  1. I'm at 6 months since my NOA1...getting more and more depressed. I leave in 2 days for a month to be with my fiance. Wish I had some good news to give her when I see her, but it doesn't look like that will be happening. Filed a service request, didn't help. Contacted my local congressman, didn't do anything. Meet with a local immigration officer using InfoPass, didn't do anything. Emailed VSC, no response. I've done all that I can. Nothing left for me to do. Just so sad...

    :(

  2. Wow, 228 days since NOA1 and your fiance visa is for Canada? That is absolutely ridiculous. I am sorry to hear about your waiting. It seems like when you think you have got it bad, you find someone else who has it worse than you. I hope yours gets processed before mine, seriously. You deserve it. Also, I had posted on another forum, I think it's entitiled 'No NOA2' about my recent experience with a local immigration officer, went terrible! Got me even more upset and depressed... Just can't wait til Saturday when I get to go see my fiance for a month.

Like they say: 'It's better when we're together.'

  3. My congressman is based in Plano, Texas. His name is Sam Johnson. I am not directly dealing with him, mainly with his main lady that works in the local Plano office. I hand wrote and faxed in a letter to them November 17. I always contact the office via phone. She is usually very polite and always calls them (VSC) to get updates for me. I called this morning at 8:45 AM and she told me to call back this afternoon. Just called, she was unavailable. Gonna call her back in a few hours before their office closes.

  4. I've been reading that contacting your local congressman to help process your case or move it along quicker is a sure thing, but how come in my situation it hasn't helped at all? I have been in contact with my local congressman since November 17 and it has almost been a full month, and still I am sitting in the same position. How can I push them harder? What can I do differently? Is my local congressman really doing their job?

Just really frustrated and down right now...

  5. June filer here. I have been in touch with my local congressman since mid November...they told me that my case is with an adjudicating officer, on their desk for them to process. This was last week, Wednesday. Had an appointment to meet with a local immigration officer this morning in Irving, Texas. Appointment was scheduled at 9:30 AM, arrived 5 mins before, checked in, they gave me a slip of paper with a number on it and said to wait til my number was called. 30 mins go by, 45 mins go by, 1 hour goes by, still, nothing! The people who came in with me at 9:30 AM had already met with an immigration officer and left! ####### finally I got up and asked someone when I could speak to an officer about my case and they said wait, someone will be with you. I told the it's been over an hour now...they said to get BACK IN LINE to see if my number was in the system. I was thinking to myself you gotta be f-ing kidding me. So I get back in line and then someone calls my number. Finally sat down with an immigration officer and right when she opened her mouth she was very rude and had an attitude. She told me the same thing I already knew, that my case was with an officer at VSC. That's it. Then she told me to email VSC, I told them I already have. She said email them again, I said I already have, no response to any of them. She said that is all she can tell me. I had to bite my tongue from saying some harsh words to her. Man o man was I pissed off. So hopefully tomorrow I can call up my congressman and they can do something cuz I'm leaving Saturday for a month to visit my fiance for the Holidays and would love LOVE to give her some type of news!

This process is just a nightmare. So terrible. Hate it.

  6. Congratulations! It sounds great that your Congressman got it expedited. At one point did you solicit their help? 5 1/2 month mark?

Anyways...I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Around 5 month mark I wrote the letter to the congressman. I was able to put in a service request on my own but it didn't do anything so I had to do something!! I am hearing other June filers at VSC are getting their NOA2s recently, feeling hopeful that mine is coming any day now!!

I gotta have some good news to give to my fiance before I go visit her for the Holidays :)

  7. Thanks AandD and Victor for the posts. I can understand Adriene H...about unreliable the USCIS is and on giving a timetable. Just been hoping and waiting. Victor, my advice would be to get Amy to contact her local congressman in the states and write to them. I have been in touch with mine since November and they put in an expedite service request on my behalf. Just spoke with the congressman's office today - they told me my case is with an officer at VSC and they are working on it right now. Told me to check back with them on Wednesday to get an update but hopefully I will get an email or something before that!

