  1. my interview was today it last for 5 minutes

the officer asks me about date of birth, address, date of marriage the yes and no question,

ask if we have picture , i gave him 5 he doesn't even looked at them

he didn't ask my husband any question then he told me that he is going to approve me and i should recieve gc in 3 weeks

and few hours later received msg and checked online to find that the card has been ordered for production

it was very fast and simple and i was worried for nothing [ i overstayed my visa for 2 year and after my 130 was approved i didnt apply to adjust my status i waited for my husband to get his citizenship and then i applied] by the way it is for 10 years because we have been married for more than 2 years

    good luck to every one

CONGRATULATIONS! Very happy to hear another fellow July filer is done! Enjoy your time off from USCIS! All the best to you two :star:

  2. I have been here 2 years now and homesickness used to come and go, but now it's hard to shake. I find going home as often as finances and work allows helps a lot. I hope your trip home has boosted your spirits.

The food cravings can be painful - I know how much I miss fish suppers! If you ever come out east, we have an excellent food truck here which serves poutine! It tastes as good as any I had in Quebec.

Courage, la2011 ... je sais bien comment vous vous sentez (L)

    Ah merci pour votre reponse!

I think a trip back home for 2 weeks helps! I did that recently and feel so much better!

Moderator: Would you kindly removed the SSN comments and other deragotory words used in my thread? Such as a word starting with P...Thank you in advance.

  3. Yes, people from other countries do not know what it's like to be Canadian, we do get treated a tad differently, like it or not. When we did our AOS interview, she didnt even want to look at the original birth certificates, or much else, didnt want to keep anything we brought, and was way more interested in chatting about other things lol In fact, she hardly looked at anything, to the extend that it made me think, whats wrong here lol Dont they want proof?

It took 5 days to get my GC approval after that, but then I found out all their computers were down that day and then there was a government holiday. She never typed anything into her computer...

  4. LA2011,

I lived in 6 European countries (including France) and briefly for 6 months in India before coming to the U.S., yet I have never been to Canada in my life. My wife wants us to ride the Mountaineer some day and I can imagine that the scenery must be beautiful. But what is it you are missing particularly while being in the U.S.? It can't be the cold, so I'm quite curious . . .

I miss my family, my childhood friends, speaking French and the food....

Glad to hear you are making it home for a visit :)

Fill up on poutine and french culture while you are there!

Oh yeah, poutine is most defintely on the menu! lol Poutine is the best comfort food...

Ya dont know what you've got til it's gone, right?!

  5. well, it always depends WHO the Congressman is...lol.

In my case, I wanted my EAD expedited bc of a firm job offer. My USC husband called his Congressman and my EAD was approved OVERNIGHT. Then, lo and behold, we got our AOS interview a month later. It was a very speedy 2-month process for us and I do believe it is because of our Congressman's help.

Some Congressmen care, others dont. Thats why some get re-lected and others dont lol I know ours does care, he even sent ME a letter thanking me for appealing to his office. His paryt and he can sure count on MY vote when I become a USC one day.

Anyway, nothing risked, nothing gained. No harm in giving it a shot. I posted the steps in a link in the July Thread Filers AOS from Work or Tourist visas if interested.

  6. I have already found a network of venezuela people for my little lady fot this exact reason.. U shoild visit.. caNada is just up the road.. Jpe many times have visited in the 3 years.. ?

yes, i feel much better now, I was able to take time off work and Im going home to Canada shortly for 2 weeks :)

I will make a better efforts when I get back to find other French Canadians in my region, or just French speaking people. It helps, being able to speak your native language once in a while.

Thank you for your reply and suggestion, I appreciate it! Glad that you were able to find friends from Venezuela! I went to Caracas and Maracaibos a few years back and LOVE IT!

