  1. Hi Instinct07! Thats good to know. I am in USA now, been through a few cities and states too and liking it very much. I'm still with you guys incase there's anything you need to know that will help make the process go smoother. Have a blessed day!

Hey west. Congrats on your arrival. How was your POE experience? Also, did you open a bank account yet? Any recommendations?

  2. "Descendants" sounds very scary to me. Perhaps "future friends and colleagues" might be a good replacement.

But what a cool idea! It might even involve traveling around and going to the beaches, and places I've never been before. (I was just saying to someone how incredibly beautiful Portland is.) I'm not yet in Jamaica, but that'll be a great final adventure to do just before my interview.

    You win the idea war.

  3. OMG I needed to share this with you all. My adjustment of status package is being sent today! So exciting! Hopefully everything will go ok (fingers crossed)

I really hope the bulletin starts picking up speed soon, so we can all enjoy that pizza together!

BIG SMILE! I'm so happy for you. You have officially crossed over to the other side. Please -- take us with you! #hooray

  4. It's not about keeping faith...we have to be realistic.

In the past we've always been able to reasonably predict the upcoming cut off date by the interview letters received. Unless javisakid gets a surprise letter in the next day or two, I can't see how it can be expected to move more than two weeks.

Obviously we all WANT it to move further, but I just can't see it happening this month.

I'm sure javisakid is checking his email inbox on an hourly basis (!) and will let us know if he gets any news.

For now we must continue with the ClockWatch2.gif

    Well said.

I spoke with the NVC this morning and asked "by any chance, is there any way that your computer secretly shows me being scheduled for an interview yet?" They told me no. This, more than anything, should indicate that the next movement for our category will be only two weeks. It's kind of logical.

I'll go back to finding ways to make one month go by quickly. Any suggestions anyone?

  5. Hi guys....I strongly believe that we are going to see a much more than two weeks movement this month. So lets keep the faith!

As delightful as that would be, the truth is that it will move just two weeks. If it had moved three weeks, I would have gotten a letter. But better than no movement, right? Small blessings, and etc.

Meanwhile, I've tried calling the NVC -- they're incredibly hard to get in touch with, it seems. All their lines are down. Could they be in their offices laughing at us all?

Anybody has Miguel's number? Hey hey, ho ho.

  6. Hey Guys, I got this email from NVC at around 12:02am today, very strange on the time, it stated the following.

The National Visa Center has received all documentation necessary to complete pre-processing

of your case. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner

and attorney (if applicable) will be notified.

We've been sending them our documents for the past couple months but never got this type email. Does this mean my cause was completed?

Did you last contact them asking them for a status on your case? It might be them giving you a very late response to let you know that they're are about to complete your case. You've done the choice of agent, paid for the visa and submitted the affidavit of support, right?
  7. No i didn't get t an email. But was told it will be. Till d end of this month b4 theyl get back to me

Hello chokey. Welcome to our little crew. We're curious to know what your priority date is, if you know it. That you were asked to do a DNA test suggests that your priority date is indeed close to becoming current -- if somehow isn't already.

Btw: your priority date is the date on which USCIS received your mother's initial petition in 2006.

  8. Thanks guys. I just wanted some indication of what takes place when the applicant takes in documents for a joint sponsor. I'm gathering the documents from my joint sponsor today. I hope to be fully prepared for the moment I'll have my interview.

Any last minute surprises this week you guys? I hope NVC had a happy holiday, and that we'll benefit from that, somehow.

  9. Thanks for the moral support to those of us still waiting.

Meanwhile, I have a question. Did any of you who've already had his/her interview use a joint sponsor? It turns out my mother's income fell for last year and so we're having a relative sponsor jointly. What was the procedure about this during the interview? Did you just simply give the officer the joint sponsor's affidavit and documents?

  10. They have wasted September and now october. ranting33va.gifranting33va.gifranting33va.gif

No one is getting IL's now, there's is no use to say this category F1. It works like an F5 if it exists ... this immigration system sucks man

Haha. Yup this is category F5. What's more frustrating is that there are so many folks who went to the US to live illegally and were able to "skip" the line, whereas we're still waiting as we're supposed to and still nothing. It's like we're being punished for following the law.

  11. I am so disappointed Javisakid. I really thought October's visa bulletin would move by more than two weeks. But from last month's experience I have learnt to go according to the interview letters received. So all signs point to only two weeks movement. How disappointing!!!!

Surprisingly, the anxiety I felt last month I'm not feeling it now (which is odd, because the time is much closer). I guess it's called being numb with pain. Well, there's a bright side to it all. We have more time to save for paying all the things we're gonna have to pay for: medical, updated police certificates, GC fees, plane fares and, of course, celebration party expenses.

  12. Wow, today is the 30th and there have been no interview letters for priority dates past October 1, am I to conclude that this bulletin will move by only 2 weeks?

Sad face. I will have missed the cutoff by 5 days? FIVE DAYS! I wish that they would bring back the V visa they had in the early 2000s which would have allowed those in our category to live and work in the US legally until we had our interview so that our lives wouldn't have to be on hold as it is. We're all separated from our loved ones and from our future because of some damn numbers game.

  13. Ugh, I'm just venting because I'm tired of the waiting already ranting33va.gif . I feel like my life is on hold while I'm going through this process. I don't want to commit to anything (or anyone!) because I don't know how long I'll be around. I know it's the same for most everyone, but knowing that doesn't make it any easier!

With one paragraph, you've nicely summarised how I feel about the last seven years of my life. A little comfort, at least, to know someone else knows and shares exactly how I've been feeling.

Also: "rubbish" is so typical Brit-speak, of course. I love it!

  14. "What should the applicant expect at the medical examination?

...The physical examination will at least include examination of the eyes, ears, nose and throat, extremities, heart, lungs, abdomen, lymph nodes, skin and external genitalia."

Taken from the Department of State's website, accessible here:

  15. I've never really paid much attention to the other categories so went to the Visa bulletin site to check this.

F2B is currently around 7 months behind F1.

I'm not sure if I'm just being thick, or am missing something...

F1 category has an allocation of 23,400 visas per year

F2B category has an allocation of 26,266 (23% of 114,200)

Why wouldn't petitions from USC receive the higher allocation of visa's?? huh2.gif

Can someone please tell me if I'm looking at this wrong as I'm starting to feel p'd off!!

My opinion is that the allocations are based on a period from long ago where the state of things didn't really require many visas for the adult children of US citizens (for whatever reason), and the allocations are from the Immigration Act of 1965 -- 1965!!!!!. They clearly don't know that things have changed from then.

It's very truly unfair, though, I feel.

I don't want to jump the gun, but I think by the end of this week, if no one with a PD later than 1OCT2006 receives a letter, it's would be safe to call the next bulletin as moving a whoppingly but familiarly disappointing two weeks.
