as someone else here said you can have good or bad people in any country. My short answer to your question is why not a filipina? LOL. your right tho it is not so important where she is from and more important who she is. I agree that many get in trouble thinking just because she is from different life it means no problems. She has to be the right one no matter where she is from. To me the more traditional filipina is not only beautiful but her culture has taught her to put family first. I am not saying you cant find a good girl anywhere else. there are bad filipinas too. But when your talking about the person you want to spend your life with is traveling around the world any crazier than saying the girl around the corner was the right one? makes more sense to me that someone so special might be far away. If you did find the right one just a kilometer away then your lucky. For some of us it was never going to be the girl down the street, the girl you see at the store every week or at work everyday. Good that you realize what you have really found.... goodluck!

I have a business too and I cannot pay my fiance to work for me I can only make her an officer ( unpaid) until she has work permit. Besides, without ss# how do you do payroll? I dont know about texas but immigration is federal level not state. an immigrant can really cause themselves problems working (paid) before they have permit. If you dont pay them its not work in other words. Your family is just helping in your bar but I would research that. the weird part for me is I have to use e-verify. so someday if I "employ" her i will have to verify that my wife is legal even after all the fiance processes we have been thru.

If you only mean travel you will also need plastic 1 quart ziplock bag for all liquids ( 3 oz max) check airport rules for international flights. If you mean what to take to US it is like teapot said work history school transcripts medical history etc.

Yep it's not just the ticket cost by the time you get to this point of the journey you have spent a small fortune. Lol I'd expect same team effort from american wife or any wife period. maybe not for 100$ But for half cost I would take that layover myself

First Congrats !!! on the visa. Second thanks for writing your story it was nice to read and it saves me from writing most of mine. I really know how you feel. For us we had to do annulment first. The lawyer was not a crook just not so competent and in the provinces things can move s l o w. Many times the judge would not show up for court etc. My girl and her parents were always already there and I already spent money for the trip only be told it is canceled. two month delay each time. Once it was not even an emergency he just scheduled one of our dates for the same day he had a seminar in Mnl. One occasion our court date that we waited 2 months for was declared a holiday 1 week before our appearance. No matter how good a case the judge will also expect a " gift" at the end. My thinking was if I dont strangle the man that is his gift. All the time, money and effort and some people thinking it's a scam I hear ya. Like you I could never walk away and of course you could never forget her. I flew there as much as I could, spent more money than I even want to think about but if you really are committed to someone it is for better or worse. Besides, I made a promise and there's a great little kid involved who ought to know what a real father is someday. We read about annulment first and seemed most take a year so thats what we expected going in. We met in May 2008 and our interview is finally set for end of this Nov. I haven't been there since Jan 2011. If all goes well I will be coming to get her and my step-son in Jan 2012. Good luck in the future. Myself I just look forward to having a normal life again. Jim.

As long as your cenomar in Phil is clear thats what they go by. there have been girls there who thought they needed anullment from previous marriage only to find out it was never recorded. So from a legal standpoint they couldn't anull a marriage that never happened. But still better to fulfill the k1 first why take chances.

Actually thought you were being sarcastic when I read the subject line. So lets split this problem in two. the "Process" should be much simpler. Way too many forms and jumping thru hoops. Also depending on what country your coming from theres too many special trips for this document or that and lots of fun and confusion when an office expects one type of document but the instructions clearly expect another or an employee gives you incorrect instructions. The rocket that launched from NASA today will be in moon orbit in 3- 4 months but it takes me 8 or more to get my fiance here. Meanwhile this country has gotten so lax about illegal immigrants it makes me wonder why bother. I do agree people should spend more time together before filing a k1. As for income requirements if you can afford the current cost of visiting your fiance , all the special trips on your document adventure and paying for all the fees before and after she arrives as well as the plane ticket to get her here you probably can support her. Jim.

It's been really helpful reading everyones posts. Seems many realize that the things around you are just things and without your special someone they dont matter so much. Staying busy really helps. Luckily I have a demanding job. Someone here mentioned the little things they dont do because no fun doing them alone. I really understand that! Theres been some great quotes here too. Whatever motivates you just stay strong. I try not to have much free time and when I do I have my guitar. Theres a song by an old band called Triumph...Fight the good fight. Thats what we are all doing. It's hard not to be jealous sometimes of others who have alreday made it thru this and are going on with life but that day will come for all of us. I know some have had it easier and some harder. As for me we spent 3 years getting an anullment before we could even start a k1 because her country has such crazy laws and greedy judges. I flew to see her as much as I could but yeah it gets expensive. This year is really hard because we are spending the money on the k1, visa and hopefully tickets to the US so it's now been 8 months since we've seen each other and thats the longest we have done that. But I couldn't do both so we are doing what is most importantthis year. Sure I could have remodeled my house by now or really stuck alot away for retirement but I am smart enough to know none of that would matter without her so here I am Jim.
