I will be changing my last name during my naturalization process. During my citizenship interview the agent confirmed my new last name will be printed on the certificate.

My question is what sort of documents will I need to change right away to my new last name?

- Will my SSN remain the same? Several friends have noted how it seems like a strange number and I wondered if that had to do with the immigration piece.

- Applying for US Passport requires a copy of DL - I am assuming I will need to change that first?

- What about my foreign (Canadian) passport - can I keep that in my current name? It will not expire for another 2 years.

If there is a link that shows step by step what I need to do it would be awesome! I tried to search with no luck

I apologize if this is a stupid question but what is the process for n400? I see there are 2 spots for interview date and then the oath? I am assuming there will be follow up after my already scheduled interview?

Interview scheduled for 4/28

Did early walk in bio on 3-17. Case status updated on 3-19 "we scheduled an interview for your Form N-400"

Biometrics scheduled for 3-23. I may attempt to go earlier.

My NOA says they will contact me again once the interview has been scheduled. Does this mean I don't need to do biometrics? Has anyone else received anything similar?

Our interview went very well in Philadelphia. We met with the officer for no longer than 2 minutes as she went through just the application form to verify all info and then proceeded to say she was not sure why were were there and that I will receive my card in the next few weeks. Waiting patiently since I am sure the holidays are not helping to speed things up

Ughh I was told in Sept we were going to be scheduled for an interview. Got the letter last week we are scheduled for 12/10. Not sure what to bring at this point except just updated from what we submitted in January.

I sent in a request for status via the website form and heard back that I was randomly selected for an interview and they were waiting to schedule a date with the local office. That was almost a month ago now.

I called to try to get more info and essentially got the same response except that the agent on the phone did not mention anything regarding an interview but said I should call again if I do not hear anything by end of November to which then I should schedule an info pass for an extension -.-

This is so frustrating and I will be filing for N-400 by January this seems like such a wasteful process.

I filled in January and then sent more info for RFE in July. I submitted a case update request and within a few minutes later got the update below. I guess I am trying to understand if what they are saying is I can schedule an info pass and use that for my interview?? It just seems unclear.

Sent our RFE now back to the waiting game.

RFE Recieved yesterday July 8th. So mad. We moved to a different state so I called to change my address 06/25 and they printed an RFE 06/26/ What a coincidence.

They are saying our deed doesn't show joint ownership even though both our names are on there. They are requesting for living trust , will etc.

I am so frustrated with this.

Hm I also received an RFE a few days after I called... coincidence much?

Just try to send as much stuff again as you can, I'm doing the same so I don't have to take a day off and go through the interview process

Are they asking for specific things?

They are asking for more data on our checking account and utility bills (I originally included 6 months). Other than that they just listed what I sent and then a list of general items/ideas (nothing new there).

Here is what I am resubmitting in case anyone else needs some ideas. I'm hoping to mail all this by this Friday. I went through countless reams of paper, highlighters and of course time but I'd rather do this then have the inconvenience of an interview.

We have a dog so I submitted vet papers on him with both of our names as parents (no joke)

Phone Bill (last 2 yrs highlighted every phone call b/w us, including work phone)

Emails and photos from a professional photoshoot

I went through my email and found any hotel/vacation/car rental we every booked and printed those

Submitting 2 additional affidavits (on top of 2 already submitted)

Tickets and photos from a vacation with my side of the family

Working through a whole list of things to send them. I was able to find so much ideas on what to include just going through my email for the past 2 years, they won't know what hit them when they get 20lbs of evidence.....