  7. so this was my story haha..

ok so my lawyer about a month ago had said that she needed to cancel my interview because of unknown reasons, and well time went on and i kept getting worried because i never got a cancelation letter or anything proving it had been cancelled. so, the day before my scheduled interview i told my husband that maybe he should call immigration because i was not sure they had cancelled and i didn't want to be denied for not showing up. well, he called and it turned out that my lawyer lied and my interview was still scheduled. the next day (day of interview) we went to her office and told them we needed my folder with all my information, and they refused to give it to me because they said the lawyer was not there and because my interview was cancelled. i told them that it was not that my husband had called and it was still on, so they were very rude and i argued with them for about 10 minutes and i told them to at least give me my visa and the permit that i entered the us with. they ended up giving me only that.

i went to my interview, and of course i was on the list!! and they checked me in. the sad thing i was so nervous because i was so unprepared, i only had our insurance with both names, pictures, and the birth certificate of our daughter. the good thing is that we got an awesome immigration officer, and got approved!!

so good luck to everyone, and be very careful with immigration lawyers..

    Congratulations!!!

  8. That's awesome! Congratulations big time! Amazing stuff! Got my interview next Friday, sort of crapping myself. The only 'hard' evidence we have is proof of residence together in the form of lease. No bank/insurance docs coz of no SSN, tons of pics and greetings cards, maybe we'll get some Affidavits?? I'm confident in that we'll come across as a genuine couple because, well, we are, and we're very much happy and in love. But it's still scary as hell!

Great to hear a good story! Love it.

Oh dont be scared, it will go fine! There are PLENTY of people on this board who didnt have a lot of joint things because of the no SSN thing yet and they were approved just fine. Some IO's are nicer than others, just like people in general. Ours was very nice but approved 4 business days later, and other couples get very rude IO's and get approved as soon as they get home. Affidavits from friends are helpful in cases likes yours and all the pics will suffice. At ROC, you can show all your joint evidence.

Best of luck! and I'm glad my experience was of use to you!

  9. Hello my fellow July filers!

My husband and I had our AOS interview on Wednesday. It went well but no on the spot approval. In fact, we have not heard anything since... a tad stressful, but my husband and I had a good weekend tailgating and we're trying not to focus on it too much and just enjoy ourselves and continue being happy.

  11. My husband and I had our interview this Wednesday (I am Canadian and adjusting from a TN visa). We had a very nice lady IO who was on time. She ushered us in , swore us in and got right down to it. She asked us for our driver's licenses, then asked me for my current address and my husband's birthday. She then asked him for my birthday, which he was off my 2 days LMAO typical man! whistling.gif

Anyway, she then asked me for my passport and took my I-94 and stapled it to our file. She asked for evidence that we were building a life together. We produced joint bank accounts, joint health insurance and utility bills. We showed us some recent pictures and she said she had already seen the wedding pictures in our files and had reviewed it prior to our arrival. She started explaining about the 2 year conditional card and said to collect evidence of our ongoing life for the next 2 years, especially trips we take together and things like that.

She then said, "well, we are done here, I will do a final review and see if I can move forward with you case." I was of course disappointed when I heard that...I was hoping for a verbal approval...

The conversation then turned to something very friendly like we were with someone we'd known for a while. We discussed football, babies and raising kids and other things. We spent more time socializing than having an interview. Altogether we were in there for half an hour, but only about 15 minutes was actual interview time.

I'm a little sad because it seems that all I read on this board is people who come home from the interview and get an immediate "card production ordered" email. Our interview was Wednesday and tonight is Sunday, NO NEW AT ALL SINCE. My husband is annoyed because he is impatient to move on with our life as am I, and be immigration-free for the next 2 years. We are the same age, same background, are both English speakers language and are just your everyday in love married couple.

Anyway, I suppose patience is the name of the game tongue_ss.gif

Thank you for reading and please share your comments if you wish. Good luck to everyone going through this very stressful process!

  12. I'm feeling like this too and I've only been in Texas a few weeks. I like it but I'm sure I'll feel better after I meet people, work, etc. You are not alone. :)

Thank you so much for your kind words! Its good to know I'm not alone. I always knew there were others who were homesick, but lately it's been harder for some reason. Thanks for the support xoxo
