  1. Hello,

My fiancé will be coming soon to the USA and my sister-in-law and I were hoping that she (my sister-in-law) and her daughter could come and be present in the wedding. We are thinking about me doing an invitation letter to the wedding. I am wondering how it works and if it will be successful because I really want them both to be present. What do you all think? Or do I have any other option? Thank you in advance for your help.

  2. Good morning everyone. I hope everybody is doing well.

My fiancé and I are so happy at the stage of our journey. To sum up, we got approved and the papers are now US embassy's hands in Haiti.

However, we now have to deal with the issue of passport. My fiancé waited too long to have it renewed and at the agency, they told him that it would take at least 1 month  even if he did it "express". I was wondering if any of you knows how to accelerate this process. I really don't know personally why they have to take so long. Please let me know if you do have a good suggestion. Thank you.

  3. Just my opinion based on what happened to me: you can just forget about your first petition. This is what I did. Once I received the paper regarding the denial and my option to appeal, I didn't waste time hiring a lawyer not appealing nor write a notarized letter to withdraw it. We just reapplied 2 months later and we got approved after 6 months, after seeing each other once and without an RFE. Needless to say that I submitted plenty of pictures as evidence ad I didn't mention that I previously applied because I can't lie The entire K1 journey is not 6 months. It takes them 6 months now to just get approved or denied. And no, the second one won't be affected by the first denial you got.

And you can't expedite the second one based on the first denial you had: they will say it was your mistake, not them and not their problem.

I see mine. You're so helpful. Thank youuu ;)

  5. I am so bewildered.

Especially since one of them was ours. I was really not expecting this at all, because we were so very, very, very far from being "next in line." I feel bad being happy. So mostly I am shocked and incredulous. But...yay?

Congratulationssss!! You have the right to be happy!!! Everybody will be when his/her time comes. Why refraining yourself from celebrating??? We all know that most of the time if not all the time, it's just by chance that they pick some applications over others but eventually they will get through all of them ;) hoping you a speedy process from now on!!!

  6. my package is leaving NVC today ive been informed by nvc agent. Very happy i moved through NVC fast! waiting until later today to get waybill number.

So happy for you too :) I can't wait for mine to reach NVC and leave ...

    FINALLY!!! Just got the message!!

On August 3, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283. :D:dance:

    Congratulationssssss!!!!!!

  7. hahaha, what a wonderful way for your new phone to offer you its friendship :D congrats

Thanks ;) It was indeed  I was so right when I had told my mom that I had to get me a new phone (it is my mean of communication with my fiance and immigration. I don't regret buying it ASAP :)

btw I meant to ask you a question.I noted that it took a couple of weeks for NVC to get your papers from USCIS. Was it a mistake on their part or is it their processing times nowadays (instead of the week timeframe that I've previously heard of)?

  8. So my phone got messed up after it felt on water this morning. I wasn't able to go to an AT&T store before 8 pm to get another phone and as soon as the man handed me my new phone, I realized I got a new SMS: status update -----> NOA2!!!! Finally!! It is indeed a great feeling. I wasn't expecting it today. Good luck to all of you still waiting ;) it may come when you least expect it!!!

  9. My fiance and I are just beginning to lose our patience. It's been a year already since we saw each other and it comes to the point where he would prefer that we wait for an approval before I make my next trip so we could celebrate together.. So I called today and I was told that they are working on January 16th. I just wanted to share that with you guys because at least there is progress on their side as well and they didn't say January 9th as they were saying before. But I was told to give them 15 days before calling back. I am not sure I'll be able to do so but we will see.

  10. Hello,

We did not wait for Haiti mail. They emailed packet 3 to me and my fiance. Once we received packet 3 my fiance was able to go to Dr Buteau for his medical. After a week he was able to get his results. We paid the visa fee. He took all our documents to Haiti messenger. That day they will give you a date to come back for packet 4 (the interview letter). But you can call the Dept of State a couple of days from returning packet 3 for your interview date. If you have any question inbox me. I will help any way I can.

What a good explanation!! Thanks Barbie_Vazquez. It sure came handy to me :)

  11. they make up the rules as they go along...literally...they can put a processing date in the database and even prevent the vast majority of petitioners from pushing a service request through...It's the wild west of immigration...

You're so right. This is why I think it would have made sense if they had changed their processing time to 6 months. Then we would know what to expect more or less when it comes to planning for the future. But what can we do? I'm trying to stay positive despite all because they GOT to make a decision one day and it sure will be closer than before.

Well I just got the text that we have been hit with the RFE bug :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:

Hang in there dear. It will be the end sooner than we all think ;)

  12. Interesting. Thanks for sharing. I never thought it would be like that. We have no other choice than waiting. I'm sure it will be pretty soon.

*our NOA1 date is so close. Good luck on your journey!!! *

I think the misconception about the processing time is that everyone thinks 5 months is when you reach the 5 month mark. I contacted my senator to request assistance in expediting my application thinking my 5 month processing window was reached, but USCIS considers 5 month processing to include a full 5 months. If you filed February 1st, then 5 months is reached on July 1st but they consider that 5 month window to be completed before heading into your 6 month. Technically the 5 month window would be before August 1st and not by July 1st.

  13. I couldn't resist it so I called USCIS this morning after 5 months and 3 days. I was expecting worse but the lady was really kind and she told me they are still working on January petitions and she can't put a service request for me before another 30 days. I just wish VSC would just go ahead and update their processing times to a more accurate timeframe. Anyway it's a new week indeed. So hopefully it will be full of actions and many petitions will be approved mostly from January so they can reach our petitions. Good luck everybody :)
