Hey guys, I had my interview today and thought I would share my experience with you all!!
My interview was scheduled at 26 Federal plaza this morning at 8:25 am. My husband and I got there at about 8:10 and was done with security in less than 5mins. We proceeded into the waiting room filled with about 60 people. I was called into another room around 9:30 by a very polite phillipino IO. Before I sat he asked that I raise my right hand and swear to tell the truth- I did that! He asked me to seat and we began the process of going through my application (I actually wrote my social security number wrong on my application thank goodness for the revision process).He confirmed my name, DOB, address, travel history etc. He asked to see my passport, green card and drivers license. After that was done, he proceeded to ask the questions
What is the name of the Vice President?
How many amendments are there in the constitution?
Who makes Federal laws?
What group of people came to America and was sold as slaves?
Why did the colonist fight the British?
Can't remember the 6th question. Got all of them right. Then he asked me to
Read : "who can vote?"
Write: "citizens can vote"
Since my application was based on marriage to my us citizen husband he said that we needed to revise evidence and asked if I had anything to submit. I had an updated lease, since the old one had expired after sending in N-400 application. Since our health insurance cards only has my husbands name, I had a printout of our online account with both of our names, just to show it was current. He the asked about utility bills, everything is included in our rent except cable and Internet (which is only in my name). He had copies of tax returns for the past three years, marriage certificate, insurance cards etc so he said that he did not need any additional info and thought that what I had was sufficient. He then handed me a printed sheet that confirmed that I passed the test and congratulations, I was recommended for approval. He asked if I had any questions- since I had a name changed, I asked if that would have delayed the process in any way and assured me that it wouldn't. On our way out he made a copy of the new lease, passport, greencard and drivers license. He said have nice date and that was it!
Overall it was a pleasant experience and only took about 1/2 hour! It's just the oath ceremony left-He mentioned that I will receive oath ceremony notice in the mail in a couple weeks!
