I got married and didn't change my name on the passport yet. Passport is still valid, green card is under my new name.
Can i still travel overseas with my current passport using marriage certificate so that customs can match green card with t he passport?
Appreciate all the help.
Thanks,

I've gotten my wife on credit cards, bank accounts, utility bills, and soon a car loan and we're considering a refi on the house to. All of it should be good to help give her a credit rating and for the later ROC. I'm not really sure how long it will take though for those things to start showing that she has some sort of credit rating. My wife had her SSN for about 3 or 4 months before she had her EAD and started apply for work. Her first job I doubt ran any background check on her, but a couple weeks later she was offered a better job that did. They even finger printed her again!
Hello again,
Now i am really confused. I contacted the SSA and Immigration department, everything is correct and in the system. She applied with two different companies and getting same thing on both with SSN not in use. One company is using hireright.com for background checks, the other one USIS. I called the agency and sw a person at hireright and she said that they are going directly through SSA office to check the SSN. I mean, this is getting ridiculous now, i dont know who to contact anymore other than calling SSA every day now and keep bugging them till i get some answers.

I think Caryh is right. I called SS office again this morning and they are saying same thing. They are probably using some kind of credit bureau agency for the report instead of verifying it correctly through social security office.
She doesnt have any credit cards on her name but we have 2 bank accounts and she is on both accounts. i dunno if opening a credit card on her name will do anything.

I need your advised VJ. My wife got her green card, social security and driver license issued all under her married name. I went to social security office and made sure that her status has been updated to permanent resident.
She applied for a job and they ran some kind of report for her background check under the same social security number and it's coming back and invalid ssn, number not yet issued. I called SS Office numerous times and they are all saying that everything is ok with them. I am really confused now and not sure where to go from here. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you,

Green card approved, in production status...so happy it's over...thanks VJ

EAD and AP received on Feb 28th. It took 67 days for the approval. Now we wait for the green card.
Good luck everyone.

Ok. So this link answers questions 1, 2, 6 and 7. It's still unclear about the rest.
3. It says in question 11 if you applied for green card before, and i'm guessing you did not, so the answer to question 11 would be NO and then you skip below and proceed to question 12.
4. You just need few most recent paystubs, employment letter would be fine. You also need tax transcripts for the past 3 years.
5. I-864 needs to be filled out by both.
Good luck

Because of an attorney mistake now your case might get delayed another 2 months. Hopefully not. I can imagine how frustrated you all must be, you pay the guy that much to make sure everything is filled out correctly and still gets messed up. Just like you said, never get an attorney unless you really need one.
Good luck to you two and i hope they get it fixed without sending you the actual RFE.

Thanks guys, my biometrics appt is set for this monday.
VJ rocks

I had the same with my case. It got transferred to CSC before the biometrics.
This might sound stupid, but you still had to go to your biometrics appointment right?
-
No if it was an RFE it would say on January we sent you a request for evidence.
That says transferred. Either you were sent to CSC for " faster " processing or you are being sent to your local office for interview.
Gotcha, i should pay attention to details lol..thanks

Got the biometrics letter today with the appt date set for Jan 23rd. Moving along

I would report it definitely. We all know more than half of these marriages are scams anyways and they end up at courts filling for divorce. or just a free ticket to US.
Why go outside of US, i dont get it, much cheaper to find loved one here...
I guess this can be your experience since i doubt you will get anything back what you put in.
Good luck

How should I present our pictures in the packet? I've read that I want to put our name, date and location on the back of each picture. But do I put the pictures directly in the envelope or should i put them in a bag first or paper clipped? what's the best way? I have about 30 printed off but should I choose 5 or 6 or so to send?
What i did on ours is that i labeled date and location where the picture was taken and described the other people on it (like family members). Then i put them in Zip-bag (we had about 20 pics), and put them in envelope with the rest of the evidence.
The consul during the interview told me that was good thing we did, so i would recommend that to everyone.

Didnt see post for December yet so here we go.
I just sent my package and waiting for the confirmation.
Good luck everyone and hoping for a fast process

When my fiancee fills out the forms for adjustment of status, does she need to use her maiden name on all forms, like G-325A, I-765 and I-131 or just on the green card application which is I-485.
She needs green card on her new name.
Thanks for a response.

I wish i could find a 1 way 1/2 the price of the roundtrips. He is flying form turkey and every flight we have found out of there is at least $200 more for 1 way. I wish I could find that!!!!
I bought one way ticket 1/2 than what the round trip would cost me. I bought it through my agent, flying with US Airways.

Got the interview on 10/31 with NOA1 dated back to June 17th. Smooth process for us. I'm flying to her on Friday so we can attend interview together.
Good luck everyone, this waiting is big pain in the a**
