  1. Sandra how can I get copy of tax return of previous year I had Itin number and we could filed taxes together I checked and just had 2008 but I need 2009 ....

Please if somebody have the number that I can call would be great....please help

I don't think you will need all that at the interview since you are not requested to show proof of financial responsibility but hold them just in case. But you need to have proof of your current job & pay stubs to show you are capable of taking care of yourself- they asked about my job & if i'm currently employed. In my interview appointment letter they had everything listed but did not mark anything specifically for me to bring b/c i assume this is a general notice that they send to everyone- in the past, they have marked out what they wanted me to bring. But after the listed items, it said if you are a self petitioner, this does not apply to you.It was a breeze in and breeze out thing. The only thing i was asked to bring was a govt issued ID or passport.I had my ID & my expired passport. They will not open your vawa file even though they have it right in front of them, mine had a boldly written statement on it in a yellow paper not to ask any questions from the file and the lady said that too.

But your I-485 form is the one they will open & tick and make sure everything you filled out is correct by asking you the same thing in it & the yes & no questions. They will check your ID to see if you are the right person,Your name, your current address(I had to correct mine to my current address since she requested that), date of birth, place of birth, what country, how you entered the US, when, where, spell your name, is your name correct, how is it pronounced, what type of visa you came with, have you every been in a removal proceeding, have you ever left the country, are you married or not, then yes & NO questions. After that, they will ask you to ask anything you want to ask just in case you don't understand anything. They will either approve you on the spot(if its an experience interviewer) or give you a paper stating interview in process(if its a junior interviewer) and asked to contact them with 30-120days if you don't hear from them after the interview.

I was interviewed feb 25th and given the letter to contact them within 30 days, my case was transferred on the 28th & approved on the 6th with card production ordered.Card was mailed out from KY on the 12 & scheduled to arrive on the 16th but it went to CA instead on the 14th but was redirected to TX & delivered on the 16th via priority mail & i have my card in hand.So i've been a residence since on the 6th mar.

So Ssisi, relax & take a deep breath, you will be just fine.Mind you, i went to the interview with my laptop bag packed full & they did not ask to see not even one document. All they checked out was my ID, even when i offered, she said she has everything she needed in the file & by the way, my file was almost as high as Mt Everest lol!

  2. Did Liveyrlife get his/her GC yet?

Oh guys, i've been very busy.Yes, i got my green card in hand now.It arrived since the 16th march.I was interviewed on feb 25th, approved and have been a residence since march 6th.Card mailed out on the 12th march.

By the way, i love my GC & i loved the picture used, i really rocked that pic.I remember closing my eyes several times during my biometrics appointment, after several attempts, we got some nice pics and i chose this one with me smiling.

Congrats to all who got approved and to those waiting for interviews.

  3. Thanks everyone i'm very happy, hopefully i'll get my GC soon enough in the mail & then start planning my trips, apart from going to go see my family,i want to travel around the world a lil bit.I've been working hard to save for that.I just need a lil break to myself.

Honestlove, you will have to request an extension of prima facie 15days to expiration, attach the blue form that came with the previous one so they can match you up with your file with the note requesting the extension.

Optimisticchic yes VAWA applicants can send I-485 to Chicago, you must attach everything sandranj listed above as well as your approved I-360 which is what qualifies you to file & you must attach the fees. But if you are requesting a fee waiver, then you must send to VSC.

Lorphelpme, your friend will have to go to the court with the approved I-360 to have the judge admistratively close the deportation case, only then can she file for AOS.No automatic closure, she will have to go have that done in person by self or with her lawyer.

Cc1988, i got deferred action with my approval notice, its no big deal, its just to say that you are protected from deportation.

I know Sandranj will throw in some light as well.

I'll be here always and goodluck to those that are still waiting, your approval is on the way.I saw in the news today that the President signed the VAWA bill reauthorization so things should go a lot faster this year now that the funds will be released to keep them very functional. So keep hope alive

  4. DOMINIQUE, i meant to say, yes you have to send G-325 (biographic info) along with I-864w( affidavit of support waiver),G-1145(if you want to be notified via text or email),G-28(Notice of appearance of Attorney),I-693(Medicals),I-912(Request of fee waiver if u need one with supporting documents)and other forms you might need like I-765(For EAD if you need one), just follow the I-485 instructions and its all there.Just make sure you include everything at once cos if you don't u will get RFE which will delay your case.

    Goodluck

  5. Yaaaay everyone, i got card production email today.I'm very happy and can't wait for the greencard to get here so i can kick off my world tour lol. It's been 10yrs 4 me & i'm glad God has put a smile on my face in the very end.Good things come to those who actually wait.

vishufrompunjab why did your attorney made you send another $380 when you already have a pending I-485, u did not need to pay that fee. Some attorneys don't just know what's up but anyway, getting the EAD is the most important thing for now & its good without the "fingerprint on record", mine still had that on it after renewal even though they have my fingerprint on record & have been taking my fingerprints since the last 9yrs.

