  1. Thanks man...

i needed the good words of encouragement. I know what you mean about the military. I actually met my wife while i was stationed at the Embassy...but i wasnt ready to marry her then...we had to make sure it was the real thing and thank God it was more than i could have hoped for. Now im out and of course have to do it the "regular" way. I appreciate the kind words and again thank you.

Well first off, thank you for your service. Truly. I have the utmost respect for you and the danger you volunteered to put yourself in. Thank you.

Second, you certainly chose the better route with the K3. Looking back, I wish I had gone that route because it would have been easier to get the green card.

Wishes for a blessed and wonderful future.

  2. TRANQUILO! TRANQUILO!

First off, get used to it because there really is no logic as to who gets approved before who. The folks who get their NOA2 in a few weeks are usually active military--which make all of us jealous but they really do deserve to be expedited. Just calm down and det ready for the long haul.

Regarding not sending originals of your divorce decree, do not worry. I sent in a copy and I was approved. BUT you will need an original certified copy of your divorce decree for the interview.

Good luck & GOD BLESS YOU BOTH!

  3. I contacted my congressman, both senators and even sent letters to the state department about two months into waiting for the NOA2. Look at my timeline and look how my interview got way delayed. I think I ticked somebody off. When I contacted those same offices to try and expedite the interview at the Embassy they all submitted my request for an expedited interview and they all got declined.

LESSON LEARNED: If you want to use your elected officials to help expedite your petition, save your energy. If you want to get on a first name basis with the Constituent Services Director at each of their offices and get on fundraiser mailing lists during the next election cycle, then feel free to contact them all.

  4. Gringo: Can I have your interview date? ;) Just kidding... I have resigned myself to wait and I will be going down in 54 days to be with my honey and her daughter for their interview. Between now and then I am just getting stuff ready for when they get here. My two cents would be to keep the date you have, take your W2s and 2010 1040. If you get in a tight spot, make sure you offer the CO an adjustment and I am sure you will breeze through! ;) GOOD LUCK & GOD BLESS!

  5. Reposting because I got ZERO responses yesterday (I'm hoping it was just a Sunday thing) ;)

    Hello VJers,

Already received our NOA2 and have the appointment scheduled at the US Embassy in Bogota in April but I am changing my address prior to the interview (honestly I am staying in the same building, just switching apartments). I know I need to update the DS-156 & DS-156K, but are there any other documents I need to update? I will also let my fiance know so she can point it out at the interview.

    Thanks in advance!

  6. Hello VJers,

Already received our NOA2 and have the appointment scheduled at the US Embassy in Bogota in April but I am changing my address prior to the interview (honestly I am staying in the same apartment complex but just switching apartments to get a bigger place for my fiance and her daughter). I know I need to update the DS-156 & DS-156K, but are there any other documents I need to update? I will also let my fiance know so she can point it out at the interview.

    Thanks in advance!
