  1. A very informative write indeed. I'm guessing a lot of this is consulate specific however. We too had a letter saying the case had been forwarded to the consulate but many other posters said ALL cases go through NVC, they have no redord of receiving it yet (but was only approved on 7th october). The letter did give us a case number but no letters in front of it (I believe is the case for consulate referrals...three letters as a prefix denoting the embassy). One question though...you refer ti needing to send YOUR documents to your fiancee (I am a fiancee and in the U.K) the petitioner 9my fiance) is in The States...what will he be required to send my way?? Thats news to me so would be great to get some inside info to prepare on exactly what he may need to send apart from of course the obvious (the affadavit of support). Or is it country specific, might he need to send nothing?? Panicking now!!! :)

  2. Need some definite advice from the experts on these couple of questions. I know answers my vary depending on Embassy (I m the beneficiary and live near London). We've received the

NOA2 and are awaiting its arrival at NVC. These questions have arisen from looking at forms etc in readiness for filing them

1)I have an elder daughter who is nineteen and at university. She has chosen not to come (except for great holidays!), and to likely stay on to do post grad. i.e if she did follow, it'd be in about five/six years time. As such I have listed her as 'under 21' and my child but on the forms felt weird about suggesting she'd be following on as the chances are, she won't be, though secretly, I hope she will and think she might, but again...not for years. This raises a question for my partner though when filling out the Affadavit of Support. Does he need to do a form for her because she is my daughter and under 21, even though she will not be residing with us? He seems to think the form 'wants' him to do one for her but it seems likely to not make sense to.

2)I have all of my certificates ready for asking (apart from the affadavit!), by fiancee is unsure if, like me with the Embassy, NVC are suddenly going to ask him to provide original marrigae certifivcates as well as divorce ones (for himself), before they pass it to the embassy. He was married twice and has one certificate, but the other (from the eighties) he does not have. Shoudl he be attempting to get hold of this now?? Will NVC even ask for it?

3)Does anyone know of a link whereby it takes you to a place you can download any forms the NVC might require if him now, or documentary evidence he needs to get (if any). A fellow VJer kindly gave me my embassy link and it had EVERYTHING to help me prepare. Just wondered if a packet still exists for him to complete before it gets passed to London.....we'd rather be prepared :)

Thanks very much for taking time out to read this....any help gratefully accepted

  3. HAVE RECEIVED NOA2 AND INSTEAD OF MENTIONING THE NVC AT ALL NOR GIVING A CONSULATE TYED NUMBER IT GIVES ME(THE BENEFICIARY) A NEW NUMBER AND THE WORDING READS '"The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate. Please contact the consulate with any questions about visa issuance..." We're a bit a confused because we thought there were meant to be more steps taken with the NVC who claim not to have our case when we give them the numbers. This is a London to use....does this seem normal...would NVC ever be passed over? Or is thing generic wording we all hear on NOA2s .....very confused.....was execting a pack and so on.

excuse lack of 'P', the keyboard is sticking!

  4. It said on here 'no question too small' nor annoying (hopefully!). So here it is, we have had our NOA2 but the NVC have not yet received our file. I love to be repared but have been trying to find which forms next we ll have and its a little confusing. Also I keep seeing inference that my fiance, the petitioner, needs to have passort sized photos of my and my police certificate etc and orginal marriage docus, but other sites say I hand in some of those things myself (to the London Embassy...the police certificate was one mentioned).....so I would love information from those in the know about what we can do to prepare next. Should we be calling the NVCmail hook u which would expedite things such as payment of further fees? Now that we're ina position of hving a little more control we want to do just that!! All answers gratefully received, especially pointers form form downloads etc, the ones I downloaded appear to be already for a spouse. What comes next?!

p.s we had aproval on the 7th but the NVC show no trace yet and no packet received either....is this normal??

