Hi everybody! It's been a long time!

Ok here's a brief explanation of what's going on:

I have been living in the US for 3 years now with my two kids, came here on a CR-1 visa. I have a permanent job and a permanent residency. My younger sister applied for a tourist visa to come and visit me and her nephew and niece. She went for an interview in Rio de Janeiro consulate. She has a permanent job in Brazil and she took all the proofs necessary to show she has no intention to stay here to live. I gave her my 2014 tax transcripts and my recent paystubs. The officer that interviewed her was satisfied with everything, but he didn't approve her from the get go, he said he wanted copies of my Green Card, took her passport and gave her a white slip.

We understand that her case went into Administrative Processing. When we checked her DS-160 online status, it said "Administrative Processing" since June 5th, which was her interview date. Now I just checked again and it changed to "Issued"

Does that mean she was approved? Or it only means they are sending her passport back?

And also, since she didn't pay the courier fee to have her visa/passport delivered, are they going to charge her upon delivery? They said DHL will be delivering her passport.

Gervl, good luck with your RFE!

I received a letter confirming the address change and the website was updated but no RFE yet.

The only thing that comes to mind is sending as many months worth of the same evidence you have already provided showing a trail of you guys having the same address.

We provided 24 months worth of bank statements (just the first page with the address), any bills showing our different addresses over the years, email confirmation from USPS showing confirmation of address forwarding service for both of us, letter from work showing each other as emergency contacts.

I am hoping I sent enough at the beginning so that a new RFE is not needed.... fingers crossed (for both of us!!).

I changed my address right after I had my biometrics, that was on April 17th and we moved on April 23rd. The next day I filled out change of address online at USCIS webiste. It didn't seem to be a problem for me. Good luck anyways!

Hey guys! Got approved! Didn't get any notifications, but decided to look up at the website this morning and there was the "Congratulations..." message. Just looked up few minutes ago again and it changed already, now it says "USPS reported they picked up your card this morning..." and they give me a tracking # and a link that if you click it shows up right away when it'll be delivered. I'll be getting it Saturday the 5th. This is a big relief and I wish all the best of luck to everybody else that has been waiting!

Hi everybody! Just got biometrics appointment letter in the mail, 04/17/14 in Fargo, ND. Glad they have this office close because we originally thought we would have to go to Saint Paul, MN. I got mine and my kid's letters as well, with different times though, it works ok!

Just got my NOA in the mail. It's an extension letter for one year and it says I can work and travel. Curious thing though is that the "Verification of Inclusion of a Dependent" came along too for my two children, so I guess we're in the right track!

Just wanted to follow up. Today I received a I-797 for my daughter in the mail. It was different than my wife's and it said," Verification of inclusion of a dependent in filing of form I-751". It was only a paragraph long and state that she was giving a one year extension and she could travel..blah,blah,blah. So I guess that's how it's done. A I-797 for the Principal(My wife) and then a verification of inclusion I-797 for the dependent.

Same thing happened to me. My wife is from Dominican republic and received her I-797 but my 9 year old step-daughter was not on it and did not receive one herself. So, im assuming this is normal, i've been seeing different responses to this all over the internet. Hopefully someone can confirm whether this is the norm or not.

Hello!

I have been living in the US for 1 year and 6 months now. I came here on a CR-1 visa and brought my children under the same category of visa. So far so good, I have been working most of the time and the children are doing very good at school.

The problem is that before I left my ex said he was going to continue making the deposits of the child support. He has became irregular though, some months he won't even make a deposit. He has never contacted the children either ever since we moved. I was wondering if I can do something about it. Is there some sort of international child support that can be filed against him? If so how do I do that?

We are Brazilians and we currently live in North Dakota, US. The father (my ex) lives in Brazil. There was never an order to collect child support, I always managed to negotiate with him. The value he deposits is very low and you can't count on it, some months he doesn't deposit, some months he deposits half, and then after some months he gets back to the "normal value'. I know it is not right but I allowed him to get away with that because he was having a financial hardship. Now that it has been over 1 year I suppose he might be better. I have been trying to contact him about it but he always finds an excuse and says he can't talk because he has an emergency or a meeting and needs to leave.

