  3. Sent my packet to VSC on 7/8. It was delivered on 7/11 according to the USPS tracking service. They didn't cashed my check or sent a NOA yet. Is it too early to be worried? I've seen people having their checks cashed so quickly, I got a little jealous :). My Conditional GC expires on 9/28.

you might be getting your noa this week in the mail, I also sent mine to VSC on 7/8, they received it on 7/10, I got the NOA letter in the mail today 7/16.

  6. My fiance had called the office you had recommended for Dr. João Jorge Leite. he had an opening for next Monday, April 1st, which works out perfect. The office had told him that they will send his results through overnight service with Sedex so we wont have to travel back to Sao Paulo to pick up the results.

Great news, I hope everything work out good for you guys. Good luck!

  7. Thank you so much for those links! I was wondering if by any chance if you did the medical in Sao Paulo? I noticed there are two doctors for Sao Paulo on the list and was wondering if you had done it there what doctor you used, or if by any chance know about those doctors if you have any recommendations.

My fiance lives closer to Sao Paulo and plans on doing the medical exam there.

Yes, I did my examination in Sao Paulo with Dr. Joao Jorge Leite, I highly recommend him, his office is kind of busy but it worked really good for me, I suggest your fiance to call him (not to send an email once they don't reply right away) as soon as possible and ask him what are the vaccines he should take before coming for the appointment, this is his website http://www.examemedicovisto.com/exame_medico_visto_eua.html

    His contact information and address: Rua Sergipe, 441 cj 111, São Paulo-SP - Telefone: (11) 3661-9522 e 3663-0404 - contato@examemedicovisto.com

Good luck, let me know if you have any other questions :)

  8. Thank you everyone for the replies, to my surprise i received an email from the embassy today saying the appointment for my fiance has been made for April 16th, I'm soo excited but soo nervous I truly hope everything is put together by then, its really crunch time now. I never knew it would happen soo fast, i always thought a couple months or some time around that.

Can the medical be done in time????That's one of my biggest concerns and the Brazilian police records

Follow the information on this link, this is the official US Embassy website for Fiance(e) visa in Brazil, click on "Medical Examination" and see who is the certified doctor in his state and call them, they will tell him what he needs and how long it takes to have an appointment scheduled and also ask them what are the vaccination requirements, your fiance will probably need some shots.

Police Records, he will need two, one from the Policia Federal, he can get it online on this link.

And another one from the Policia Civil / Secrataria de Seguranca Publica from his state, in some states he also can get it online, others he must go in person, check here.

I'm just curious and really have no intentions on doing this, but i like to cover all my bases, if for any reason I needed to change appointment date is all I do is email the embassy and they send me the new appointment date or is it more complex than that?

  9. Hello!

My fiancé is currently trying to obtain his Federal and State Police Certificate. He is in São Paulo, Brazil.

The website for the Federal Police certificate leads to 3 links: Emission, Validation, and Legalization.

    http://www.dpf.gov.br/servicos/antecedentes-criminais

He has completed the two, emission and validation, and printed out the documents. Is this enough? Do they require notorization (reconhecer firma)? We don't know if we need to follow the 3rd link. When he moves here to the US, will he need to complete this last link "legalization"? It says the 3rd link is for "If this certificate is intended for the regularization of Brazilians abroad."

Any Brazilians and/or their USC partners who have already completed this step successfully, I appreciate your input! :)

We haven't completed the State police certificate for São Paulo, yet. Hopefully it will be straight-forward and I won't have to bother anyone with more questions. :)

    THANK YOU!

"Emissao" and then printing is the only thing he needs to do, no need to validate or notarize, I did it about a year ago and everything went ok. I lived in Sao Paulo and I got my Atestado de Antecedentes in the Secretaria de Seguranca Publica website, this is the link http://www.ssp.sp.gov.br/servicos/atestado.aspx (click on "Solicitar Atestado")

  10. Hey everyone,

I wanting to start my petition for my fiance who lives in Curitiba. We met as missionaries for our church and I have already been back to see her just these last couple of weeks. We have plenty of photos and e-mails so now it is just processing the paperwork.