    Thanks guys :)

  5. @Paul & Rain

I hope my journey is speedy as yours. :(

Me too, but I can assure you it felt anything but seedy going through it! True enough we kept being told 'five months' but they have done it in four (not including NVC receiving the pack to process for the embassy). Fingers crossed for you guys :)

  6. Not to worry, I was getting very stressed out imagining all possible worst case scenarios, and we're june filers with a complicated case of recent divorce and my having children to bring, but we were aroved on the seventh of this month. So relieved! IT WILL HAPPEN. Also check their so called non functional online status checker...it worked for me today and was that which gave me this news. erhas it says 'no case' until there is a case to show? Keep focussed ;)

  7. it take from uscis approving you with their NOA2 before the national visa centre get the mail from them. NVC have told me they process files within fifteen days once they have them but the approval was mailed out to us october 7th (we don't have it in hand yet....checked online). Could this be Possibly another long time waiting for them to pass it along? The benefit of anyones knowledge and exerience on this matter would be greatly received here :)

  8. THANKYOU EVERYBODY. Reading everyines stories here made such a big difference. Does anyone know how long it takes between uscis approving it and the national visa centre getting it. I know they take 15 days to rocess to the embassy, but I wondered if this might be another month or so wait to for it reach nvc....sooo used to waiting!!

thank you guys for these :) good luck for you both too xBalloonscolour.gif

    Congratulations!

  9. <P>So happy. We just received approval (noa2) but through a very funny means. Noone on phones could tell us anything from NVC nor USCIS . But I thought what the hell, I'll try the 'offline' status checker on USCIS and there it was in black and white....aproved 7th October, though we've not had it in the mail yet. I d recommend trying the online status checker, reckonit DOES work, but only at the end when they have something to tell you. If I hadn't checked I'd not have known?! Anyway the files are off the the NVC who say its a fifteen day turnaround for sending on the the embassy and suddenly there's light at the end of the tunnel! Good news and good luck to all other filers...its worth the wait and remember DO check the online checker ;)

  11. I was reading anouther forum regarding simple religious ceremonies being recognised by the Embassy as legal marriages, and someone there posted that if considered married the K1 is voided and then you'd need to apply for a Spousal Visa...the next comment made suggested the wiat for one of these could be as long as p to two years. Double check me on this, its simply one posters advice, but if its true, you may want to rethink the wedding you already have planned??

  12. The K1 is not a marriage ANYthing it is a document to enter the US and is CANCELLED immediately upon entry and replaced with the I-94

You APPLY for a marriage license. In some states there are no waiting periods in some it is three days. we received our marraige license 3 hours before our wedding

The marriage CERTIFICATE is requested AFTER you are married and is the official document registering your marriage. We got our marriage CERTIFICATE 3 days after being married. Some locations take up to 30 days. This, again is AFTER you marry

It is foolish to make ANY plans before the visa is IN YOUR HAND. Good luck.

THANKS FOR THE ADVICE :) Our wedding venue already has agreed some flexibility on dates anyway, so it should be okay....hope hope hope ;) The state will be Tennessee and apparently both need to apply in person and give at least four weeks notice. Looks like we'll likely and sadly have to shift the date along...

  13. On the 129f form you list ALL the beneficiary's children, whether they all will be given K-2s or not. You list ALL of them.

Then on the DS-156K or whatever form your Embassy uses, you list only those that will be given a K-2. This form is brought to the interview. Very simple.

Yes, you need notarized permission from the other parent for the child to immigrate permanently to the US, you need the BCs and each will have their own medical.

Thanks everyone for your time and help. The embassy verified they do have derivative status so will get their K2's if/when My K1 is issued. I was very worried there for a moment thinking they needed separate alicatiosn made at the same time as mine!!

  14. Would love some advice on timings . The wedding date is for 3rd March and we're June filers. This makes things quite tightly organised but I hadn't factored in applying for a marriage certificate (which evidently we need to both do in person and with at least a months notice!). Does the K1 visa in anyway class As the marriage certificate, I know likely not but it'd be really helpful if it did, then the likelihood of having to shift the wedding date decreases!! Does anyone know any ways to exediate such applications?? Thanks.

  15. I think it will be fine. I keep up with the London stories and a woman interviewed some months back with nothing because she couldn't even find the father. They just pulled out an affidavit for her to sign swearing that there were no pending custody disputes over the children or something to that effect.

Thanks to everyone who answered. The mebassy confirmed that my I129F gives them derivative status and there is nothing we need to do yet. Phew!!
