Based on people's signatures, it seems the amounts of time couples have been together before submitting the I-129F petition varies quite a bit. I thought it might be interesting to start a poll to see what the distribution looks like.
For us, we really wanted to just take it slow. I have the luxury of living just a couple hours away from my fiance so I get to visit her every weekend. Granted, at first, we would never have thought we would be getting married ... but over two years later here we are. Life's crazy that way I guess.
So what about you?

I am so exicted! Yes I know we are just starting and we have a long wait, but it is nice to see the petition at least "in the system". Now I guess I wait for the official NOA1 in the mail.
Randy
I'm in the exact same position as you ... saw the check had processed online in my bank and checked the USCIS website.
Pretty exciting stuff ... wish us luck!!
-
Gratsi ... I know I've got a long long ways to go. But just excited to see things happening.
-
Just noticed they processed the check ... kinda tough reading the 13-digit receipt number on the back of the scanned check online (the interweb rocks) but managed to make it out and registered online for email updates.
Me so happy.
-
I just sent mine in too ... know exactly what you mean!!
Best of luck to us all.

... if she wants to go home it's his obligation to provide the means for her to do so. It's in the petition he filled out that he guarantees she will not become a public charge or dependent on charity.
That's a very excellent point.

As I see it, the USCIS has to maintain a delicate balance with, as mentioned earlier, preventing fraudulent marriages as well as respecting other cultures.
With that said, and if I recall, the I-129F specifically mentions cultural norms as a possible waiver of the "having met" requirement granted it must be explained as an attachment.

Oh cool specific thread for Feb filers. 02/28 filer here checking in.

I applaud your patience to-date.... and that you have taken the time on the front-end. Seems as though too many people seem to use the K1 visa as a 'get-to-know you' period...
Thanks Jen ... in fairness, I am fortunate to live only 100 miles (to the dot) from my fiance. She lives just across the border in Tijuana, Mexico. Although at times it seems like a curse being so close yet not being able to be together in the U.S. Also, we certainly plan to use a good majority of the 3 months upon crossing into the U.S. to be absolutely sure she likes it in the U.S.

Thanks you guys and gals ... yes, I do realize this is just the beginning but still, we waited a very very long time to make sure we wanted to do this. You can see in my signature how long hahaha. After all that, if this isn't Miller Time, I don't know what is haha.

Well I just got back from the post office to send in our I-129F petition to Laguna Nigel.
Wow what a process that was. Certainly not worth the X thousands of dollars to hire a lawyer but no doubt an obsessive compulsive's wet dream or worst nightmare ... haven't quite figured out which. I would definitely buy Pepto Bismol stock considering how much of it I consumed in the past week. Thank goodness of the good peeps here on VisaJourney not to mention some friends who just got back from Juarez visa in hand ... very helpful!!
I have been meaning to update my timeline but it's not showing me fields for K1 milestones for some reason.
Anyway, wish us luck and thanks a lot you guys and gals. If it weren't for you I would still be OD'ing on the pepto.

Maybe because I am using Firefox and not IE?
[edit] Well, definitely not an IE thing as I just tried it ... should I just use the fields designated for I-130 for the I-129F progress?
-
I went to the Immigration Timelines link and for the life of me I could not find fields for the K1 although fields for the K3 seem to do just fine. Am I missing something?
-
Double check but I am pretty sure a copy of every page of your U.S. passport is an alternative to your naturalization certificate to prove U.S. citizenship. This is all spelled out in the instructions (first 5 pages or so) of the I-129F petition form.

Go to EDIT then PREFERENCES then FORMS (on left side in the Categories section) then UNTICK "SHOW TEXT FIELD OVERFLOW INDICATOR and that'll fix ya up.
AWESOME!!! THANK YOU!!! I am naming my first child after you. Billy Bong Ronin.

Thanks a lot for the help you guys.
Also good to know, I'm not the only one suffering from 3rd Degree OCD.
Since I've got you, mind if I ask how you folks included the photos? I really would prefer a cleaner method than zip lock bagging them. OCDers of the world unite!! hahaha
-
Thanks the responses ... for those that have resized the fields, do you remember where the option was to do so? I've got the full version of Adobe Acrobat and I couldn't find that option.
As for the OCD ... man, I must have gone to at least 5 places to find the perfect way to include the photos - some sort of 8.5x11 plastic sheet was what I was hunting for but all I could find were ones with the 3 holes down the sides making it far larger than 8.5x11. I've resolved to just throw them into a ziplock and tape that to a sheet of paper with the appropriate heading. I am going OCD with custom printed divider tabs along the bottom page of each new section hahaha. This is so bad.
-
So it would be ok to put in "06" rather than "2006"?
WOW ... this whole process if really doing a number on my obsessive compulsive disorder!!
-
When I try to fill in any of the forms in Adobe, in areas where there is not enough space, I get these annoying"+" marks ... little black boxes with a "+" in it indicating not all data is showing. Problem is, in many instances, sufficient data is showing except for a micro-millimeter or something. An example are the year fields on the G-325A.
Anyone know how to toggle off these plus marks or better yet, how to enlarge the fields?
I realize I can just print the forms out and type in the information but would really prefer to have it down on a computer. Thanks for any advice.

We plan on sending not only a copy of her (beneficiary) birth certificate but a certified translation as well.
-
Thanks for the heads up!!
-
That's what it's suggesting, but who really knows when it comes to USCIS...

Edition Date : 11/24/06. Prior edition dated 05/23/06 will be acceptable until 02/18/07.
To be clear, if the package is post-marked on or before 2/18/07, they will accept the current edition?
How Long Were You Together Before the I-129F

Wow interesting results so far ... seems people either pulled the trigger off the bat or they decided to wait it out and take it slow. Not surprising I guess but cool to see the data none the less.
I can't seem to edit the original post ... I would go with as a couple in general. Or even further than that and make it since you first knew each other even if you weren't "officially" going out.
