  1. Applicants aged 16 years and older must getpolice c ertificates from other countries where they have lived/work for six (6) months or more after reaching the age of 16. So yes you need to get from Dubai. I would think you would want to do this sooner than later as it can take time (depending on country). I am not sure who you contact first but you might want to try their embassy if they have one there, or someone else may post that information.

    Good Luck

thank you for the reply. God Bless.

  2. Southcalhog and teapotgurl are correct. If you are no longer living in Dubai you do not/ cannot obtain your police clearance. There is a list of countries that this applies to and the USCIS has the list.

I couldn't get Southcalhog's link to work so here is the excerpt on Police certificates from UAE according to the travel.state.gov website:

    Police Records

Available, only if applicant is physically present in the UAE.

Police certificates may be obtained by any person, regardless of nationality, by personally appearing at the Central Police Headquarters located in the emirate of residence or former residence. When appearing to request a police certificate, the applicant should provide recent photographs, a letter from the requesting authority, the date of residence in the emirate, and their passport.

Not available by mail. Post recommends that consular officers waive the general requirement to obtain police certificates unless the applicant lives in the UAE.

So that's one thing to not worry about and cross off your list :)

(We were living in Dubai at the time, so we did have to get it :P )

    thank you soo much....GOd Bless..

  5. Yes my congressional office called yesterday also and was told the same thing, they are working on March filings, and K1 is not a priority in regards to all the types of forms they process. They said try back again in 60-90 days, which will put me at the 6-7 month mark from the time we received the NOA1. First this is the government your dealing with, that right there speaks of itself. Then they had the excuse of telling my congressional office the reason other applications filed after ours are processed is when the people at the service center finish other types of applications they are then put on the K1,s so they must just walk by a table and grab a few with no regard for dates, yes that's right they could not even offer a legitimate reason as to why they were not processing them in order of receipt.

so you know what, I am not wasting another thought on when we will receive our noa2, cause the answer is whenever they decide to process it, plain and simple.

I bought another plane ticket to the Philippines yesterday after hearing that ####### of a story and will spend Christmas with my sweetie. I would urge everyone to begin to contact their congressional office and demand some accountability from our government, I don't know about you guys but they were sure quick to cash my check, how many services do you pay for 4-6 months in advance??? Not to mention you are already paying towards this budget in your federal taxes, just sucks!!

sorry for my rant, just so discouraging.

  6. I had an inquiry made the other day through my congressional office, to see if and when my 129f might be looked at since you cant really get any type of update until you actually get something in the mail. They said the uscis Vermont is currently on March applications, so on occasion when you see ones processed after your date, they claim its from diverting people on to them when they are caught up on other immigration forms, they also said K1 is not a priority when they handle all these forms.

I still don't understand how other applications move ahead, it seems as if they just grab them from a pile hehehe. Anyway, hang in there as the other post said after 6 months you can get an update, but hope and pray for a little luck that it happens sooner, as for our noa1 it was received June 23 so by December 23 it will be 6 months, 2 more months ( but hoping for much less) anyway I am going to PI for Christmas cause that's where we belong (as in together).

we didn't want to spend our money on yet another trip there, but while you can make more money, you cant make more time so we agreed another trip where we can be together Christmas regardless of the NOA2 will go along way to helping us cope with this process. If you have the resources it surely helps with this painfully long process, I know its not practical in so many cases but wish everybody could do it.

    Good Luck & Godspeed

  7. Cheating is Bad, and usually means there is a problem much deeper than the act alone of cheating, you said hes a nice guy, have you talked to him? Are you only hurt or do you no longer love him? sounds to me like things went bad pretty quickly?? The other person is correct you have rights here in the USA but you should Put aside what happened and try to either work things out or work things out in an amicable way even if you do decide to divorce. If there has not been any physical abuse or threats that would make you believe you are in danger of being harmed you really should try and work things out. Also, if you plan to stay here in the USA it seems to me you should think of who helped you to be here, again this is based on there not being any violence or danger to you.

There are too many people who use protection orders for the wrong reasons, and as such they are abused and misused. They can have consequences on his employment, overseas travel and even raise his insurance rates. The courts are full of these protection orders that have been filed to evict guys from their homes without cause or any real threat to the person filing them, to make room for new boyfriends and even as leverage in divorce and custody case, they are not to be taken lightly as the previous post would have allowed you to believe.

but again, if there has been physical violence or you have a genuine concern for safety then it is designed to protect you and must be considered. You may even wish to let him know that if he persists on harassing you you will have to file a protection order and that he should Google it and see what the consequences are.

Good Luck and Try not to feel too bad, there are a lot of good people to support you.

  8. We are June Filers also. I think maybe a week before you, so we were thinking sometime in October.

However I just wrote a letter to the US senator responsible for the USCIS in Vermont, as well as the Deputy Director of the USCIS and 3 Television networks.

I am not asking for any special attention, as I know all of us deserve fair processing. However I did point out we ( the USA ) spend 51 Billion annually on Homeland security, we spend another 11 Billion on US Customs and Immigration and yet the USCIS budget is like 2 billion, that's for all three service centers.

While the cost of Illegal Immigration to the states collectively is close to half that number ( and nobody even knows the true cost). It seems to me the good Honest people who are doing this the right and legal aren't being serviced or cared for very well. This is not a free service, we are paying for this ( Twice) once in Federal Taxes and a second time in application fees, not too mention all the other costs that go into this.

I wrote the networks hoping maybe they will do a human interest story on this and if it brings light to getting this process in line with technology or even if service levels were to improve I think everyone would benefit. The waiting would be fine if it was timed accurately, meaning if they said 5 months then it was five months, if they said 6 months then it was 6 months, but this hodgepodge of maybe this month or maybe next month that's just not right, just my opinion.

Hope we see our NOA2,s soon :)

  9. I have to agree with Mike here, know what your getting into and what kind of commitment your making, the truth is you mention starry eyed but after going through this long process ( at least 6 months ) I would have thought you might have had some Intellect mixed in with the emotions. I'm not picking on ya sucks to be divorced or parting ways after going through all that but I guess everyone's situation is different, for me I would give everything I have or everything I ever would have to have one more day with my girl, I dont see that changing, 6 mos, 6 years, 6 lifetimes. Our government may not always be the best, but its not fair to taxpayers that they pick up the expenses cause somebody else made a bad decision, we have too much of that already. Good luck, im sure its not the end of the world for you.
