  1. Whether or not you take your husband's name is your choice, it has no bearing one way or the other on the immigration process.

In my experence and it may vary also in which country you were filling . We got married backhome and ifilled all the papers under my maiden name. Even my passport is on my maiden name.

So i got a permanent resident ID under my maiden name. It worked fine with me . Goodluck!

  2. Just to be clear, a fraud investigation is primarily focused on the intentions of the foreigner, not the intentions of the US Citizen petitioner. Some fraud is mutual but most is not. Clearly one of their concerns is that he applied for a student visa while in a relationship with a US Citizen. Many pertinent facts are missing from the initial post, which may or may not shed light on the problem.

They are the same age, but how old? (This pertains to whether they are of "student" age.)

They have at least been acquainted since before the student visa was applied for. For how long and how serious was the relationship? The OP says the engagement wasn't "official" but just what WAS the relationship status when the student visa was applied for? Evasive answers raise suspicion.

How did the couple meet and how did their relationship develop?

Does the foreigner have family in the USA already?

If everything is on the up and up, the visa will probably eventually be approved, but it sounds like they are investigating to rule out first, whether the student visa application was an attempt to circumvent immigration law. If it was, that's a problem. We don't have the facts but the OP does.

Yes, that is true you are correct. In my case i tried to go in with TOURIST VISA (denied) before the CR1 VISA it was brought up on my interview luckily i was able to explain it well and was able to show that my intentions were really for a Job related seminar for that specific time.

  3. That's what we originally planned as well, however it looks like you would have to wait 2 yrs until removal of condition or change right away but pay $500..

So right now, I'm trying to have my passport renewed with my married name so visa will also be under my married name, then green card as well.. NSO unfortunately is giving us a hard time.. Hoping everything goes well..

If you fall under CR1 then Yes all will have 2 yrs conditional status till the petitioner removed it.

  4. that's my concern too actually, since my hubby has 2 copies.. i have all the personal copies with me.. thanks for ur answers guys.. i really appreciate it :D

Personal copy is fine as long as it is still valid. And bring along all your documents. everything You submitted to them so in case they asked you to provide something you'll be able to present it during your interview. It's better to have all in your hand than missing something. Goodluck to you!!! oh and yes you need to have the Cd with you .

  5. I left Houston on 10/22 night and reached Chennai today early hours. I am so glad to be with my wife after 4 months. It is already Monday night here and tomorrow is Navya's interview. We are very excited and a bit nervous and I hope the Consulate allows me in. Thanks to all at VJ that helped us in our journey thus far. The Lord willing, we will share the good news tomorrow. Please pray for her visa.

    Sunny (Navyk)

Goodluck NAVYK! Here in my country they allow that.

  6. We stuck with maiden name and will change at interview.

This is with my case here in my country. What I know your passport and VISA application should have same name .I got thru it we'll jst change when i get to US . Goodluck :D

Congrats! :) I also filed using my maiden name and had no problems. Have no intention of changing my name.

Thank you! I'm still thinking of changing or using hypenated name. hahaha.

  8. Just successfully completed the process for my Thai wife you're about to begin for yours. You don't receive packets in the mail per se just the notifications, the packets are on the Bangkok Embassy internet site and that's where they tell you to get them. Download what's there now and make sure you put together "everything" they ask for and make copies of "everything" you send or submit and have your wife bring "everything" with her to the interview having them organized so she can easily find anything they want - and yes I mean "everything." The three things that they seemed most concerned with is that you can prove your relationship is real (cerificates, pics, letters, emails, joint accounts, etc.), that your domicile is in the U.S. and you can document/prove it as well as having the income/assets called for in the I-864P Poverty Guidelines. You and your wife should rehearse all the questions listed on this site's list of interview questions for IR/CR visa as they could ask her anything, but if you document your relationship really well the questions should be a lot easier than if you don't. If you have any specific questions I'll try to answer them.

