thanks for sharing your info.
While reading through the November files looks like some of them are still waiting. This is really disappointing.
A post recommended that when calling to ask for a service request to be filed and sent to the service center. I plan on calling this week.
Hello, I'm new to this forum, but I was watching a few threads periodically.
I would like to share my ROC story with you and maybe someone could add me to the table.
I filed my joint ROC on Jan 16 to Vermont office (I live in Boston),
NOA1 date Jan 21st, Bio apt on Feb 17th, and then yesterday (Jun 9th) I received the approval (date of decision Jun 5th)
My case is nothing special, no military nothing.
I had never received the transfer notice, however, my case got approved pretty fast for a Vermont filer and my decision letter was signed by Boston officer, so I assume it was processed locally.
As we see, none of the Jan filers got transferred to CA yet (like it happened with Dec ppl). It could be that Vermont deals with its backlog by sending cases to local offices (no notifications).
I wish everyone who is waiting to get your approvals soon without any problems and delays!
Good luck

Still no updates for my case. Anyone know what the next steps are?

hello everyone...
I had a question ... I am awaiting response on my removal of conditions application and have been crossing with my expired GC and notice letter of extension on residency. the BP officers have not given me any trouble at all but I have a couple concerns and questions:
1) can I apply for SENTRI while awaiting for my approval on removal of conditions? after all my residency has been extended...
2) my little step sister (13 years old)is a US citizen by birth and also the reason why I will be needing a SENTRI pass...our dad passed away and her mom cannot get a visa (unpaid medical bills from my sisters birth) and we want to enroll her in school here in the states me and my husband would take her to school everyday my husband hates crossing to Mexico so I would pick her up and cross her with me everyday and my husband would just drop her off at the line... I would more then likely stay some nights at their house (step mom and step sisters house) but I'm concerned it will look like I love there and I know PR cannot live outside the US. I would love to just have my little sister come live with me and my husband but her mom won't allow it :/
anyway does anyone know if I guess you can get SENTRI while pending application?
and will BP officer make a big deal of me crossing so much ??
right now I'm crossing a lot because I have to be babysitting her and our other little sister (4yo) basically every night since their mom works at night .
BTW we live in border cities obviously
thanks for any help! I'm a filer of this time period as well
I already went to my biometrics appointment and am just waiting to hear back
I wish I could help however I suggest you start a new topic so that you may get an answer quickly.
-
Thanks! How about going on a cruise? Is the letter of extension ok? Like going on a cruise to mexico..
yes you will be fine. I travelled to Canada the officer just said oh you must have had a conditional green card and did not say anything else and let me through.
-
Just did this weekend, no problems at all
-
Her US husband can move up to Canada with her. There is no stigma like there is in the USA. However after they move and file, it will take about 8-9 months him to get a work permit and then another 20+ months to get PR status in Canada. The longest part of that wait is the FBI check, which should be done before they move, if they plan on it, because that significantly shortens the time to a Canadian PR.
But they can also start outside of Canada right now the initial processing time is taking 34 days vs 8-9 months from inside. Still total time outside is minimum 22 months and from inside is 16... Seems better to do it from the inside.
US immigration doesn't seem to take so long anymore does it?
The only part is that the OP did AOS the first time. The second time, probably wouldn't be an option.
NLR from everything else I have read it seems that the process from outside will take less time for my husband. Obviously the part that would matter to us would be that he gets a work permit as quickly as possible.
Also for the FBI check, can we just request it from the US and then submit it with the application?
-
Sounds about what we submitted as well. Good luck!
-
Thanks NLR and everyone for your answers.
-
Thank you everyone for your replies. They have definitely been helpful. I don't feel I have another choice but to wait until naturalization before I consider canada again.
When will I be able to be considered for naturalization? How do I determine that date?
-
Did you recieve your NOA2 yet?
It will list the location and address with date and time you are to go
-
Sure you don't want to wait one more year and have your Naturalization? Then you can do whatever you want in the future forever....
carocaro thanks for replying. We have a great opportunity for a great job for me in Canada so I just wanted to see our options. I definetely do not want to complicate things in the US after all this time and effort into the immigration process. As I can sense from your response it will be easier to wait for naturalization?
-
I, a Canadian citizen, am currently in the process of recieiving my 10 year green card. My husbdand and I have been think of moving to Canada as a possibility for the future.
Will this make things complicated for me in the US? If we move to Canada will I still be allowed to come back live/work in the US?
I realize this might be a bit outside this forum but don't really know how to search for an answer.

Thank you so much for your help! I was able to get my biometrics done this morning with no issues at all
-
Try doing a walk-in and explain what happened. Most service centers will allow you to do a walk-in for biometrics. If they don't, schedule an info pass and ask them to give you a new appointment.
Thanks for your reply!
What is an info pass?

I submitted my ROC in early Jan recieved my NOA1 on Jan 7 and was going crazy waiting for my Biometrics appointment date.
As we were organizing today my husband found the unopened Biometrics Letter that was sent to me on January 14th with my scheduled biometrics to be on Feb 4th. Of course I have missed the date now and i see it says your application will be considered Abanadoned???
What should I do?? I plan on calling first thing tomorrow to see if I can get help on the phone. Should I send a request for rescheduling at this point?
-
You need to use the Application number from the bio-metric appointment.
I have yet to receive my biometrics appointment and that's why I am calling to find out what happened. My NOA1 says that it's extended for 1 year and I will receive a biometrics appointment next. That was dated 1/7 and I've not reicieved anything else since
-
I try to call in with my receipt number for an update but it says the receipt number is invalid. Anyone have a similar issue?
-
We filed ROC for my wife and son. The biometrics appointment for Olga came quickly; however, we have not received anything for her son yet. I am hoping that his biometrics appointment will be on the same date. It would be inconvenient to make two trips for prints and picts.
Hopefully, most of the VSC staff were Seattle fans, and life is good in Vermont-land today.
That does not make sense at all. I'm getting impatient and I think I will call tomorrow just to make sure it's not lost in the mail or they sent it to my old address or a dog ate it, it could happen
-
I recieved my NOA1 on 1/7 but still no biometrics appointment. At this point I am starting to freak out, anyone have any idea what the hold up is?

alright, now with the interview when it happens....we have thousands of pictures...and dont really want to print them off..can we just bring our laptop with all of them on it as apposed to spending TONS of money to have them printed on paper?
You do not need to print thousands of photos, I would suggest some photos that highlight your relationship eg. your wedding day. We brought about 10 photos in total and did fine. I saw other with 3-4 huge albums I'm not sure that it makes that much of a difference. I would stick to 20 or so if you really feel you need to do it. You can get photos printed at local drug store or Target, costs about 10cents each, will not need to break the bank.
-
You still have a few weeks yet. Chances you will receive this new appointment date in the mail. If not received in the next 2 weeks or so, then can you contact the local office and confirm ? Also, you have a letter already stating the first date was cancelled, so you may be covered here.
I've called the office to confirm about other issues in the past and have not got much help. I think without VJ I would probably never even have gotten my work permit.
-
I received my interview date which was scheduled for March 7th. I then received a letter in the mail saying it was cancelled "due to unforeseen circumstances". I checked my status online and it says my interview is rescheduled for March 9th, still no official paper in the mail though.
I did a search on VJ and a lot of people suggested going to your first scheduled interview to avoid being denied as they can say you never showed up. Our interview is in Philly which is a 2hr drive from us and my husband will have to take the day off work since we are scheduled in for 11am.
My question is should I still go to the first interview even though the 2nd scheduled one is just 2 days after? Will I risk being denied or should I just go anyway?
