  1. use the USPS flat envelope. ask the post master how soon can the package be mailed to Ghana. he will give you an option for like 2 days or so and then another option for like 5 to 7 business days. take the 5 to 7 business days option(its about 40$)its pretty fast. my fiancee only sends me letters and packages this way and it always gets to me within 5 business days. its really fast.

you will be given a tracking number. track the package and then after about 4 business days, have your fiance in Ghana call Ghana postal service to check if it has arrived or not. usually they call the receiver to come in and pick it up but its always good to be proactive in Ghana. i think the post office phone number is - from Ghana - 030 266 8619, and if you want to call from the US +233 30 266 8619. let me know if you need more help. i have also mailed stuff from the US to Ghana this way sooo many time, and it always gets to receiver withing 5 to 7 business days.

I have done this. i sent an envelope off on 1/27/12 and he has not received it yet. i hate calling my post office to do an inquiry so he will get it. This is irritating. I sent it EMS!!! there has been no update since the 28th of January.

  2. From my experience, it does not matter if you find out who she is. A man will lie unless you show him facts. If you trusted him you wouldnt have to go through his things. He has something to hide, it does not matter why he is hiding, he should not be doing it. My fiance was talking to other women just as friends, after I repeatedly let him know it bothers me and I do not treat him that way, he didnt listen. So we broke up and I announced it to the world (for his friends to know). He became embarrassed. Once they found out he started taking me seriously. I shot him where he would hurt most to get his attention. Has he done it since, NO!

Contacting her will not matter, she can lie to you as well. Women will cheat with married men, some don't care. If she was a good person she would not want him spending his time with her, at least without you. Don't stress yourself. Just figure a way to deliver the message that he is hurting you, and if that doesnt work then he needs to be free like he is acting!

  3. Your email to the embassy should suffice. There is no special form for changing your address with the embassy. If they need anything additional I am sure they will tell you. Again, just have him bring a copy of your US Postal change of address notification to the interview and you can attach a copy to your email to the embassy as well.

    thanks

  4. Since your case is at the embassy, just email them with the change. Give your fiance any supporting information just in case they ask him about it - such as your confirmed change of address form from the post office.

so thats the only thing that needs to be done even though the address in which he will be living out here is changing. i would think they want some paperwork to put on file so they can keep up with him. because if he was here and then i moved he would have to submit a change of address.

  5. my fiances appointment is in almost 4 months, but i think i might be moving in 30 days. do i have to submit a change of address form? i read somewhere that i do but im not sure since he already has his appointment. and if i do, do i submit it to the uscis or the us embassy in where he resides. i dont want this to mess anything up or it to become difficult for his appointment.

  6. Yes, first the letter will say that they mailed an appointment letter out to your fiancee on such & such a day, but whatever. Then the letter will say, if he hasn't received it, he can report to the embassy on any business Wednesday to pick-up packet 3 & 4. It will tell him that he must show the letter to the officer when he arrives at 7:30 in the morning. When he gets there in the morning the officer will take the letter, and tell him to have a seat outside with everybody else until 2:00pm. Them at 2:00pm someone will come outside to get everyone, and explain to them that someone in the states has petition for them and will give each person their packet, which should have there interview date inside. Everything will sound so great until they open up there packets and see the interview dates, then all hell will break loose. Best of luck to you guys because it's a long journey.

lol. I'm already contemplating a long interview date, but my fiance doesnt want to believe it. its been almost two years we have been together anyway so its already a long journey. thanks for the help. explanations come in different ways

  7. YES!! The embassy finally responded a few million times after I emailed them a few million times. They sent his appointment letter out on 6/28/11 and if he does'nt receive it he can pick up his packet at the embassy on 7/20/11. I'm too excited, but I still know his interview date will not be until maybe later this year or in Jan 2012.

  8. Hi, I know how you feel trust me. However, they will not let him into the embassy without an appointment letter, I know this for a fact because my fiance and I just went through the same thing. You have to email the embassy and give them the case number you got from the NVC, It should start with ACC followed by some numbers. When you send the email, inform them that you never received a appointment letter, and your fiance is waiting to pick-up package 3&4. The email address is NIVaccra@state.gov, and they will respond within 3 to 5 days. Finally, there will be at least a 6 month wait when he goes to pick-up packet 3 & 4. Best of luck to ya...

