  1. I know NYC is slow.. however shouldn't be that slow.. After 6 month, you can request infopass and talk to them in person. Hope you can get news SOON!

yea we filed from NYC.. so that explains it i guess?? I called them and spoke to the supervisor which was no help, she said they dont have a standard processing time for MSC :bonk:

If you are AOS from K1 - you are not alone. Most of the September filers who are adjusting from K1 whose applications are being processed at MSC (did not get sent to local field office for interview) are still waiting. In fact, there are still people from july and august who are still waiting. There is a different thread going for Sept AOS from k1 filers.... you are not alone :)

I am also glad we r not alone.. i need to find this other thread

  2. I hope all stays calm. I used to worry about my husband so much during the riots even though he lived in a safe place. Now he is with me but I will worry about him worrying for all his family.

And I posted this in case people were planning to travel to Egypt so they were aware.

yea we were really worried about our family when the chaos was happening i just cant wait to get my fiance away from the unstableness :(

  3. If this helps at all i was concerned about the same thing  - my income for 2011 barely meet the requirement and my 2009 and 2010 were below- we still go approved without a co-sponcer  ..... in fact our interview was before i could file the 2011 taxes so i gave them pay-stubs for 2011 and my 2010 taxes which was below but i provided an explanation page lol.. we kinda played with fire but we didnt have choice. Also i showed evidence of about the same savings amount as you, it wont hurt! FYI I am a full time Grad student.

every consulate is different but Egypt is not easy when it comes to affidavit of support so I think we were lucky, good luck

  4. Welcome..:)

You can call NVC and check for the NVC case number and then provide the emails of the Petitioner and Beneficiary so that u will not miss out any communication from NVC. Th waiting time of 10yrs are evenly spread out. If you wait 1 year in USCIS, then the remaining 9yrs will be in NVC..Right now there are no forms or fees at this point..

    Good Luck..

Hey thanks a lot for your help!

  5. what i am really curious about it how they come up with the so called "wait time". We were told 4-6 weeks in AP, you were told 6-8 weeks in AP someone was told 14 weeks other were told 2 weeks. I mean are they just throwing out random numbers at us?? I dont understand how they come up with these wait times which are bogus anyways BECAUSE we still waiting ... :bonk:

  6. hey can you guys help me with a quick question.. my mom petitioned for her sister (my aunt) on Jan, 8th 2010 and she got an approval July, 16 2010 saying it was forwarded to the NVC-- umm she has just been waiting but what are the next steps? I mean its been two years i know the wait is 10 but is she supposed to do anything else meanwhile? she hasnt contacted the NVC at all are there more forms or fees at this point?

    thanks

  7. Hey my fiance has his interview Feb 5th and we were approved but she offered his passport back in case he needs it but he said no so she kept it- so dont worry about them giving him back the passport. He even told her wait why are you offering my passport back i? I thought you said we are approved? She said no you are approved but we dont need the passport until we are ready to issue the visa. But either way he didnt need it so they have his passport. We are in AP, she told him you'll get it within 4-6 weeks BUT we are still waiting  That white paper will have his case number and how to track the case. But the website just tell you "your case is under processing" blah blah doesnt give you much.

    Good Luck

  8. I googled congressman for my zip code. Then had to figure out which one it was. Went to his website. Filled out consent form to give permission to maje a congresaional inquiry. Wrote me and husbands,name... Cro number. Stated facts of interview jan and placed in ap and no further info given. I would appreciate a congressional inquiry. Thank you and phone number faxed to them

In order for the congressman or senator to help you have to fill out a concent form. You can fax or mail it back to them.

    Togetherforever13,

Thank you for your kind words and prayers. This month marks 15 months in AP for us. I don't know how I survive each day without my husband. Sometimes I feel like I will lose my mind if I hear pending AP another time from DOS. It does give me hope when I see people getting their visas. Pakistan is famous for long AP's and I don't understand why.

My senators office didn't want to help me so I ended up using my congressman's office. They send an email to the embassy every few weeks. I hope we all come out of AP soon.

i found my congresswoman's website but cant seem to find this form... is there a link you can provide? or i can just email them i dunno...

btw congrats on your visa togetherforver13! nice to know cairo embassy is moving somewhat along....

  9. If I were you I would contact the other congressman myself and email the form to him. I would not wait for them to contact me.

My husbands visa will be delivered today!

12 days after the Congressional Inquiry on our file the AP became complete.

They did not touch his file for 29 days due to backlog and waiting for an available FBI agent to review the background check.

AP took 50 days and it will take 56 days from interview to get his visa in his hand later today.

what form are you refering to? im thinking of contacting my local congressman/woman we are over a month in out AP but its worh a shot.

