  1. Thanks Happy Chic for your reply. We have sent off for IRS transcripts and I'll print a copy of our itinerary and receipt for our upcoming trip together. As for the cover letter I'd already planned on that.

As for the affidavits, I will also send some of those. In the end the interview is not the end of the world as we had to go to the same facility for fingerprinting and a pic when we applied.

  2. My wife and I married on may 12 2011 and she has been here since Feb 2012. Our situation is this....We have very little evidence of co-mingling of funds. We live in a condo which I paid cash for (No lease or Mortgage) Utilities were already in my name. I have an HELOC that I hold on my rental in another complex. since 2007 so in my name only. I had my own credit cards and have pristine credit, no joint cards but I taught her how to build credit and she has her own.

Neather of us has a car or car loan ether.

The only finacial evidence we have is that I am on her health ins. since this last Jan. and had no insurance before that. I am also on her benificiary form for her life insurance. She started work Aug. 2012. I have no life ins. on myself at all. We also can resend 2011, 2012 tax transcripts and now that we have filed 2013. These come from the IRS(We sent her I-751 in before tax filing time.)

We did not combine bank accounts because our financial habits are diametrically opposite and we have a system in place that works for us and makes our relationship strong. I provide housing, utilities, pay for the majority of our trips and do the long term financial investments. She buys our food and has me on her health insurance.

We can send the new copies of our tax transcripts for 2011,2012,2013 and also that info showing that I am on her insurance still. Even more evidence from credit card bills etc.. in her name, to show address is the same and also a copy of our upcoming trip tickets. We can probably ask and receive 10 affidavits some notorised some not.

The letter said if enough evidence is sent then they might not request an interview. We don't mind the interview as theres no fee and its not that far to travel 20 miles.

I have heard that they can not refuse her the removal of conditions actualy they would have to prove we were indeed not a real couple, but we don't want that hassle.

So any advice and any examples of what needs to be in the afidavits from family and friends would be great!

  3. Well the NBI problem is solved, but they are still waiting on the Hong Kong Police clearance. We called the Hong Kong Police and they said they sent Dec 31st. This is the 12th of January....What a terrible process this whole visa application is. The paperwork is easier than filing your taxes, but dealing with two governments really bites.

They could streamline all of this and make life a lot easier. Heck the 3.5 months before the USCIS even looks at your petition is just wroung.

  4. I get that you're a bit annoyed with the unexpected wait but look at the bright side... You guys got approved!

A lady from Embassy called my wife asking about Hong Kong Police clearance which we had ordered awhile back....We did not get a 221 G on that so maybe the lady was just inquiring. I hope and pray.

  5. Greetings V.J. Members,

My wife was told at the interview her Visa was approved but she needs an NBI with clearance for her first married name. She had never used that name on any documents at all but they still want NBI clearance in that name.

They gave her a form telling 2Go not to charge her to return the document to the Embassy. She then went to NBI and was told that it would be the 24th unless she paid an expedite fee of 1500 peso. She will go today (jan 10th) to pay the expedite and get the NBI clearance with that name included.

After reading about similar situations I'm very upset. If what I'm reading is true then its likely going to be a few weeks before the U.S. Embassy looks at the newly submitted NBI clearance. And thats after paying or an expedite from NBI...

The Philippines government has left a sour taste in my mouth. First the Registrar refused to advance endorce our marraige contract costing us a month in time, a trip from Cebu to Mindanao to get a transmittal, Then from Mindanao to Manila to expedite the contract in September (we were married may 12th) with expedite fee of coarse. And now this...

I'm supporting my wife there, myself here, paying for all the normal Visa fees, and all these extra bribes and costs. I'm only a security guard making 8.00 an hour...#######

  6. Greetings,

As I'm writing this my wife is in line outside the Embassy in Manila waiting for her interview. I am wondering how long people have been having to wait for their CR1/IR1 visas to be delivered after they pass the interview? I know its impossible to determine exactly, but want to see what people who just received theirs via 2GO had as far as delivery.

  7. Greetings Visa Journey members,

My wife needs a bank draft made out to the Government of Hong Kong S.A.R. payable in Hong Kong Dollars. The bank of Hong Kong only issues bank checks to account holders. Our bank in Philippines BDO told us they do not issue these kinds of checks in another currency.

How can we pay Hong Kong government for my wife's police clearance? What a pain in the butt this has been. We wasted my last day in Manila trying to find a way.

  8. Greetings VJ members,

A phone operator at the NVC said they no longer send out the letter naming the alien and listing the needed documents. Hong Kong requires this letter along with other documents to send the police clearance. The operator told me that they now do their own check for Hong Kong and we were no longer required to obtain it. I'm here to ask for confirmation of this or not from any recent Imigrants. I'm not sure if the operators always have good info.