Victor - try n enjoy the holidays! Don't be so sad and gloomy, it is out of our hands, just try to do whatever you can, as in writing to a congressman or senator and staying positive! I know it's hard when other people who have their NOA1 date after you but already got their NOA2's...it happens, no rhyme or reason.

    Chin up friend!

  8. I'm a June filer, June 8th NOA1...still no word on the NOA2. Got a service request put in Nov 16, they got back to me 2 weeks later stating that it is still being processed (no new news there.) Have been in touch with my local congressman. They told me to wait til Dec 8th, I should hear something by then, if not, call the congressman's office and they will put in an expedite request... Let's hope that does something! Also, I scheduled an appointment through InfoPass to meet with a local immigration officer next week to see what they can do. Trying to do anything and everything before the holidays!! It's been 183 days since my NOA1...way too long! Can't take it anymore.

  9. I am a full time student and am filling out the affidavit of support Form I-134. On my form I have put down that I am a student and make no money. Towards the bottom where it asks if I intend to make any contributions to my fiance, at this point in time I cannot but upon graduating I do intend to. What should I put down?

Also, since I don't make any money I am getting my father to fill out his own I-134 so he can be a joint-sponsor with me for my fiance. On his form, I am listed as a full-time dependent and I am attaching 3 years of his 1040 tax returns which show I am a dependent. Since he is self-employed, I am getting him to write a letter from his company letterhead stating that he is self-employed in his business for X amount of years and that I am his son and he is the joint-sponsor with me for my fiance.

In filling out my dad's I-134 for the income, savings, stocks & bonds, life insurance, etc - do I need to fill all of that out since I am providing 3 years worth of his 1040 tax returns? Can I just write in "See attached 1040 tax returns" in the blank? Will that suffice?

    Any other tips/advice? Thanks!

  10. Yeah, I did just that. I called USCIS and they told me there is nothing more they can do on their end. I will have to wait an additional 30 days to file another service request. So I ended up scheduling a meeting with a local Immigration Officer for next week. Don't know what more they can do, hopefully something.

Also, I contacted my local congressman about 3 weeks ago, they finally got back to me last week. Told me they should have some update or information on Wednesday.

    Hoping something pans out!

All we got is hope, right?

  11. Service request came back, USCIS emailed me saying that my case is still pending. So no new news... Scheduled to meet with the local Immigration Officer next week. Also, contacted my local congressman, who said they will call me back this Wednesday with some update or whatever they can find. So hopefully something will happen. 1 more week and it will be 6 months since my NOA1... Just want to give my fiance some good news for the Holidays! Trying anything and everything I can!

  12. I filed a service request on November 16. Got my NOA1 back on June 8 so the normal waiting time of 5 months was over, hence filing the service request. Today, November 28, I get an email from USCIS saying:

"Our computer systems show that your petition or application is still pending U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services consideration. For future status inquiries of a petition or application filed at this Center, you may want to utilize Case Status Online at www.uscis.gov."

No new information, no update, nothing. They told me the same thing I can see for myself online about my case, that it is still pending. I have been staring at the same status since June 8, over 5 months. Now that the service request I put in didn't do anything, what can I do now? What is my next step? Is there anything more I can do?

    Thanks.

  13. It's been 156 days since my NOA1...and still nothing.

I called USCIS customer service back in early October, talked to an actual person. They said my normal 5 months of waiting was not up yet, please call back after 5 months. So I waited, called on Monday November 7, after waiting the 5 months. They guy on the phone told me the new story, that the 5 months no longer applies, they are currently processing March 15, 2011 applications. (same thing it says on the USCIS website, so it wasn't any new information.) So I tried to file a service request just see if he would do it and if it would go through. He tried and said it won't go through, you will have to wait an additional 85 days... I responded with saying that's another 3 months and I've already waited my standard 5 months, there is no way I'm going to wait 3 more months without some type of update or something. He started telling me that I can schedule an interview with an Immigration Officer in my area to discuss my case in more detail with them. While I was talking to him, he hung up the phone! I was so angry!! But, alas, there isn't much we can do in this situation. Just gotta keep playing the waiting game and hoping.
