2 years with Re Entry Premit, USCIS will consider that you abandon your Permanent Resident Status. If that's your case, you have to start green card process all over again from the beginning.

  3. No. They accept even the copy of DS-230 which one submit at NVC. But then, it is not a big deal as DS-230 is signed by only applicant. Besides, You can submit the originals if you have not already submitted to NVC only to collect it when interview is over.

    Good Luck

  4. (Sigh, man) If you really love your son, give him a name that won't get him picked on when he's young, that sounds like a grown man's name when he's grown, and that he doesn't have to SPELL for everybody all the time.

    I agree with you buddy.

  5. Chennai is no longer in picture to process immigration visas. Update your new home address to NVC, they should be the one who makes the decision if your file may get forwarded to Mumbai instead of Delhi. Good luck!

    thanks smarty