Macbook, i really don't know what is going on with your case,i hope all is well. After my attorney notified VSC about my case gone beyond processing time, they called back same day & sent out a RFE 4 good faith marriage & 13days after they received that, approved my case & they have touched my case every month since then & today i gone the GC production email. So,ur attorney really needs to inquire more,2yrs is a long time.

DOMINIQUE,since you have your approved I-360, why don't you send your I-485 to Chicago lockbox yourself with the fee(save urself attorney fees) for faster processing unless you want a fee waiver then you can send to VSC,yes you need to send G-325 & the I-485 and other supporting documents.

Goodluck everyone & i'm here if anyone needs to ask any questions.May God continue to help us all.

  6. Sandranj, i already had an interview at the local office for my AOS this past monday, all i need now is a decision or the GC to come in the mail. The USCIS officer told me to wait 30days before i make any inquiry if i don't get something in the mail but i checked the website last night and the update was another transfer, so why are they still transferring to a USCIS office after interview. Is one not suppose to get a decision or a card production update after the interview.I understand that my interviewer probably didn't have any experience & that's why she couldn't make a decision on the spot that day...she was a very young lady, so i assume she would wait for a supervisor to approve after the interview before any other thing.

  7. Hello every1, i'm back.I had to go to the interview myself b/c my attorney was stuck in some terrible traffic for almost an hr & half, she called to ask if i want her to reschedule the appointment but i said no b/c i was already at the office and i have said to myself a million times it must be done today with or without an attorney.

The whole process took about 10mins total, the immigration officer gave me a paper to sign for waiver of attorney which i did,we talked and laughed through the hallway b/c she was trying to pronounce my names & apologized but i told her no one can call it right & told her to just call me by my 1st name which is english.Anyway she asked my names,DOB,about 3 yes or no qtns, she asked if i have a job,if i've ever left the united states, if i had immigration problems/in removal,if i've ever been arrested,my current address,if i have any qtns for her.She talked about previous AOS which was denied & my divorce. she was saying all this while she was flipping through my file & marking circles boy was that file humongous?I even told her about the huge file, she said my file was nothing compared to some that she has seen. She went on her computer and said everything looks good and that she will review the case just in case there's anything she missed. she said she will send any correspondence to my attorney and that i should notify the USCIS office if i don't hear anything in 30days and she gave me the letter and marked #1 which is "case is in review", the paper does state wait 120days and i asked her, she said to contact within 30days if i don't hear/receive anything.I asked her if she needed me to submit any documents but she said no & that she has a copy of my everything on file and don't need anything right now.I did not even open my bag containing my documents, she only asked to see my ID at the very beginning and did not collect the I-94 either.Although all the I-360 information was right in front of her, there were bold words written in fron of it not to ask any questions and that it is confidential. After that she saw me to the door and bid each other good bye.Pleasant experience in general but would have loved for her to tell me approve but she said in 30 days so here i go again hoping & praying it gets here sooner than 30days but i'm glad this day is over.

she also asked when i came to the united states, state the date & yr, my father and mother's 1st names

  8. liveurlife make sure you take to the interview all original documents such as birth certificate and respective translation, marriage certificate, divorce certificate if you have and documents regarding the abuse and bonafide marriage.Good luck.

Thanks Sandranj,u have no idea how ready i am.I've dealt wih USCIS so much in the past that i'm more than ready to have this day over with.My 1st AOS was rescheduled about 4times.I've gone for 2 interviews myself in the past when my husband didn't accompany me.

My attorney will accompany me but even if i didn't have her, i would still have gone by myself. With USCIS,its better to have a lot than too little & i'm using my laptop bag to carry all my documents on that day. They did not ask me to come with anything though except letter of employment,so whatever they might still need,i guess i'll have to find out on the interview date so long as that interview will be done with on that day.

All i need now is lots of Goodluck.

Thanks to you and everyone in the forum,i'll let you guys know how it all went.

  9. Thanks Lorphelpme.I'm counting days now,i just want it to be over.

I submitted my RFE for I-360/it was received by VSC on Sept 28th,mine was approved exactly 13days after that (oct 13),notice of approval & deferred action sent out on the 26th oct, case was touched on 19th Nov & 21st nov after i sent in request for renewal EAD,touched again Dec 18th(case transferred to NBC,MO & local office),EAD received dec 21st.January 18th,local office sent out interview notice for feb 24th but they later realized that day was a sunday & resent a rescheduled notice on Jan 21st for Feb 25th which is this coming monday.

So from the time i got approval of I-360 to the time interview notice was sent, my case was touched every month.

  10. Hey Loveme i'm here just been busy with my jobs & preparing for my interview which is a few weeks from now feb 25th,its almost over for me, i can't wait. How's everyone doing?Goodluck to each & everyone of you who is waiting for approvals and interviews. Its not easy but God is your strength...just don't give up.