  10. hey there,

he is exempt if he is the only son (even if he has sisters) but if he has a brother he must go into the military-

the other exemption is that sometimes since Egypt is currently not at war (hope not) and we have a huge army as it is - they exempt certain years from having to go into military duty. So let say he is born year 87 or w/e than that year maybe exempt but i thats up to them so maybe his year gets lucky

    good luck

p.s. also for stupid medical reasons too as mentioned above- like having flat feet lol  (true story)

  11. Thanks, I think we will go overboard on this packet instead of taking the "less is more" approach we took when we iunitially replied...now i have another question. On 134 it asks exactly what you intend to provide for your fiance and for how long? Is this a trick question? what did youwrite?

After researching on VJ i put N/A which is the safe answer and we had no problems- some people specifically what they will provide. The question is worded strangely.

  12. Hello there

For my case, I followed everything on visajourney and did not find it misleading- i know sometimes it seems as there are contradictory info but in the end it was all good

I will try to help with your questions as my fiance and I have just went through the K1 process and had our interview on the 5th.

When does he submit his physicla results? When he returns packet 3 OR at the time of his interview? He should return it with his packet 3

Packet 3 does not request my pay stubs or bank records, but I see many visa journey members send them in packet 3 back to the embassy. do I or dont i? I sent mine in- you can send copies.

As for the letters from my employers, will my employers be contacted via phone for confirmation? I work a professional job but with irregular contracts and schedules so I am worried that if the employers are contacted the Embassy might not be provided the proper information.- They usually do not call- but you never know...can you provide other forms of contact? maybe it should be specified in the letter

How much is the physical? I believe its around 400-500 EGP

Which vaccinations have Egyptian benficiaries been required to have? how much? Sorry I am not sure about this one

what exactly should he take with him to his interview? can I attend his interview ith him. The embassy site says NO, but i see a few k1s that say they went in teh embassy with their fiance.- You should take all evidence that proof your tie to your fiance- pics, emails, phone records, skype records, engagement party photos if any with family members, engagment ring receipt, etc.... The embassy recently changes the rules- you are no longer allowed to attend the interview. When I went I had to wait outside- but I gave my fiance my passport so he can show the counsler that i am here ( but she didnt ask for it). They told me if I was needed they would call me from outside the embassy.

Good Luck- I am sure others will fill in missing info...

Also- you should probably fill in your timeline so others can help you- it will come in handy since your about to send in the packet 3 and are waiting for your interview date

  13. Sorry about the wait, didn't get a chance till now here is the review. But I forgot to mention in the review that they mentioned nothing about my income which was just enough as of year 2011 I had only given them paystubs and a sheet explaining my income for 2011 because I sent my 2010 taxes which my income was low.

We got a phone call 4 days before out interview notifying us of our date, so no letter or anything which concerned me. We got there around 7:30 am there was a line already so we stood at the end. Our interview was at 8:30 so the people working there said that only people with 7am appts can stand. So a lot of people had to leave the line and stand across the street. Once the line got shorter and near 8 am or so they called everyone back and ofcourse everyone ran to the line. My fiancé asked one of the ppl working where are we supposed to stand he told him we are a k-1 visa. So the guy said you stand on the immigration line so got to skip the long line and there were only maybe 6 other ppl on the immigration line and we were first on line. The non immigration line was really long. Anyways so the other ppl on the immigration line didn't have letters for their appt because they also got last minute phone calls. So the workers said yes we are printing the report for the immigration appts, so we waited a little bit for the list and when the guy came with the report he asked us our case # I saw the report it only maybe 6 or 7. So he signed an envelope we had as so my fiancé can enter with that signature. They told me I can't go in but that if they need me they will call me from outside the embassy. So I waited and my fiancé was out after 1 hour and 10 mins. I was shocked and I was like???? He said thank god we got approved. He said he never felt like he was speaking to a counsler as she was very nice and spoke to him in Arabic not perfect arabic but good enough. She asked him maybe 4 or 5 questions. where did you meet? Where is she from? Is she originally Egyptian? Why do you want to get married in USA and not Egypt ? So she said ok I approve your case and kept his passport but said it will take a month to recieve it. She offered him his passport incase he needs it within a month he said no so she kept it and gave him a paper with our case number and how to track it.

Also my fiancé told her I have an album and my fiancée is outside she said no it's ok :)

  14. No he did his medical in December if I remember correctly, yes they called him on Thursday.actually the air fare cost me $770 for a round trip on Egypt air they had a deal. I had just emailed the embassy asking for details on when we can get an interview (the day before they called) and I just got back a generic response that it's still pending a date and next thing you know they call

  15. Oh..so you are going with him; then once they see you at the gate with ur US passport then they will let him go in for an interview for sure

but I'm not sure if you could get in with him...

You both will definitly not be interviewing, only if the embassy requested you for an interview as well...

thanks so much that makes me assured, i know its not fair i wont be able to attend :( but still want to be there for moral support. Im just still shocked they told us the appointment via phone call 4 days in advance.....
