  1. I am very close enough to my Field Office so I made an infopass today and went to ask them where the heck is my biometrics letter (I know, I'm not very patient). It went well, they were on time and the lady was able to tell me that I just got put in the queue yesterday but that there are overbooked at my field office and as a result, while I'm in the queue, a letter hasn't yet been issued since there are no slots available headbonk.gif

Well, at least now, I know not to look at the mail box like a psycho everyday lol My husband was also kinda relieved because he admitted to obsessing over the the mail all day at work, hoping today was the day the biometrics letter would come and we could go out to celebrate the letter coming in lol rofl.gif Poor thing ! I'm just lucky I have such a supportive husband heart.gifheart.gif

I'm sharing this so all of the others who haven't received the infamous biometrics letter can know that perhaps you are also at a busy field office and the line is long.

Patience, patience, patience. As Jerry Seinfeld would say, Serenity now, Insanity later! Off-Topic2.gif

  2. my case is pretty clean cut i thought!i just dont understand!?

My new favorite saying is "THE USCIS WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS"

    LMBO...

seriously, it's all a big mystery. Sometimes, it has to do with the country of the beneficiary, the amount of petitions received, the local field office, who's on vacation, off sick etc. And in other times, we just dont know :hehe: I know it's annoying as heck (preach to the choir!) but all it is, is a waiting game. As I've heard someone else say on this board, "it's best to get a hobby" to avoid going crazy.

Mine's tanning right now  Sad, sad, sad!

  3. Still waiting...somewhat patiently for biometrics letter over here in Portland!

Hey Suley and Tami, I'm in the same boat...I havent received my biometrics letter and I'm quite annoyed :(:help:

Hopefully it comes in soon! Thanks for posting, made my husband and I feel better knowing there's another July Filer who hasnt gotten theirs yet, either.

Touched today! All cases are online and on initial review.

The funny thing is that the receipt date is July 18th.

    All checks cashed today too!

What happened between then and now? Who knows.

"The USCIS works in mysterious ways..."

  4. I'm in the July Filers thread in the AOS from work or other visas section and there was another couple who sent their AOS in early July and JUST got their NOA's late last night! They were getting pretty discouraged since everyone else in the thread was getting noa's, touches, biometrics etc. Their checks will havent been cashed, either.

They were getting discouraged too because a month to get NOA's is rather long. I hope you hear soon and dont give up, keep calling. I know I would, til someone found my packet...If you dont hear in another week, maybe consider having your first checks voided and sending in another packet altogether. I know it sucks and I'm really really sorry you have to go through that :bonk:

  5. it was $335 for everything (exam and shots) but keep in mind, that's for ALL the shots, which as Canadians, we've mostly received as children...I did get those shots as c hild but I've been living in the US for 3 years already and my mom back in Quebec couldnt find the records, so basically, I had to start over as if I never had the shots. I think from what I've read the medical is around $200 in Canada. But dont quote me on this lol I'm remembering from reading on this board and I might be wrong. Maybe someone else should chip in.

  6. Can't wait for my interview!... but a little nervous about the medical, not a big fan of Doctors

I dont know if the medical for the K1 is the same as the one for the AOS, I assume it must be?

It wasnt bad! Mainly, the doctor asked me a list of questions, and did a really quick physical exam followed by 6 shots (because my mom couldnt find my vaccination records, and even if she did, they'd be in French and I couldnt be bothered with the translation, you probably wont have as many or any, other who did the K1 from Canada can chip in). The only unpleasant thing was the tuberculosis skin test, stung a bit but it was over in seconds.

So all in all, it was fairly easy, so dont worry too much, next thing you know it'll be over :luv:

  7. ours is insane.. we were thinking it was for the medical, which is what it seems like is typical for a lot of people, and we were right. Nut they are also asking for 2 more pages of proof! They want wedding announcements, letters from us stating our 3 favorite characteristics of each other, letters from parents and siblings, more pay stubs, the list goes on. Some of the things they are asking for would have been impossible to get in the first lace, such as his driver's license and pay stubs! We had a freak out about it on Monday but will be getting to more hours of work this weekend. We also spoke with a lawyer who said we probably got stuck with an 'anti-immigration immigration' lawyer. It's all very frustrating because now I am sending in things I sent in with the original I129f application!

What on earth??!! I am so sorry to hear you guys have to go through that...

I could see that happening for people adjusting from another time of Visa within the US but for folks who got a K1? How odd.

