  1. Hi Janeth! what i did was to ask for a detailed medical certificate from my doctor which stated that i had stage 1 uterine cancer, that i had hysterectomy and further biopsy results indicate that the cancer did not spread and i am cancer free. i also made my fiance write a sort of letter indicating that he knew of my condition and my surgery. (i was thinking before that the consul might interrogate me about my cancer and the fact that i will never be able to have a child and that i kept this information from my fiance)

i did not undergo chemo and radiation. mine is stage1 B uterine cancer.

i also submitted a detailed report from my cancer surgeon re the operation they conducted on me. i had it all with me during the medical exam. i was interviewed by the doctor and i told her i have all records with me. i also emphasized that my medical reports state that i am cancer free now. (i was worried that they will see me as a public charge once i get to the US)

    1. the doctor and the consul did not mention about me being a public charge on account of my cancer

    2. they did not tell me that i will have some problems on health care

    3. they did not request for an extra medical exam

i went to my medical exams barely 2 months after the surgery. i even have a personal nurse with me during the medical interview. but they did not ask him anything.

i just had the usual medical exam.

re my interview, the consul just said, and i quote him "oh, he is 37, you are 32. he's a manager and you are a law graduate (then he reads something on the computer monitor)

it's about time you get married! congratulations!"

although it was all a breeze. i still cannot answer anything about insurance and all. our wedding will be on the 28th and i have yet to file papers so i will be included in his insurance.

i am aware that cancer is a pre existing condition. and they may not cover it. but im keeping my fingers crossed that my medical reports (that i am cancer free) will help.

if they will not cover me on account of "cancer" , they may cover me on other usual sickness that are not cancer related. i will update you as soon as i am on that stage :)

goodluck to you. and dont worry too much! :) i will keep you in my prayers. may your visa journey be smooth and that the only hard part is the waiting. :)

    take care!

    Teeway

Thank you so much for your reply. I am glad to hear that you are cancer free and that you also got your K1 visa and are already in the USA. Would you please let me know if they mentioned the issue at the interview? did they say something regarding you becoming a federal charge? something related with the health care? did they requested extra medical exams? thanks for any information you can provide me, we just want to make the best decision with the help of others. Good luck with your recovery, are you going through chemo or radio?

    Regards,

    Janeth

  2. Hi! the answer is NO. :) my fiance and i filed for K1 last November 2011. i was diagnosed with stage1 cancer last February 2012. had surgery last March. no metastasis was found.

I am already here in the US since June 13 :)

Hello there!!! I am a Colombian girl, 41 years old, dating a USA citizen for 3 years and 8 months now. He is a dentist, I am a Professor, we lived together for one year while I was a visiting scholar in a University in Atlanta, I was a J1 and my daughter a J2. After that year my daughter and I returned to our country, requested a waiver of the two year home residency that was already granted by the USCIS. MY boyfriend and I decided to file for a fiancee visa, we got all the pictures, emails, flight tickets, etc. but before doing so, I was diagnosed with a stomach cancer, I went to surgery and they removed my whole stomach, no metastasis thanks God :) . I am right now going through chemo and radiation and will be done with the treatment at the end of October. We are planning to file for the K1 visa at the end of July but I am afraid that when I go through the medical exams they reject me because of my surgery and because on the Xrays they will see I have no stomach. I will need an advice if it will be better that my boyfriend comes to Colombia and we get married here to file immediately for a CR1 or if the fact that I went through cancer will be an obstacle. Anyone with a similar experience? I would love to hear from you, any help will be welcomed.

    Janeth (F)

  3. Congratulations!

Don't worry, the NOA2 is on the way. We were approved on 2/29/12 and got NVC notice about a week and half later but no NOA2. NOA2 just arrived this week! In fact, packet 4 had already been mailed on March 13 to my fiance but takes about a month to receive. Your letter is on the way, just takes a little longer than the other.

Good luck with the rest of your journey.

I hope you're right! Further research (in other words, running every keyword search I can think of) shows that it isnt the rarest thing in the world for the USCIS to fail to deliver the NoA2. If that happens, from what I read, they're gonna demand another $340 for a copy I never received:(

  4. So, here I am thinking that my fiancee' Teeway and I are smoothly progressing on our K1 Visa experience. This month we received the letter from the NVC stating that our application was accepted and moving on to the Manila Embassy. That letter was dated March 7th. It took a while for us to realize it, but shouldn't the NVC letter have arrived weeks AFTER the NoA2?

The reason I ask is because we have never received the NoA2. Judging from the NVC letter's date, the NoA2 date is probably mid-February. But the USCIS website still lists the application as untouched since November, and my mailbox has been empty. At what point should I contact the USCIS to ask where my NoA2 is? If they mailed it to me and it was lost along the way, can I simply request that it be re-sent? It felt so good to be moving along the process, but this has the two of us a little concerned.
