    did mine on June 20th, was told background check is now cleared and case sent to local field office (Boston)

    However, my online status still shows "bio was scheduled"

    thanks for this information.  How did you find out that it was sent to the local office?  Is there a phone number or email that is best to use?   I am still kinda new to this.  So at what point are people sent the notice about "In line waiting for interview"... is that after case is sent to the local office?    Thanks for any help..

    Yeah I am late in responding but I meant to also add that while it took me 49 days, there were users on this board going through the same office as I and they took closer to 100 days.  It really depends on a lot of variables.  Sometimes the background checks can take a long time.  If there is someone with a similar name with warrants, arrests etc, it can take a while to double check that they are not the same person etc.

    oh okay...  though there will most likely be no one with her same name..   Just wondering, so there is no way to contact them or a number to call or website if we want to contact them?

    I didn't go to "in line for interview" after my biometric appointment for a whole 49 days.  So tell them not to panic!  I wouldn't have them call or chase yet.

    Her biometric date was actually June 22, so about 59 days.  (She sent original papers to Phoenix AZ).  Anyone we can call for something like this?  Thanks,

    Typically from what I've seen folks including myself are getting at least a month/3-4 weeks notice.

    There is a June filers thread that might be of assistance.  As an east coaster I don't really know much about California processing times, and if Sacramento is one of the faster offices.  Someone in that group though might have some gems of wisdom though!  I will say though, please don't worry!  They're in the system and the USCIS is processing cases as fast as they case.  And they can travel fine between now and their interview, just make sure they note any dates and trips out of the country.  They don't have to stop or put their life on hold during this process.  It's frustrating with the lack of status updates but they are on their way to becoming a citizen.  And joining an online community like this really does help keep you grounded and in check with regards to worrying! :)

    I looked at some timelines.  she had her biometrics in early July but don't think she received anything regarding waiting In Line for an interview.  Seems most people get this soon after their biometrics...  Wonder if I need to have her contact someone...   I also put this in the June filers like you suggested..

  5. I am writing this for my friend.  She had her NOA1 in early June.  Fingerprint in early July.  I don't think she received anything yet about in line waiting for an interview.  Do you think she needs to contact someone?  and if so, who?   She lives near Sacramento, CA.     I am trying to get an idea when she might expect an interview so she is prepared.  So if anyone has any idea for Sacramento, please let me know.  Thanks!

    According to the USCIS website on June 30th Sacramento were processing cases as of October 6, 2016, which is realistically the OLDEST priority date they have of cases sat at their office at the point they did the audit to check dates.  The priority date is the date you/your friend got their first NOA1 (the acceptance notice from USCIS saying they had received their application and to wait for the biometrics notice.)

    Without knowing the full details of their case, from guessing that they did their biometrics in July, they likely filed their application in June. So worst case scenario, if now it's August let's say they're onto early December 2016 applications.  So let's say that's an 8 month wait.  If your friend filed in June, they could be looking at a wait into January.  But it's actually more likely they'll hear before then.  Because we have a lot of folks in this thread that have interviews scheduled and their offices are publishing much older dates.  So for an interview date... maybe best case scenario let's say October/November 2016?  Worst case scenario January/February 2018?

    This is all a guess BTW.  I couldn't find any other filers in the same office from a quick scan of a few month threads.

    okay, great.  Thanks so much for your help!   It is good to have an idea, when studying the interview questions about when they might call you in for the interview!  By the way, about how much notice in advance do they give before the actual interview?  A few weeks I'm hoping at least!

    I am still reading your message... thanks so much for your help.  I was on the phone and she recived her NOA1 in early June.

    ROC  = Removal of Conditions

    EAD = Employment Authorization Document

    The above are for folks who are applying for a green card/legal permanent residence (i-751). The EAD shows that they are able to work.  While legal permanent residences don't need these, when you apply for your first green card, if you're adjusting your status from say a work or student or visa based on marriage, they'll have you apply for an EAD at the same time so that you aren't stuck and can still work in the meantime.  When I did mine, I got my EAD and my green card though in hand on the same day.

    Thanks...

  10. Need help please!  If someone had their biometrics appt in July, and they use the Sacramento CA office, when can they expect the interview to happen?  I can't find any time lines for the Sacramento CA offices.  All I know is she had biometrics in July.  What next should she expect?  I see above people have something about "In Line for interview"...   After you receive this, does that mean you interview soon after that, or it really varied based on area?

      I can see the chart that is posted about when they are processing things based on when you sent everything in....but I don't know how to read that chart. Anyone have any ideas?    Any help is much appreciated!

  12. Hello... It's been years since I've been on this site.  Anyway, I am trying to help a friend.  Her permanent residency card expires sometime early next year, and so I am trying to see if she might get her interview before the date her permanent residency card expires, or if she should just apply for renewal of that card just in case.   She filed in May, and will be doing biometrics I believe early July.  she lives near Sacramento and about an hour from San francisco.  On this chart, it has August dates for "As of April 30".  What does this mean??  Could someone please explain for this newbie (regarding citizenship  questions).  Thanks!

    Also how do I find timelines for other people on this site who have gone through Sacramento or San Francisco?  Thank you.

  13. You cannot be held responsible for their financial/medical issues.....which is why....there is NO such thing as having to sign an affidavit of support (I 134) because that document is not enforceable...which is why....letters telling the CO that your relative's expenses will be covered, etc, are meaningless because no one can take you to court and force you to pay some liability of said relative.

    I was wondering about this, because I can't remember if we signed an I-134 affidavit of support, or if we sent a letter saying we would take care of them financially while here. I was worried that we may have filled one of those out or sent a letter when they got the tourist Visa.. and was wondering if that would hold us to having to pay their medical bills if something happened here.

  14. My wife's parents will be coming here on a tourist Visa. I plan to get visitor health insurance for her, but most only have a small maximum amount they will cover, and most don't cover pre-existing conditions. My question is, are we responsible for paying any medical bills for her parents if something unexpected were to happen, and their visitor health insurance doesn't cover it??

    I did read someplace that you have to be careful if they are admitted to a hospital since the hospital may want you to sign some documents saying your will take on the financial responsibility. So I figure if we don't sign that, the hospital won't take them??

    Thanks for your help. Also, please move to a different forum if this is not the correct location for this question. It's been years since I've been on this site!

  15. Hello everyone,

    I know when I tried before to bring my wife to visit (before she was my wife) on a tourist Visa from Peru, and then also tried to bring her sister to visit, we were denied both times. If we try to bring one of her parents here on a tourist visa, (and she would state on the application of course that her daughter is here living in the US) does anyone know if her chances will be better at obtaining one? I had heard an older person (or parent?) has a better chance than a younger person to obtain a tourist visa. Hope someone could help me with this, especially people getting tourist visas for parents in S. America or especially Peru. thanks!

  16. I'm still not confident I'll find the exact dates and length of the trips. Some trips were on other airlines where we didn't have frequent flier miles also. So do you think it will be okay to include some statement saying these dates are to the best of our knowledge? But some dates we are not sure of the exact number of days? This part of the application has me worried the most because I just didn't keep any records of all the places travelled to for vacations and when she returned home to visit her family. thanks for your help.

  17. Hello,

    I am getting ready to file. I'll either send the tax transcripts or my full return. If I send my full return does anyone know if I must send W2's with it? I may have lost some W2's.

    Also, it'll be difficult coming up with the exact dates of travel for the past 5 years since my wife travelled frequently. and also the passport stamps are not always clear. Does anyone know if this has to be exact or the best way to find travel dates in the past when you don't keep airline ticket stubs?

    Thanks..
