Hi Everyone! July Filer here!
I just sent my application to the Phoenix lockbox first class certified mail so it should be there by the end of the week! I also decided to send a personal check for the $680 as it would be nice to know when they cash it!
Hoping for a smooth and quick process, although I do have one bump in the road. Me and my husband got audited for our taxes and unfortunately we had some items that were not deductible that our accountant used on our taxes so now we owe Federal Taxes. However, we have a signed installment agreement with the IRS and are in good standing with out account and plan to pay off our debt in three years or less. So from what I have read online it seems as long as you have a plan to pay back your taxes, we should be ok. I haven't been in any trouble with the law or anything like that, this is our only hiccup.
So here's hoping that everything is processed quickly and smoothly! Looking forward to getting the NOA1

Came back from Canada yesterday and had both my NOA1 in the mail along with my biometrics. NOA1 date was July 29th and biometrics appointment set for August 23rd! Might try to go early and get the biometrics done but don't really want to risk driving into San Francisco, deal with traffic and parking and not get my biometrics done and have to go back...we will see!

I know there are lots of posts on being able to use your green card in your married name and your passport in your maiden name to enter back into the States without a problem, but no one has mentioned which name to write on the customs declaration card? When I flew back into Canada a week ago I put my maiden name on decleration card so it matched my passport and had no problems going back into Canada, however, when I go back to the States I am worried about matching it to my passport beacause green card has new married name on it. Does anyone know which name I should write on the decleration card so I do not cause any issues at customs?
Thanks

Got an email saying that it was undeliverable..ughhh I called and apparently they accidently sent my GC to my old address somehow it did not get updated even though I did the AR-11 change of address. So frustrating~! I was suppose to go home next week for a visit. So much for that~! Now gotta wait 2-4 weeks for them to resend my card to new address

Hey everyone,
I had my interview on Wed the 24th and I was freaking out a little bit because my computer crashed and I had to take it in on Monday to get fixed and they said that I would not be able to get it back until Thursday..eek! I needed to pictures from my computer. So i ended up just printing about 20 pictures that I had on my SD memory card and hoped for the best. Also went to copymat and got copies and printed off insurances and leases and things like that. Went into interview at 12 15, appointment was at 1230, got seen at about 100pm. Officer seemed a bit intimidating but we were sworn in, and she began by going over our forms and making sure all my information was correct. She asked my husband how we met and if we met each other's parents? She asked me where his parents lived and if he told me about his son early on in our relationship. I answered both questions at that was almost the jist of the relationship questions. She asked where we live and proof of living together which is when I gave her most of the paperwork we had with both of our names and our new address on it. She then asked me a few criminal questions and asked to see the pictures and took about 5 for our file. After that, she said everything looked clean and she was going to approve us on the spot and the card should come withing 2-3 weeks.
What a relief for all this process to be over. She also said before I travel, I should get a new passport with my new married name on it beacuse my green card will be in my new name. Now some more paperwork to gather and should be almost over.
Good luck to all filers!!!
Cheers!

Hey guys,
So I went into the Social Security office on Monday, August 8th and went in Wed the 10th and they gave me a printout of my SSN. I was stoked because I am starting a new job tomorrow and figured I wouldn't get the card in the mail for two weeks. However, to my surprise after moving all weekend my card came in the mail on Saturday the 13th!! So exciting! So now I start new job tomorrow and have interview next week!! Woo Hooo!

I have been researching online about how long it takes to get your SSN after applying for it? I am anxious because I went for an interview and got a job offer but can't actually start or be officially hired until I get my SSN. I got approval for EAD and think my card should be in the mail on Monday. I seen online they say it can take up to 30 days to receive the card :S? Does this also mean it takes that long to get the number? I seen somewhere that 48 hours after applying for a SSN you can obtain the number just not the physical card....does anyone have any experience with how long to takes to get your SSN after applying and how long to get the actual card? I seen a SSN timeline on here but it is outdated from like 2 or 3 years ago...so I was wondering if you guys can help me out with recent SSN experiences in the last 6 months or so with how long it took to obtain a SSN after applying in office..... I don't see much on people's timelines about when they got their SSN.. Any advice would be greatly appreciate Thanks

Received email on Friday the 29th saying my EAD application is in card/document production
Hopefully will be getting it in the mail in the next week!

Got an email notification today stating my interview has been set for August 24th! So exciting! Nothing on EAD but it will probably come within the same time frame!
Love*os and LinabFrank, dont stress about your biometrics! trust me they are coming
Mine came about one month after filing so I am sure you will be getting yours in the next week! I didnt get any email notification about my biometrics just had to wait for it to come in the mail, so I know how you feel.
I was expecting interview in September sometime, this is great news!! Guess you were right MrsAllen...make sure you keeps me up to tabs as to how your interview goes

Wow that was fast! Lucky you! I mailed AOS packet about a week before you, and I got my biometrics done the same day as you almost. I hope I get notice for an interview soon. I was expecting to get it in September or October, but maybe sooner. Who knows. Good luck to you!
mrs allen, did you come in on a F1 fiance visa as well? I looked at your timeline and didnt see it, so I was just wondering..

Went in to attempt an early walk-in biometrics appointment on Friday the 8th of July and behold...success!! Now just waiting for EAD. I hope that I receive it before we move so there are no problems. We are moving on August 12th and not sure when to have my change of address filed to our new place. Should I wait until we move in order to update address or what? If everything goes according to timeline it says that my EAD will be approved in the first two weeks of August. Also, the people that are buying my husband's house are friends so if anything ever does get sent to this address it will not be a problem for me to pick it up. Any thoughts on when and how to do an address change?

Got my biometrics appointment notice in the mail today set for July 22, but thinking of going in next week to get it done as a walk in. Excited!!
But confused as to why I am not getting emails/text messages about anything. I made a USCIS account for my case status and turned email and text message notification on and still nothing. Weird. Anyone else having this problem? Oh well, at least I got my biometrics letter. I hope I get my EAD in the next two months..I really need to start working!
-
Yes we did also send in the I-130 and I got a medical done here after we got married from civil surgeon. We have an awesome lawyer, so far I am happy with the progress. Let's just hope that everything comes quickly! At least the EAD so I can hopefully start working coming September. I am planning on trying to go in for an early biometrics once I receive the appointment letter. So for that I just go and do a walk-in hand them the appointment letter and they usually let you take the picture and fingerprints early, or how does that work? I will be going to the Oakland office in California for that. Thanks!

I filed for AOS on June 2nd, 2011. Well actually we had a lawyer that helped us file. Has anyone in here filed an AOS without originally filing for fiance visa? I am wondering if since we did not do the fiance visa thing and got married spuratically after about 2 months of me being in the US, will this delay the AOS process? Also everyone uses the word "touch" on these forums. What does it mean when it says 'touched' in the timeline? And I am assuming that NOA stands for notice of action? I received one for the I-765 and one for the I-485 both say notice type: receipt, does that mean that I have only received my NOA1 and not NOA2 because NOA2 is approval if I am not mistaken right? Sorry for all the questions...just trying to get familiar with the forum.