Good luck! It will work out, just gotta send them all the requested items :star:

  8. same here for me...got an RFE Aug 1st, and the letter on Friday and it was for the I-864, they wanted a letter of employment ( I thought that was optional, oh well). We overnighted the response and today my case was updated online that the RFE was received and under review...

Don't freak out yet lol My heart sank too when I got the text that said I was getting an RFE, but then it happens to a lot of people. Dont stress, it'll work out just the same :star: Hope this reassures you somewhat, I know how stressful this whole thing can be on us all! :bonk:

  9. No way! The medical is more about having all your shots done, being free of tuberculosis and other diseases like that. They never weighed me at the medical and never inquired about diabetes or anything like that.

You're fine! Good luck in your journey :star:

  10. you know your file has been "touched" because the date changes in your online case portfolio.

For instance, one day I signed in to my account on the USCIS website and it said July 23rd for my AOS. Then a few weeks later, the date had changed to Aug 1st. So, on August 1st, my file was "touched", meaning, "looked at", "moved from one location to another" etc.

    Hope that makes sense

  11. I'm in the same boat. My package was received in Chicago on July 18th, i haven't heard anything yet. :(

If its any consolation, while I did get my hard copy NOA's, I got a text RFE on Monday and I live down South and it seems it takes a good 10 days for anything to get down here from the date it gets mailed...this RFE will probably stall us for a couple of weeks  . So your situation might not be so bad, maybe it's all coming along and you'll get your biometrics soon (which I havent gotten, either). I've heard of people never even receiving NOAs...

Good luck, we're all in this together! :star:

  12. hi Jim,

I got a RFE via text message, too, yesterday. I know how you feel! It is annoying when you thought you had all your ducks in a row. We will all find out what it's about when we receive the letter in the mail, sometime soon, hopefully.

It could be anything: lost medical, wrong ink color, signature not in the exact window, we forgot to check a page of a form, who knows.

I know it's enough to drive anyone crazy :bonk: but like Cipollina said, it happens often and it will be fine. Once you find out what it is, reply to it straightaway, send it by express courier and the process will resume. Many people received RFE's and made it through the process just fine in the end.

Lets be positive, we're in the same boat :)

  13. Both of our background are very simple.

I'm sorry you're going through this. While it is plain to see something is amiss, I would just give them what they want, as silly as it might sound to take a picture with a newspaper (geez, sounds like a ransom or something!!). Others have been suspected of fraud and were put through very detailed stokes interview, and guess what, they passed just fine, got their GC and rode off into the sunset happily ever after. If my husband and I had to take a stokes interview, it wouldn't be a problem because we know our answers would match to a tee.

So don't worry, when the relationship is real, you prevail! Like someone else mentioned, maybe someone reported something about you or your wife to USCIS. A disgruntled former bf or gf, jealous friend, envious family member, who knows.

Stay strong and keep a united front. Love conquers all (L)

    Good luck!

  14. Hello,

I have a three year H1B visa (now I am beginning my 2nd year), and I have a contract with a liberal arts college. I got married on May 2011, and we want to start the change of status to a Residency/Green Card.

I have to start working on late August, and I don{t know if once we filled everything I will be required to stop working, even if I have my H1B visa too.

I appreciate the help anyone can give us with this question.

    Thanks!

No need to stop working :) You will file the AOS and transition from H1 to EAD to GC. See the guides for AOS within the US. I just did mine and the guides spell out everything you need to know/do.

    Suerte :star:

  15. What about a joint cell phone bill? Mail addressed to you both or either one of you at the same address. Sworn affidavits from friends and family members are useful, too. Try your best but dont worry too much, others have been approved without having so much evidence. USCIS understands that newlyweds may not always have so much to show yet and if they want more, they will ask for specific items at the interview.

    Good luck!

  16. I have sent my AOS application to the main office of USCIS and today, they sent me back the package for the reason that the check payment amount was wrong and that I didn't provide payment for my Employment Authorization.

I sent a check I. The amount of 1,010US for the application with the package. I am confused as to how much it should really be and if am I supposed to provide a separate payment and separate package for my employment authorization. Because they sent me two different nOtices for the AOS and the employment authorization. I have read that I can submit them together. Can u pls enlighten me because the notice I received was not that helpful at all.

the fee for the AOS is now 1070

  17. Just got back from our interview and long story short, it was very pleasant, lasted about 20 minutes and all the interviewer was really interested in was our marriage. She approved the green card, I got the notification email and we will receive it in the mail within 30 days. HHHHHHHOOOOOOOOORRRRRRAAAAAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

Congratulations! I knew it would work out...

All the best to two very deserving people!
