I checked the case status on USCIS website. The application is under testing and interview phase.
Is this mean that we may get 2nd interview?

Hello everyone:
My wife and I had an AOS interview at Local immigration office.
The officer asked us some general questions, the she give us a form titled I-485 Adjustment of Status Application Interview Result
We were not approved on the spot. The IO checked Your application has been continued for reasons check below --> Further Review of your application.
The IO told us she may request additional information from us (INS will do further background review). The further review may take 30 days.
At this point, I think there are 2 possibilities:
1) INS will approve our case, then send us mail for green card mailing date
2) INS will request additional information from us in order to approve the case
What's your experience or insight in situation like this? Please share your experience / advises with us.
I appreciate your input, Visajourney has been a great help that accompany us through the visa application process.

Thanks for the reply CC90 and Little_My. I now have a idea how long it takes to process the AOS package:)

Hello everyone:
We filed AOS in 8/2011. My status-USC. My wife status: F1 visa, she is on OPT now. We live together in California.
1. How many interviews are there for the AOS application?
I think probably 3 interviews: Biometrics interview, Advanced Parole interview and final interview for the Green Card.
2. How long will it take to process AOS package and get interview scheduled?
I think it's case-by-case, normally it took 4-6 month. It might be longer right?

Hello everyone:
We filed AOS package in 8/2011. We received NOA for I-130, I-485, I-797 and I-131.
My status-USC. My wife status: F1 visa, she is on OPT now. We live together in California.
My wife is considering move to another state to find employment opportunities.
a. I would like to know what if we live at different address, will this rise a red flag for the interview?
b. If she reside in another state and start working, Shall We file change of address (form AR-11) or we should continue same address that we used on I-485 form?
Please give us some suggestion and share your insights. Thanks!

Hello everyone:
I am preparing AOS package with my wife. My status-USC. My wife status: F1 visa, she is on OPT now. We live together in California.
I am going to use our assets to meet the requirement (3x the poverty line)
1. Should I provide 12 month or 6 month bank statements to show I have consistent figures in the bank?I provided 12 month bank statements
1a. I made significant withdrawals in March and April this year. Now the balance is back to normal. Should I put an explanation for the withdrawals?USCIS official should make decision on this one
1b. Should I ask banker to write a statement that I have consistent savings during last 12 month period?I asked my bank to give a statement to show when the accounts are opened with current balance for each account.
2. for my investment assets (mutual funds, bonds etc), shall I provide most recent balancestatement or I should provide past 12 month balance as well?
I attached quarterly statements.

Im currently TN status, just married a USC, filling out all the forms for AOS and working on I-131 Advance Parole now and wanted to confirm a few things:
Part 1, 3. Class of Admission- TN-1 Status- Correct? Please check the stamp on your visa page(passport). It should states your admission status
Part 2, Application Type- d. I am applying for an advance parole document to allow to to return to the US after temporary foreign travel- Correct?Yes, this is correct. My wife also file for AOS under F-1 Visa
Part 3, 1/2. Date of Intended Departure/ Expected Length of Trip- Im not exactly sure when my next trip will be- perhaps Sept. 2/2011 back to Canada for a few days. Is that too early? I was hoping this would be an open ended document that would allow me to travel back to Canada for weekend trips, Christmas vacation, etc. Do I just put my first plan trip here, and then will it be open ended after that? You can put your first intended travel date. Other forum members that you wait for approval of I-131. before you leave the country.
What kind of explanation or other evidence do I need to prepare showing circumstances that warrant issuance of an Advance Parole Document. Just state that I am filing all of my AOS paperwork concurrently?'you can see my post that may help you write the explanation
Again, thanks in advance, I sleep much better at night being able to double check and confirm all of this stuff.I hope this helps.

Hello everyone:
I am preparing AOS package with my wife. My status-USC. My wife status: F1 visa, she is on OPT now. We are going to file I-765 with I-485 concurrently.
My wife applied EAD (filed I-765) before, her I-766 expires in 2-2012.
1. Which category does my wife belong?
a)Permission to accept employment or b)Renewal of my permission to accept employment
1b. Should we wait until her I-766 expires then apply for renew EAD? Or USCIS will Issue
a new working permit to her (if filed I-765 concurrently with I-485)
1b. Filing fee and Biometric fee?
Instruction indicate if I-765 filed for renew EAD and category is C9, no filing fee is required. I guess Biometric fee is not required either in my case. Please help me to confirm.
Thanks for your help!

