I traveled a couple times with my extension letter and expired green card - I went through LAX, and had to show it before getting on a cruise ship at customs at a dock in Vancouver Canada. Latter felt like that would be the most tricky as it's just cruise ship and cargo ships they deal with day to day. I had no problems and they all told me "good luck on your interview." I really didn't want to get an infopass to stamp - I would be going through the Los Angeles immigration office which is very busy and an all day affair even with an appointment. When I went for my interview just to get into the building was a long wait.

Just to kind of piggyback on here. How do I find out if I can vote? I poked around the elections Canada site and couldn't find anything. I haven't received any mail correspondence. I left Canada in 2012.

So at what point do they notify you of an interview? Before ir after biometrics? Just curious because we are one of the last coiples on VJ who filed in May and just got our bio letter. Appointment is this Thursday. Just Wondering if it will be smooth sailing after that or if we could still get notified of an interview
I got my interview letter about 2 months after I did biometrics. The letter gave 1 month notice until my interview.
There's not much info on the interview, but the letter has a big list of stuff to bring. They should tell you at the start of the application process to continue to gather supporting evidence just in case you get called in for an interview (at least in my case, I'm greencarding via marriage). They wanted stuff in addition to what I sent them with my lifting conditions application. The stuff that was a scramble to get in time was another marriage certificate and my husband (US Citizen) Birth certificate. They liked my photos, travels I did since filing, and current bank statements.

Today was my interview. I brought way more stuff than they needed (why did they ask for an entire copy of my application and EVERY document immigration has even sent us?), as all they wanted was as much ID we can throw at them, marriage documents and relationship evidence.
Anyways, after interviewing us individually I got approved! Now to wait for the card.
The immigration officer said I'll be back there again for interview/test if I go for citizenship.

News for me from USCIS.
I'm being called in for an interview regarding my Lifting Conditions on September 14th. Uggg! Dang it, now I gotta find copies for everything I sent in, as well as take a day off to go in with my husband.
Are interviews chosen at random, or did I mess up my application/not bring enough evidence?
Hopefully I updated the thing correctly.

There is indeed someone who will sign for that PO box. My post office said regardless of whether it's a PO box, there is someone there to sign for it.
I mailed mine in May (California filer) and opted for flat rate priority with a signature and it was signed for when it arrived at the PO Box. Better safe that sorry, especially with that short 90 day window.

You have to do the driving test again in California as per the California DMV since you are from another country.
If you have a license from another country, you will be required to take a driving test. If you have a license from another state, the driving test can be waived.

Look at the June 2015 filers thread - some CSC people already have their biometrics dates, one already went to their appointment. I would do an Infopass and look into it.

Is anybody else still waiting on biometrics appointment letter from csc. I have been waiting for a month now
I'd infopass it soon. Everyone has got their biometrics appointment just over a month after their NOA, with their letter coming about 2 weeks prior to that.
There's a couple people I saw who filed March or April that had never gotten theirs either until they complained. It was claimed their biometrics office was full (but then May filers were still getting and going to their appointments).

May filer here! I mailed my ROC April 30 2015, paperwork arrived today at the California Service Center. Hope I get my biometrics date soon, I want to book a summer holiday!

I've just about gathered all my evidence and going to work on filling out I-751 and I see on the actual form and instructions is going to expire soon! http://www.uscis.gov/i-751
I'm hoping to file end of the month.
Should I wait until May when the form is updated incase there are changes? Does it matter if I use the old form and send it after the expiry date?

Ewwww! I got out of my Telus contract (internet) due to moving, which was great! They even brought it up that I won't be charged any cancellation fees.
For Bell, I did not pay $500 thats for sure, more like $200. I left BC in 2012.

My husband and I are smoking a turkey for canadian thanksgiving! My husband's favorite holiday is thanksgiving, so he's super happy to have an excuse to have two thanksgivings. I'm gonna make nanaimo bars and butter tarts too!

I recently got my greencard (I AOS'd from a K-1 visa). I went and got my SS card a few weeks after I arrived in the US.
From what I understand, I need to go back to the Social Security office to update them about my greencard - plus get a new SS card that doesn't say anything about restrictions on it.
I was googling around and read that I need state ID or DL, which I haven't gotten around to getting yet. I have my canadian passport, driver's license and birth certificate - would that work instead?
Then, on the state ID (california) form, it says I need my SS card, but I'm not sure if they are okay with my current one, or I need the updated one. With that said, I'm unsure whether I should hit up the DMV first, or the Social Security office - or does that matter?

I wasn't asked at the medical or interview last year, nor did it come up at my AOS. I worked as an alcohol & drug counsellor when I lived in Canada and my work did come up in my medical/interview (I figure I had a mixed chance they'd ask as 1. many drug counsellors are ex addicts or 2. drug counsellors = don't use). Though, it would be easy enough of a question for me to deal with as I never used any substances.
Has anyone been asked about this recently at their interview/medical?
However, I was warned by a number of friends who all knew someone who was denied and told to reapply after rehab (for just admitting to using pot in the past, geeze!) in a year or two. If you are super worried, have her get a note from the doctor claiming she does not use substances/hasn't used in X years/not addicted to anything - I'm guessing that be the best evidence she can get her hands on - and only give it if asked.

I just got a call from my immigration lawyer - she got my notice that my AOS is approved! FINALLLY, geeeeeze! Now to wait for the card.
I'm a end of September filer, so hopefully the rest of you hear something soon, and ditto for the October peeps!

I was told one would file a I-130 if you came on a K-1 and fulfilled it, but didn't file for AOS after either a year or two. If that doesn't apply, save your money on the I-130 filing fee.

I moved from BC to California, so pricing prolly different. The website has a calculator and they can email you back with an estimate - also some days are cheaper than others. I also opted to unload my cube at their site instead of them dropping it at my house, which was a short drive away.
But yeah, for me renting a truck was more than the cube - all before having to pay gas, lodging and time on the road. Ditto for my husband flying tot he border and renting a truck. I think the pricing will vary greatly how far you have to go and you need to call around.

I had a small apartment of stuff and no big furniture - I used upack and got a relocube thing - it was cheaper than me uhauling my stuff from Canada.

You need a valid passport with like 6 months left on it to apply for AOS.
Though, I'd suggest more than that. Mine had 8 months on it and expired.. and I'm still waiting for my GC.

I was interviewed, then my husband (the USC) was interviewed. The officer then had to talk with her supervisor briefly to get the okay. We were then verbally told we were approved. The officer printed off an approval letter, stamped and signed it.
She also took my EAD and expired card. She also took all the i-94s (i-9??) from my passport - anything that was expired she took and voided.
You should be able to look up on the immigration site on your case progress and if they got your card printed/mailed. I never check because I'm lazy, but I was told it would be updated after the interview.
