I believe they are going to be like other consulates and the petitioner can no longer attend at all. I think they are being kind this week and allowing them inside but they will not bring them to interview window.
and maybe next week they will refuse them entry to embassy completely. Alot of other middle east africa embassy do not allow both inside. the wife waits at a cafe for 6 hours. It says limited space.
In october they had 450 interviews, in January they have 803 scheduled that i know of and probably more. There is no more room for you spouse and kids to hang out all day.
I think people should email them or call
•Due to space limitations, only applicants with scheduled appointments for visa interviews will be allowed inside the waiting rooms. American Citizen immigrant visa petitioners and all other non-applicants must remain outside.
will i guess you'll let us know since your interview is coming up
-
Hold on, so people can go into the waiting area? There's enough space because there's a courtyard where you can sit and wait. You do not have to be inside the waiting room for your number to be called. Picture an emergency room with a plaza/ courtyard in front of it.
So, this sounds to me like they're cracking down and tightening up. Maybe their numbers went up in complaints or reports of fraudulent cases and they may want to isolate each interviwee? Unless they've hired more consulars, I doubt they've over booked appointments. They only have 15 windows; 1 per consular. When I was there they used 4 of those windows for payments and other technical stuff. I really do hope this is not turning into a Lagos/ Casa camp!
So you can go into the waiting room but not the window.... i mean how does that work? ... are the windows inside the waiting room or are they in a separate room?

new since they have almost doubled their daily interviews since oct
people have to stand for hours or grab a seat quick. waiting room too full
that totally sucks, I mean I am planning to fly out miss my classes and work just so I can attend it and now I cant?? I really wanted to be AT the interview ... I hope it isnt set in stone
-
oh noooo so is this new an effective as of now??? or is it just temporary or what?? why did they change it? I hope that this is not a permanent rule.

We have also recently received packet 3 and so I am basing it on what we did
1- I called and asked about paying the $350- if we have to pay part at the CIB they said no, that now we just pay it all at the embassy come the day of the interview. Also, in the email they sent with packet 3 it said to pay $350 at the interview. So i hope that is correct- you can call to double check.
2- Call and ask- my fiance was able to schedule not sure which doctor but he got the appointment within 2 days and got the medical report after a week or so.
3- Yes, you need to attach the 5x5cm NOT 5X5 INCHES (ITS 2x2 INCHES) picture on form DS-165. There is a special box made for your to attached the picture its at the bottom right of one of the pages. But you need to have two copies of this form so two picture one for each copy. We also put 2 extra pictures attached to a blank sheet just in case.
Hope this helps!

I'm a 6'4" male. It has happened in the past that I am out walking late at night and a women becomes frightened of me and crosses the road or even runs to get away from me. I am no threat, but I know that, she does not. She runs because of stories she has heard or read in the newspapers and fear generated from her helplessness should I turn out to be a bad guy. I pay this price of being judged for the very small fraction of those who cause trouble and harm others. Unlike you, I am not about to yell that I am judged unfairly (which I am) or demand to be treated like the nice guy that I am. You have to get to know me to know I am not a bad guy. You cannot demand to be treated nicely either, because of tha :wht small minority who got you stereotyped.
So what do you do? Be the best person you can be and show others through your actions that their assumptions are wrong about you.
It seems that you have a rebuttal for everything, and not a very good one in this case. I'm just saying.

Oh no does that mean we won't get our interview till march? We just sent our package 3 back to the embassy
-
I just sent my fiance documents needed for package 3 via FedEx it cost me $99 I used priority. I sent it on Thursday, they told me he would receive it on Monday but he got it on Sunday! Little pricy but it gets there fast.

What is the point of this poll? I am an American Muslim and find it and some of the comments very offensive. I asked that this topic gets closed!
Before making assumptions about the religion or the people that follow it, go brush up on some facts. I don't mind people not liking it, but don't go out if your way to defame it.

The poverty line that they look at is 25K per year minimun and they want at least two solid years(at least that's what my lawyer told me). Since you are below it and currenly a student yourself i would definity recommend co-sponsor with a solid income history. Sorry, but love is not enough the immigration wants to see that once you bring this person to the states you will be able to support both of you for a while till he/she gets a job; they don't want to admit anyone that will be living off the government support. Good luck.
25k per year? First time I heard this- according to the USCIS website its $18,387 -that is the 125% poverty line, and i do not have any dependents maybe in your case it was more.
I think the actual poverty line for 2 people is 18,400.
But do the fiance visas have a different standard? I know they fill out the I134 instead of the I-864.
I hope another fiance person can answer for you.
Yes the standard is actually lower- 100% poverty line but they look for 125% poverty line- I meet the requirement and I have proof that I will for the future so I dont see the problem?

Ok so I have two different jobs at two different states (I am a grad student working in my Grad School but I also have a job in my home state)
-This is my first year (2011) meeting the poverty line, will it be a problem? About 19,200
-Havent file taxes yet because year is not over, so no W-2 but can I send my pay-stubs from both jobs and a sheet explaining the calculations and what not?
-Should we send in a copy of my 2010 taxes even though I did not meet the poverty line? But I do not have my W2 not sure where it is.
-I will add an employment letter from Job 1 and a letter from my earnings from school (job2) to proof I will have both jobs next year.
-BTW, I do not have a co-sponsor
-I have 6k in savings and have a letter from my bank stating so.
-Do i sign I-134 in front of the officer? The email they send with Package 3 content said so ....
Do you think this is enough? Pleasseeeeeeee help

You must fill DS 230. Our case was delayed because they forgot to give us that form via email. When we filled and sent everything, they returned the package because that form was missing. We had to re-send everything!
Fill everything and send it.
Thanks!

I think with Cairo embassy it is always better to be over prepared and have extra documents.
Do not give them any reason to delay your visa.
Have everything they could possibly ask for and MORE
Good Luck
Can i prepare those documents than for the interview? And not send them in now, when sending package 3 back to embassy?
P.S. i will update my timeline

recent communications received directly from the consulate trumps info here which may be dated
ok thanks
so i guess no letter of intent needed either....

We just received package 3 via email-and I am comparing it with the list here on the Egyptian Consulate Package 3 forms :
( 2 ) DS-156 NON-IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION
( 1 ) DS-156K NON-IMMIGRANT FIANCE VISA APPLICATION
( 1 ) DS-157 THE SUPPLEMENTAL FORM
( 1 ) DS-158 CONTACT AND WORK HISTORY FOR NON-IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICANT
( 1 ) I-134 AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT FORM
In the email we received :
( 1 ) DS-156 NON-IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION
( 1 ) DS-156K NON-IMMIGRANT FIANCE VISA APPLICATION
( 1 ) I-134 AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT FORM
( 1 ) DS-0230
Do we need the DS-157 and DS-158? Why didnt they supply us with the forms?
Also, they said nothing about the letter of intent??

So we are waiting on receiving package 3 from Cairo. My fiance isnt residing at the address he once was- he can have his mom go there from time to time. But we are worried we will miss the package delivery. Is there a way to know when they will send it? Will they call his cell phone or something? Can I call them to inquire?
Please help.
BTW our case was sent by NVC on Dec 8th. I checked and it arrived in Egypt on the 11th.

Omg my fiancé just got a phone call that our interview is this Sunday, talk about last minute notice. We are so excited, but my concern is we didn't receive a letter and we asked they said we don't need it. Will we face a problem? How will he get in the embassy?