Optimistic chic, any luck on your EAD?Sissi, how are you?I hope everyone is fine?

  11. Hello Everyone, happy belated New Year greetings...i've been very busy.

Ssisi10, your case and ur updates are exactly the same way mine was worded as well & my attorney said i may or may not get an interview. She said most of the Vawa cases she had recently, received their Green Cards in the mail w/o interview so i'm keeping my fingers crossed.Either one is okay for me so long as this process is over.

They sent my EAD renewal last month & i received it right b/4 Xmas.I was asked to call after a month if i don't get anything in the mail but my phone has been stolen...last weekend so will wait a lil bit b/4 i make d call. Cos i'm so ready for this whole process to be over with.

Right now...USCIS toll free status update says file has been transferred to Lee submit,MO cos they now have jurisdiction over my case & online status update says file has been transferred to local office for further processing.

I will be calling them as soon as i get a phone.I'm tired of the wait.

Congrats Dominique & to everyone who's still waiting, hang in there.Yours is coming.

  12. Hey Guys,i got this notice online:

On December 18, 2012, we transferred your I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS, to your local USCIS Office for further processing. The new office has jurisdiction over your case and will send you a decision as soon as processing is complete or you will be notified if further information or action is needed. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address....

On the automated 1800 # it says on same date but said transferred to Lee submit,MO and to wait for a decision within 30days in the mail.

To all those that got interviews after VAWA approval, is this the kind of mail you got?The last time i got an interview notice, it specifically stated a notice for interview has been mailed but this one says nothing.

Sandranj, i need ur input on this one, why was case transferred the same date to MO & local office-one says has jurisdiction over your case & the other says to wait a decision in the mail within 30days?I'm really tired, want this process to be over with...tired of the merry-go-round with my case & too many transfers. Why is my case still transferring? Oh Lord, Help Me!!!

  13. lion_Lion & Myjay, i'm so sorry guys about your denials.Pls, stay strong, focused & never give up.Concentrate on reapplying instead of appealing and include everything that was not included the first time.Hopefully, all will be well.

Goodluck to everyone waiting to hear something from VSC.Happy new month to all & may this new month bring along good news & great joy to everyone.

  14. By the way, since u r an American, they will let you in but your husband who is a Nigerian will not be allowed entry, so if you don't want to be separated from your husband, take a trip elsewhere or just com chill out out here, there are a lot of beautiful places here in the US where you can relax.

    Goodluck.

  15. Don't bother to go to Barbados if you live in Nigeria, they'll not let you into the island with that green passport alone, u'll be detained at the airport & bundled on the next available flight out of there.Even though Nigerians don't need a Visa into Barbados,u'll be detained like an illegal alien @ d airport.I just had an awful experience with my cousin who have travelled all over the world & came to visit me in the USA.He stayed longer,so instead of his I-94 to expire, i decided to send him to barbados 4 2weeks so he can reenter the US on a new I-94.I called and inquired from the Barbadian consulate about travelling to the island as a Nigerian & they told me it was ok, all you needed was a ticket, your unexpired passport & a hotel reservation for the time duration. All that i did, only for him to be detained & bundled back same day to the US on the next available flight,he was scared but i told him to relax & that when he gets to the MIAport,he should just tell the Immigration officer that he went to Barbados for Vacation but they did not let him enter b/c he was a nigerian & that he wanted to return to Nigeria from here but his cousin who lives in TX wanted him to come help shop on Black friday for gifts to take to Africa, i told him to have them call me if they needed to verify with me & they called & wished me Happythxgiving instead(it was thanksgiving day). They also wished him a Happy thxgiving, gave him a new I-94 for 6months & told him to enjoy his stay in America & he should also take it easy with the black friday shopping. He couldn't believe it, b/4 then he was so nervous & scared, calling me every 2-3mins, i told him to chill,America is different, tell them the truth so long as u r here for a genuine purpose. It took him about 10-15mins to get into d US after being detained @ d Barbadian airport 4 over 3hrs.

I've called the Barbadian consulate almost everyday this week cursing them out even though they apologised. You don't tell people one thing & do another.I even said they should mind the way they treat US Nigerians.I then ended by asking them to require a Visa to enter their country instead of throwing people out after they spent their money preparing for a trip.I'm calling them again next week to curse them out till i've had my fill.Nonsense.

  16. Yes stillalive, i'm in TX.I got kind of excited b/c i actually sent in renewal EAD since mine will expire soon.Instead of updating on the renewal EAD, i got the transfer notice instead for I-485.I figured, they thought it will be best to just work on the I-485 instead. But anyhow,i can't get excited too much cos USCIS is unpredictable and they have a mind of their own.I just want to get my ticket on time cos after all this is over, i'm going to chill in Barbados for 2weeks & just relax free of stress & strain. But since i know they already transferred it, i'm going to be calling them often to see if they are working on it & let them know i need something to show to my job until i get an interview date or an EAD card whichever one comes 1st i'm good.I just want to see the end of this long tunnel.