Hello everyone:
I am preparing AOS package with my wife. My status-USC. My wife status: F1 visa, she is on OPT now. We live together in California. We are going to file I-131 with I-485 concurrently.
Thanks for all the replies. I found answers to my own questions.
My questions are as following:
1. Part2-Application Type. Should I check Box A or D?you should check box D
1b. Is she falls under advance parole category, should I skip to part 7? Or I need to fill all the parts (part3, part4.. all the way to the end)?you should skip to part7
1c. I can leave section under box F all blank right? it asks for name, address etcyou can leave the section blank
2. Fee required: $360 for reentry permit + $80 for Biometric fee2a. Do we need to pay $80 Biometric fee? I-131 instruction specifies, "No biometric fee is required for advance parole application."
2b. I think we don't need to pay $360, since we file I-485 and I-131 concurrently.
If you file I-131 and I-485 concurrently, no need to pay I-131 application fee.
If you file I-131 under advance parole status, no need to pay Biometric fee.
3. Part5-Complete only if Applying Reentry Permit. this related back to 1a.should I skip this section if she applies for advance parole?
under advance parole statue. you should skip part 5
4. Part7-Complete if only applying for Advance Parole4a. what message should I say on a separate paper to show my wife qualify for a advance parole. what circumstances warrant issuance of advance parole?
4b. what type of documents i need to submit to support advance parole application
4c. If you know other posts and links similar to my case and have answers to my questions, please share with me.
4a. On a separate paper, I indicated that my wife is filing I-485, I-130 and I-131 concurrently. this make her quality for advance parole
4b. Copy of her visa page from the passport, I-20 form, marriage certificate
4c. Guideline for advance parole
Thanks again for the help. Wish you all have a pleasant journey!

It is Advance Parole and if she leaves before it is approved and IN HER HAND she will be denied reentry to the US and her AOS will be abandoned. For the other questions, please read the guides. They have samples. The forms themselves also have instructions.
Hello Harpa: Thanks for answering my question 1a. I read the instructions and I came up with my questions. I hope get more help form the forum to answer rest of my questions.I wish everyone have a wonderful journey:)

Hello everyone:
I have questions for I-864 form. Questions- Q24-b,d,e, Q27 and Q28.
I am the petitioner (status: U.S. Citizen), my wife is the intending immigrants (She is on F-1 Visa, OPT status).
We live in the same residence in California.
My income doesn’t meet the 125% poverty line requirement. I am going to use my assets (savings, bonds, investment etc) and my wife’s assets (savings, bonds, CDs etc) to meet the income requirement. Our combined asset value is 3 times the requirements.
1. Should I use my spouse’s income or only her assets on I-864 Form
For Q24-b. I entered my wife’s income from her temporary contract job. Now, she doesn’t hold the same job and she is job hunting. I entered her income in this box. Based on I-864 Instruction: the spouse’s income must continue from the same source after he/she becomes LPR. Should I count her income as part of household come or I should enter 0? My concern is immigration official may ask for proof of current employment for income resource.
2. Do I or my wife need to fill out I-864A form?
Based on I-864A instruction: if the sponsor using intending immigrant’s income on I-864 to meet the eligibility requirement. You need to complete I-864A only if you have accompanying dependents (my wife doesn’t have dependents). If your sponsor is including only your assets on I-864, you do not need to comply this form (I-864A). This question related to Q24-D and Q24-E. Should I check box D or E?
Q26-A: I have a joint bank account with my wife. Should I count only my portion in the account and let my wife count her portion in Q28-A or I can use total amount of this account for this question?
4. Q27 – I entered N/A and 0 (in case that my wife don’t need to fill out I-864A form)
5. Is our asset value is enough to meet the requirement? Or I need to ask another co-sponsor to help us? (I saw some form instructions says the income or asset needs to be 5 times the difference between sponsor’s income and poverty line)
I appreciate your help and suggestions!
Jeff

Dear Visajourney members:
my wife and I are very happy to let you know our application for AOS got approved.
I learned great deal from the forum, I appreciate your timely responses and advises.
We interviewed at San Francisco immigration office. the whole process (including waiting time) is about 50 minutes.
We had a nice IO, who didn't ask us tough questions.
Here are the questions we were asked by IO:
Once again many thanks to this forum, I wish your guys have a pleasant journey!
P.S. I have one more question - how did you make you timeline display ( I saw some members have their time line displayed
on each post they posted.)