As I have been trying to file the paperwork I´ve been stuck on which Consulate I am suppose to put. Am I suppose to put the consulate in São Paulo since that is the closet one to her or the embassy in Rio since that is where the interview will be?

Also when sending in our letters and e-mails which are all in portugues, do they all need to be translated as well or just her documents?

If there is anyone who can help me I would really appreciate it!

    Thank you!!!!!!

remember that at this stage of the process primary evidence of meeting in person are the most important: visa/passport stamps, airline ticket boarding passes, itinerary, hotel receipts, ATM withdrawals in her city, restaurant receipts that match credit card transactions. Photos and emails are secondary evidence, but if you send them you will have to send a translation. There is no need to send notarized translations, but the person doing it for you must write a statement saying he/she is "competent to translate and that the translation is accurate" clique here to see how it can be.

  11. Hi all. I'm interested in anyone with experience with the rio consulate in Brazil. We had our NOA2 since 11/29/12 and the NVC confirmed shipping our packet to rio on 12/12. When my fiance emailed them several times they denied having the packet over 2 weeks from being sent. Then I send them to message a week ago and now over 3 weeks later and they say they have it, it's just not scheduled. Is this normal? Usually it seems its 10 to 14 days but this is getting ridiculous

have you tried to call the DOS yet? The phone number is 202-663-1225.

  12. Ok awesome thank you! My fiance will also do his interview at Rio de Janeiro I see thats where you guys did yours. Are they pretty laid back there or are they one of the harder ones do you know?

You're welcome. The interview in Rio is pretty easy, all he has to worry about is to take all the papers the consulate asks for and to show them you guys have a bonafide relationship. Actually, I took a big folder with lots of relationship evidence, they didn't even look at them, but it is good to be prepared.

I described my experience and list of documents in my blog (in Portuguese), here is the link in case you guys want to take a look.

  13. It is??? Ok great I was hoping that! haha yes now more waiting since I was already waiting 2 weeks to receive that notice! Thanks!

What comes next now and how long should it take??

if the package you sent satisfies their requirements and you don't get any RFE (request for evidence), what comes next is the approval of your petition (NOA2). Click on "Immigration Timelines" above on the dark blue bar, then click on K1 Visa Timelines [ Stats ] [ Trends ], choose the Service Center they sent your petition and you will have an idea of how long they are taking to process it. Looks like CSC (California Service Center) is pretty fast right now: about 4 months.

  14. If she hasn't completed the AOS yet, then she doesn't have the evidence Canada would require. She needs a Green card or equivalent. The equivalent is the temporary green card they give you when you enter on an immigrant visa. She'll just be getting a green card, though, if she is adjusting status. If she doesn't have it yet, she probably won't be admitted without a visa.

that makes sense, thank you for your time

  15. I apologize if this topic is in the wrong forum, I was not sure where to post it. My question is:

My friend is a Brazilian Citizen, she came to the US on a K1 Visa and married her fiance, an American Citizen, within 90 days. She is now waiting for her AOS process to be approved and just received her EAD/AP combo card, she has a sister in Canada and would like to go visit for a few days.

I was looking at the Canada Visa Website and it says "You do not need a visa to visit or transit in Canada if you are a United States citizen or a person lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence who is in possession of their alien registration card (Green card) or can provide other evidence of permanent residence."

I was wondering what kind of "other evidence" they are talking about, please someone who has already experienced this could please shed a light on this and tell me if she can use her Advance Perole? Or is she still required a visitor visa?

    Thanks in advance!

  16. I called USCIS on last monday nov/19/12 and they told me that my case was done with them but they put on the shelf for the interview on oct/30/12, so they said now is just wait for the San Bernardino-CA USCIS office make the an appointment for the interview... So I was wondering, it has been on the shelf since oct/30 does anyone have an idea how long could it take for them to send me a date?