I thought that email address was for the nonimmigrant visa. And this is the immigrant visa situation. I have sent numerous emails. I will try again to both, however when i view theembassy info on this site, it states that they can go pick up package 3 and 4 at the same time but only on wednesdays, and it may take 8 hours to get it. but i will see if i can get the appointment letter first. So are you saying they will give him an appointment letter once I email them and let them know this?

  9. Is it really taking a year to get an interview date? I was planning to apply in January but if it is taking so long, I might have to apply a little earlier.so when i send the paperwork here, they then forward it to Ghana? What if it somehiow gets lost?Did you guys make copies of all your documents? At what point do I have to fill out the affidavit of support form? how soon after all the paperwork has been sent initially?

It depends on where you are applying from. I applied in California and it took about 5 months to get approved. About 2-3 weeks for them to send it to the Embassy abroad. I made copies of everything however still entrusted that what I sent was correct. I filed everything myself. Just make sure you search these forums for instructions because I learned a lot from what to do and not to do! so I never received an RFE. Good luck too. I'm thinking of making another trip back if he may not be out here until 2012.

  10. Unless it has changed, your fiance will get the packet 3 and 4 together with the interview date. Make sure that the medical and police certificate are as close to the interview as possible. Good luck.

The wait time for an interview in Ghana for a K-1 is about 12-13 months from initial filing. For the CR1 its over 18 months from filing to interview. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Take a look at the guides (http://www.visajourney.com/content/guides) . I'm not sure what visa you are applying for but the guides will give you a good idea for timelines and what is required at each step.

I hope it has not changed as far as receiving the packets. I'm seeing posts that people are recieving packets 3 first, then turning that in and receiving packet 4. However some are saying that the interview date will be included. when I called the Embassy out here they said he does not have an interview date yet even though his packet was sent to him a few weeks ago....Does anyone know how long it could take to at least receive packet 3. I feel like flying all the way out there to handle this myself. It's been almost two years since we have been together and about 7 months since I last seen him and I'm impatient, so I need to know what's going on!

  11. I know it is frustrating. You can't call the embassy, but you can email. You can ask them to email you the appointment letter as well as your fiance, that way you will get it and you can inform your fiance when to pick up the packet. That is what we did and it worked well. My fiance never received a letter from them at all--it never reached him, but I emailed him what they sent me, and then he had no trouble picking up the packet. Just make sure to include your case number in your email (also the embassy has two addresses, one for immigrant visas, one for nonimmigrant, but I believe that I send all my k-1 correspondence to the immigrant visa address, even though k-1 is technically nonimmigrant).

I know it is REALLY frustrating waiting a long time for an interview (although you never know, they may be better now) but just hang in there. At least you will have a date to prepare for! It just gives you more time to prepare your evidence, send him paperwork and copies, and for your fiance to get the medical and police certificate (although he should wait until closer to the interview to do those). And lots of people on VJ will be suffering through the same thing you are. Good luck!

    Jen and Babs

I cant really email them to ask them for the interview date since he has not turned in, or received packet 3. He has to get packet 3 to do his medicals and stuff.

  12. So the NVC sent my I-129F fiance visa paperwork to the US Embassy in Ghana on June 8th, 2011. I called embassy in Washington yesterday (7/5/11), and they informed me that package 3 was mailed out to my fiance two weeks ago and he should wait another week. If he does not get it in another week then he should contact the Embassy abroad to send him another. I'm like #######, the embassy abroad does not take phone calls! That's what they told me, and their emails are always automated, there is not human response. They also say he will not be let in the Embassy unless he has an appointment. So what the hell are we supposed to do now?!?! Because on top of that I also hear that it will take 6 months for him to get his interview!:crying: I have no clue where to go from here. I have sent him a copy of the paperwork and let him know he may have to go to the embassy and let them know he has an appointment so he can get in and pick up a package. Does anyone have any other ideas of what we can do at this moment because I'm at a loss. PLEASE HELP! how can he get his package 3 & 4, and will it really take 6 months to get an interview from the us embassy in Ghana???
