That is great news!
We've had no action since a "touch" in January. Looking forward for this phase to be complete. We are TSC transferred to CSC.

Is there a list anywhere of countries that recognize dual citizenship? That would be interesting to look at.

Hello Yardies -
Gil - I may have some experience with this same situation.
Henry brought the wrong birth certificate to his K1 interview - it was a copy and not the original with the gold seal. They denied him. I was furious - completely furious. I must have spent $100 on phone cards - I kept calling the embassy until finally I got through to someone and explained the situation to them. I was like "he lives about 4 hours away and he's on his way home to get it right now, he can be back in the morning". It was funny though - she knew exactly who he was. So, long story short, she gave me a ladies name for him to ask for at the gate. He went back the next morning and asked the guard for the woman and she came out and it was all taken care of.
It was such a stressful day - I broke down in tears from all of the emotions I was going through.

enat - I hope we have some action soon - we have a similar timeline and story.

Update:
So we made an infopass apointment in Charlotte for next Friday and arranged it with work, etc.
Yesterday afternoon - my husband called me and said "guess what, I found it". "Where was it?" I asked. "In my undershirt drawer."
I guess when I told him to put it in an extra safe place, it worked. We both couldn't remember where it was.
I cancelled our appointment and now we wait again and save ourselves 5 hours round trip for a stamp. Phew!
-
Just an update. Got through to the (800) # this morning. She said they could file a service request for a duplicate but it could take up to 120 days. For speedier service, Infopass, request stamp. Looks like another drive to Charlotte.

Does anyone know the hours for calling the 800 number to speak to someone live?
-
we have no plans to leave the country. but it is the only proof of being eligible to work. i would love to make an appointment but the closest office is 2.5 hours away. I just don't feel comfortable not having it at all. I am going to call tomorrow and see if they can tell me something...

We were looking randomly for the NOA1, not thinking anything about it but then all of a sudden we couldn't find it. We are tearing up the house right now but my question is, what do we do if we can't find it???
Please help, I am freaking out right now.

Ha, thank you! Well, I was just checking because we've been touched twice this week since biometrics on Saturday!
-
I wanted to clarify this so that I understand exactly how it works.
When you log into your online portfolios on uscis.gov there are dates where it states "last updated". If this date changes, does this mean you've been touched? Even if you don't recieve an email?
Thanks!

Hello everyone, my fiancee lives in Kingston and I live in Charlotte, North Carolina and we both would prefer to have our wedding in JA because she has tons of friends and family there whereas it would be really low key here in Charlotte. The problem is that I don't want to wait six or seven months after we get married for her to be able to immigrate to the U.S. (until the k3 could be approved). She actually has a tourist visa for the United States that doesn't expire for several years now, so I suppose that we could go ahead and get married and then she just come up here and stay with me until its time to go back home for the k3; the problem is that she would literally be sitting around doing not much of anything while waiting on the approval process, not to mention they could turn her back at the border when they find out that she has an American husband. So, I thought yesterday that maybe we could go ahead and do the k1 visa process, get it approved, and then marry in Kingston a few days after the stamp was in her passport, then come to the U.S. We will not lie to the border agents, so I wonder what they'll say when they see her k1 and what they'll respond if she says that we got married after receiving the k1 visa but before hitting American soil? Are these border agents that sophisticated to say "no, you should have married in the U.S.?"
I think you are playing a little too close to fire. The K1 is intended for people to come and then get married - you would be breaking the law if you didn't do that. The border people may not know but when you are ready to file your documents and get married in the US you will run into problems.
I would say that you should have a celebration or something in Jamaica - but not a legal marriage, and follow the rules. Otherwise - do it the right way and get married in jamaica but realize that you will not be eligible for a k1. This immigration process is long and hard and the last thing you want is something to come out of the woodwork and screw it all up.

Thanks for the invite! I wish we could join, but it is not going to work this coming weekend for us. We were just in the area on Saturday for our biometrics and we have different plans for the weekend. i hope you all have a blast and we'd definitely be open to a Chapel Hill or Durham meet up!

Just wanted to update you all on our biometrics appointment yesterday.
We arrived at 11:30 because we made good time on the highway and we had a 1pm appointment. They told us to come at 12:30. We came back, filled out a one page bio sheet, waited in line. The room was crowded but they were moving people along very quickly. We were out of there by 1:35. So it was just over an hour!
I can't wait to see what happens next. I'll continue to keep you posted.
Thanks,
Doodle

We'll be in Charlotte on Saturday for ours, so I'll keep you posted on anything you should know.

Just an update to let you know we recieved our biometrics appointment for 1/12/2008. Hope this process continues to move along.
To all the yardies', Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all and your families!!

We were transferred to CSC and just yesterday recieved our Bio appointment for 1/12/2008. We are very pleased and just wanted to keep people up to date on our process. Let's hope the ball keeps rolling!
Happy New Year everyone!

I guess if that happens, its INFOPASS time. I mean, at that point you have to get some answers. On the same note, I have also heard that you should file the N400 when you become eligible regardless of your I751 status. something else to keep in mind.
Ours hasn't budged since the NOA1.
-
We filed recently as well and had the same thing happen to us. Keep me in the loop on when you recieve your Biometrics letter. It's been a few weeks for us and we haven't gotten it yet.
Congrats on getting somewhere.
-
Congrats Jasman. Hope things go smoothly for you.
-
What bank was it if you don't mind me asking?
-
Just an update to let people know that our NOA1 came in the mail today. It looks a little bit different than they have in the past, like the USCIS agent didn't have the typewriter lined up properly when they entered the information.
Anyhow, we have recieved it, phew.
Question:
I'm trying to add the reciept number to my online portfolio so that I can recieve updates and it won't let me, states that they don't recognize this number. Any way around this or do you have to just keep trying?
Thank you and as usual I'll keep you posted on new developments.