  9. Sad to say that, but it is really the ruling 6 months but in some cases you can make it sooner depends on how you work on it. But anyways, hope for the best for all of us, there is no one who can help us in this never ending journey.. Only our Dear Lord. Lets pray for all of us to get approved.

I guess I didn't make it clear. My wife took the transmittal from her home NSO office to Manila and they will release it at the end of October. She also has a stamped and signed copy from her local NSO office she got for her passport. I just needed to know if it would work for NVC and then give the NSO certified contract at Embassy, in the unlikely event that they are ready at the NVC before we get it.

  10. Greetings VJ members,

Married May 12th in the Philippines my wife and I requested advance endorsement of our marriage contract from the municipal hall where we were married. Apparently the clerk did not advance endorse it and we have yet to receive it. My wife discovered that the local NSO office could authenticate it so she could renew her passport. She also received a transmittal and flew to Manila to get the normal NSO certified contract. She ordered it and it will be around the 25th of October before its available.

My question is if she can just send the authenticated contract to me and I use that for the NVC (Remember it has been authenticated by NSO even though its the municipal original). Then present the one from the NSO in Manila at interview.

Thanks for your help, waiting for our NVC case number now as they received our case on Sept. 15th.

  11. check out this link originals and this Philippines

Marriage certificate, birth certificate, police records need to be original. And you submit a copy of her passport's bio page. Everyone feel free to add on to the list if I'm missing anything or if there's any country specific requirements that I did not notice.

So originals must be mailed in to NVC before appointment. Then you have to have a second set of originals for the embassy too? Will any of the documents be returned from the NVC or from the Embassy?

  12. Greetings VJ members,

After reading so much info here and elsewhere I'm not certain what documents can be copies and what must be originals... I was thinking that my wife could fill out and sign the OF-230 Pt 1&2, the OF-169 and mail to me via DHL along with whatever other documents. Could someone enlighten me on what will be required to be mailed to the NVC and what of the forms and documents need be original or certified?

We are CR-1 and she is Filipino and I U.S. citizen.

  13. When I had the copy of the local birth certificate of my kids from Cebu City Health, I went to NSO here in Cebu. And then they told me about that advance endorsement.

We were supposed to have advance endorsement. I donno what happened. My wife even had a relative in the municipal hall office where the marriage contract goes threw. We took ice cream and soda to them when we first applied trying to be nice. Apparently that wasn't enough...

Now my wife and I are quarreling over it all.

  15. Greetings fellow VJ members,

My wife and I were married on May 12th In Misamis Occidental Philippines, and have been trying to get our Certified Marriage Contract from the Philippines NSO. When we were married we were told that it would take 3 months. After 3 months we checked with the closest NSO office and they stated no record had been returned. My wife then checked in the Cebu NSO and they did not have it yet ether and also stated they only had records threw March as of yet. She then contacted the local NSO office Ozamiz and they told her they could give her a transmittal letter (Or something like that) so she could pick it up in Manilia. Now today she again went to NSO in Cebu and they stated they had files up threw April (Which sounded great until), but then stated it would take 6 months to a year for them to have the file.

Is there anyway we can get the C.M.C. without her traveling all the way to Manila? This is a nightmare because our petition was approved and we are on the NVC stage now. No one else seems to have waited this long to get theirs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  16. Greetings VJ members,

We are currently waiting for our NVC case number and I am wondering if it is ok for my wife (The beneficiary) to print out the DS-3032, fill it out, scan it, then e-mail it to me. I want to e-mail, but also mail hardcopy. Is it ok to send the ds-3032 from her e-mail, but also from my physical address via snail mail?

  17. Greetings my fellow VJers,

I got the best birthday present ever on September 15th, 2011 when my I-130 petition was approved by the USCIS. The e-mail actualy arrived at 12:15 AM eastern time on the 16th that we were approved.

Now I'm interested in the current time frame that people are experiencing getting their case number from the NVC and the rest of the other steps involved. I have read so much info here and elswhere my head is swimming...

We will probably use the shortcuts, but also snail mail.

  18. Greetings VJ members,

I'm using my sister as a backup sponsor for my wife's visa. My sister is a school teacher and the schoolboard will not send the employment letter to us. They want to send the leter to imigration. Currently we are days away from USCIS starting to look at our papers (May 26th priority, VJ shows USCIS on May 25th). What do we do? Do we wait for our case number from NVC theres no place on the form the schoolboard sent to my sister to put a case number. Can someone please enlighten me on how to handle this?

    Thanks Rick and Zenith

  19. Greetings VJ,

I want to take a leave of absence or quit my job after Affidavit of support is filed with NVC. I have my sister filing a separate I-864 as backup. Will the A.O.S. need to have updated as far as letter from my company and paycheck stubs when my wife goes for her interview? Its likely to be a few months in between the initial filing and the interview and I want to stay with her for the wait.
