  1. We didn't send in a cover letter and the interview date was about 4 weeks out. As Nich-Nick mentioned unless you had a certain interview date due to an early wedding it wont matter. Jodie actually sent in another DS form with a cover letter just in case, due to reading post here on VJ saying you needed one, but her interview letter came 1 day later.

Hopefully you have planned it out and were expecting about a 4 week(ish) wait as we were. Lucky for us our timing has worked in our favor as she will be here during my short break between my teaching spring and summer classes, for that thing we call wedding and more forms.

  2. Anron,

What cover letter did you forget. There is no instructions from the embassy that a "cover Letter" is needed just the DS-2001, that is how the embassy knows you have submitted all documents.

You submitted your docs about the same time as Jodie, hopefully we all will receive word this week.

This is what the form that you received says: "You or your agent may notify the US embassy or consulate listed on the cover letter that you are ready for an interview by using this form DS2001."

  3. I visited Jodie over the holidays in the U.K. and this is how it went at the custom line. Who are you visiting? My Fiancee Are you moving here or is she moving there? She is moving to the US Has she ever visited you before? Yes twice Is this your first time here? yes

Me: I have a our NOA1 from USICS if you would like to see it, it shows we have paperwork in for a K-1 visa

Stamp the passport and off I go.

I just made sure I had the piece of paper just in case but once I offered it up I was off to collect my bag.

  4. I've been with them for almost 6 years, in the same office, which has made the decision to tell them so much easier

I'm very lucky, its a tough decision and hard to hide your excitement over what you're going through right now

You're right at the beginning of your journey. I told them after the NOA2

  5. I told my employers after he visited at Christmas and gave me my engagement ring. They also know I have applied for a Visa. I work for the Civil service. Contrary to what I thought would happen everyone (my managers included) have been nothing but really excited for me and expressed how much they would do the same in my situation. I've told my manager about the 2 trips to London I'll need to make and why and she's been pretty understanding that it might mean granting me leave at short notice so I can travel.

I agonised over telling them, but decided in the end I didn't really want to hide my joy or take my ring off to go to work and being the civil service you can't just set my contract on fire and kick me out the door, so I'm lucky in that respect

All my managers actually TOLD me to apply for the recent promotion exercise, just in case my visa suffers any delays. So I've also done that and seen as it's decided outside my office, I might actually get it

    Jodie