HI im jst interested what is the difference of dcf vs filling it to uscis>nvc? And who can file for Dcf any specific situation that applies?

    thank you

  10. The medical is as easy as 1-2-3. you dont need to memorize which window to go to. its all about floors. you start off at the ground floor then they will tell you where to go next which is 2nd floor then 3rd etc. they will let you know where to go. its very easy... just make sure youre early.

as ive said i was there at 330am... done 9am. if you have nothing to do the whole day then you can go on a later time but i hate waiting esp since im pregnant. if you hate waiting then be there early.

    medical fee is P9,174!

  12. hello everyone!

I started reading different posts from this forum ever since my husband filed CR-1 and CR-2 petition for me and my son and it has been really helpful to understand the processing of US visas.

Yet, I cannot find a post who has the same case as mine. Can someone please help me by answering my inquiries? i hope you guys will find time to read this. thanks :)

My husband (who is a US citizen at birth) filed a petition for me and my son last January 10. Since he has ACR, the embassy said its okay for him to file it here in Manila. We kept waiting and waiting for the letter until last July, my husband finally decided to ask the embassy regarding the petition. they said that the petition was approved January 25! (can you imagine how long we waited and all the while it was approved) They can't find our address in Batangas that's why they weren't able to send the approval letter. Anyway, last August 18, we have finally received the approval letter. I sent the DS 230 and I already scheduled an appointment on September 27.

    Medical:

My son (5 yo) had primary complex last March 18, and we had him take kids kit up to August (which supposedly until September 18)since i miscounted the months for him to take the medicine. during our Medical at SLEC, the doctor found that out because of course she counted the months and told me that my son should still be taking kids kit. so the doctor advised for our son to have chest xray. the result was clear but since he skipped a month of antibiotics, my son have to go everyday for a month (until oct 10 =which is also our wedding anniv!) at SLEC to drink his medicines. the doctor also said that he needs to go through sputum exam which he did last Sept 13, 14, 15.. the next day, the nurses told us to go to pulmonary evaluation and the doctor there said that his sputum smear is positive, but they don't know what it is yet, so they have to wait for the culture. the doctor also advised him to extend the medication until november 10. I asked them regarding my medical because since mine's already released, it might expire. so they said that i should go to the interview on September 27 without my son.

I am just wondering about these:

    1. when the smear is positive does that mean that we have to undergo the 6-months medication? or are there some instance that the smear is positive yet it is a bacteria other than TB?

    2. my son is just 5 years old, i mean does he have to go to his interview by himself after?

    3. is it true that once you have cr1 visa its validity is only 6 months? what if my son has to undergo 6-months medication? cani file for extension of stay here in the Philippines if ever i get approved?

    4. im a bit nervous about the interview process.. can somebody please tell me how the interview room looks like? or is it just a plain glass window just like at the bank? lol.

Please please hope you can help me

    thanks!!

Sorry to hear that ... what i understood is that SLEc will cancel existing interview schedule and if you get positive on smear ull have treatment for 6 months and im not sure if u still need to wait for a cultre test that takes 2 months before the 6 months treatment so ull be delayed most likely 8 months. On that same day that you get positive on xray they inform and cancel existing interviews and move it to a later date.

  13. thank u for sharing,we will have medical next week with my two kids and worried how long they will be waiting there. Is there alot of seats so my kids wont be standing while waiting? And its ok to bring food? and is immunization included in the 9,174?Thank you in advance, goodluck to ur next step...God bless!

Good wuestion they actually asked me to throw my bottle pof gatorade upon going it nut i guess jst dnt let the kids eat wgule the guard is there or upon ebtering there are lots of seats but i still did stand in some point, the area is also cool if its 2 kids then u could actually bring somebody to care for them since u are also going for a check up. And Yes the vaccines are already included in it  so u mught want to go for a medical earlier before ur interview so if ever and i wish not that you have some problems with your medical ull be able to fix itt ahead of time..

:bonk:OH AND MY BAD you also need to BRING YOUR ORIGINAL PASSPORT

and the 9174 is for each application

Good Luck!!!! if u still have their bby book for immunization that will help lessen shots