As many times as I have driven across the border into Canada, no one has ever even asked if I had insurance, let alone if it was valid in Canada. If you're worried about getting turned away for that, I'd say it would be incredibly rare for that to happen, if at all. It might be written on the books somewhere, but I've never heard that come up with anyone.

And I can confirm that your green card and brasilian passport are all you need to get across the border and back again. We've done it many times.

I found out with my husband that our car insurance will cover us anywhere, so if they ask it shouldn't be a problem, anyways it would be nice to run across the information.

BTW, is that true that when you travel by car your insurance has to be valid in Canada too? Thanks.

It's been a month that I am living in the U.S. with my husband and I already got the Green Cards in the mail (mine and my children's). So my hubby and I were planning a car trip, and we considered Canada cuz from Mandan, ND (where we live) to Winnipeg it's around 6 hours by car, so the doubt came up: "Can I, a LPR enter Canada with my Green card and Brazilian passport? Or I will have to apply for a tourist visa to Canada?"

My best advice is to consult a good CPA or tax specialist in your area. You may need to file returns for those three years. At the interview proof of filing taxes was one of the major documents they asked for.

You received a false RFE from NVC, that happens...I myself got three false RFEs. Now related to the financial situation I would recommend you to talk to the experienced members cuz I am not sure about the answer. Just forget about the REFs...

Okay so this is what happened :

We had all our documents sent in and accepted on Monday. On Tuesday morning I woke up to an email from NVC with a checklist. Inside it said to send our civil documents (which I had done already) and this about our I-864

The NVC has received the information you have submitted in reference to

the Affidavit of Support. Please be advised that the Affidavit of Support

information you have provided does not appear to meet the minimum

income requirement according to the current poverty guidelines to sponsor

the intending immigrant(s) for this petition. The consular officer will make

a decision regarding this requirement at the time of your interview. In

order to avoid delays, you may wish to submit an additional Affidavit of

Support (Form I-864) for a/another Joint Sponsor to the National Visa

Center to assist in sponsoring the intending immigrants. To view the

current poverty guidelines, visit

http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-864P.pdf.

If you decide to use a Joint Sponsor to assist in sponsoring the intending

immigrants, please note that you the sponsor may not use Form I-864EZ

and will also need to submit Form I-864.

As I said in an earlier post, my husband does make more than 125% of the poverty guidelines for 2 people by about $1000. Knowing this was low we sent in bank statements amounting to about 15k. So I was confused as to why this was the case and emailed them back. No response yesterday or this morning so I called them today and the operator told me that our case was complete. So what does this mean for our situation? Do we need to get a joint sponsor and just bring that paperwork to the interview? Or can we bring proof of other assets ie. vehicles & a motorcycle along with current bank statements that will show more in our savings. We're trying to get my husband's dad to co sponsor but he is really reluctant due to the legal obligations so we would really like to try and do this ourselves if possible. Is this possible?

Is it normal to pass through NVC without meeting the minimum guidelines?

BTW, just to give you the complete answer, when you receive your interview date, in the end of the letter they will tell you what documents they got and what you need to bring to your interview. So there you will know what you need to provide!

NVC sends false checklists sometimes. I received three, if your case is complete for sure, then I can say it was false, soon you should receive your interview date, good luck!

I was reading again everything and I saw about AOS bill, you say that it's 88,00 USD per case? What do you mean?

I'm going through the CR-1 process with two children (stepchildren of my husband - the petitoner) and he had to pay just one AOS bill for the three of us! I wonder if it changed now that the IV fees decreased the value...

Three barcoded coversheets were generated upon payment, and three AOS packages mailed, but just one fee satisfied the three cases.

BTW, I hope that the IV bills were 230,00 USD when my hubby paid them lol

You'd better write the consulate and ask them about it, anyways, I have never heard about two police clearances, generally they will still accept that one at the time of the interview. The email is immigrationrio@state.gov
