  1. Also, another question is the:

    DS-230.

In line 14 of this document. It asks for "Spouses Name"

Problem is we aren't married yet. So how is this approached. There isn't anyplace to put my name on the document. I am the American. She is the Canadian and it seems like I should put my name on the the Spouse section. BUT if I say I am a spouse, aren't we saying we are actually married, when we aren't?

The whole idea of K1 visa is to get married after the visa, so I am confused as to what to do with this form.

  2. We got approved by USCIS. We are now waiting for the consulate to send us packet 3. We are going to download it online and do it ourselves. That is the stage we are at.

    THE QUESTION IS:

My fiance was here on a student visa during the summer of 2011 until August 11, 2011.

We applied for K1 VISA on September 2012.

It says on this web page:

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/info/info_1288.html

...that she has too spend two years in Canada before receiving another VISA.

    Does that apply to us?

Would the USCIS have approved us if this was necessary? (All the info of her student visa was included in the I129F packet we sent in, so we weren't trying to hide it.)

Will the consulate find this information and say that she still can't come in until the 2 years is up?

  3. 4. Preparing Packet 3

Waiting for P3 to physically arrive can be a fruitless task. Many people never get it, sometimes only the petitioner gets it, sometimes it shows up months later. If you want to expedite the process, don’t wait for it. There’s nothing including in Packet 3 that isn’t available on Montreal’s website: http://montreal.usco...ument=visa_pkt3

Since even the website can be a little confusing, this is what you send back (all forms available above at Montreal’s website):

    Signed Checklist

    DS-160 x 1

    DS-156K x 1

    DS-230 x 1

    DS-156 x 2

US style passport photos of the beneficiary x 2

Many have found it helpful to also include a very brief cover letter summarizing the contents, providing an email address and re-iterating the MTL case #.

(If you are doing a K2 as well, don’t forget the forms for them!)

    Is this info still relevant?

If so, we want to do this instead of waiting, but I wanted to check and make sure first. There aren't any new procedures or any new forms since this was last edited?

  4. Thank you very much for the help!

    I filled out the timeline.

It's funny, or not funny really, I've contacted the NVC twice and they said that it is out of their hands now. And to just call the consulate, but they never gave me any new Number to give to the consulate.

Tried calling NVC back, but they said they aren't taking any calls now.

  5. I am American. My fiance is Canadian. In September of 2012 USCIS received our application packet for our I29f. On February 28, 2013 we received I-797 Notice of Action Letter stating that we have been approved. It said to follow directions listed on this letter.

The only directions are that we can call a consulate to change consulates.

I called the USCIS number but they said to call the consulate.

We tried calling the consulate in Montreal. My fiance called. They said it could take up to 5 to 7 months for them to call my fiance. Is that true??? They then said they don't have the file and that the USCIS was wrong.

    What do we do next?

It was too my understanding that the K1 process takes around 6 to 8 months.

Anybody also know how long this part of the process takes??

I am very grateful for any insight anybody can provide.

    Thank you!

  7. Hello. Can my fiance, who is in Canada now. I am in the USA. Can she sign and date her forms and then email me copies of them to print out or do they need the original copies with the actual ink on them. Asking so that we can save the time of her mailing them to me hopefully.

I am hoping she can just print them out herself, sign them, scan them, email them back to me?

    Thank you!

  8. I am applying for a K-1 Visa. My fiance (Canadian citizen) did come to the US on a student visa last year and was given a social security number to use for when she worked.

Is a social security number received from a student visa temporary?

Should I put this number on the K1 application for her as her SS #?

Or are they only valid while the student visa was valid?

I've been trying to find information on this, but I have been unsuccessful, so I figured I'd try here.

    Thank you!

  9. The thruth is right and lies are wrong.

Yes it is necessary for both with the I-129f.

List ALL residence addresses for the past 5 years.

I definitely not trying to avoid anything, just want to put the right information in there.

We only fill out one I-129F correct? Did you mean we each have to fill out one a piece? Both our information is on one of them, so don't understand if you meant for us to each fill one out?

Also on the G-325A, it asks for residence in the last five years. This summer she spent with me in the United States. She was a visitor here not a resident. Does she put her Canadian residence address even though she was here for the summer?

  10. So in the section of her residence in the last five years.

Her residence is in Canada. When she visited here this summer. Was her residence considered my address or is she considered a visitor and her residence is still her canadian address, even though she was visiting here for the summer??

  11. Hello. Working on preparing documents to apply for the K-1 Visa. I am an American. My fiance is Canadian.

    Is the G-325A absolutely necessary?

If so, do both of us fill it out?

She has visited on student Visa's before and had an address.

This summer, while we were not engaged, she visited for about 3 months at my place in the United States. Is that bad to state? Trying to understand what is wrong and what isn't wrong. I am afraid to make a mistake with the paperwork.

    Thank you for any help!

  12. Hello yall. I am applying for I-129F. Can I just make a photocopy of my birth certificate? And also, there is no information written on the back of it, no signatures or nothing. Is that bad?

And it is to my understanding that the section to "Give number of certiicate, date and place it was issued" only applies to those who acquired citizenship through naturalization right?

    Thank you!
