you should get EAD in 60 days.

Hi everyone,
My wife and I did a K-1 and got married here and applied for a EAD/AP card while our AOS/i-485 is pending. She recently got her EAD/Advance Parole card and now is going to travel back to her home country to visit family, etc.
My questions:
1) On her passport it has her Maiden name, on her AP card it has her married last name. Which name does she use for the airline tickets?
2) Does she just need her passport w/ K-1 & i-94 on it & her AP card or does she need anything else? I am worried they will need proof she is went from maiden name to last besides the AP card. Should she bring marriage certificate?
Please, anyone who has traveled on Advance Parole before getting green card please walk me through what you needed to do.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!!!

Hi Everyone,
We filed for AOS & AP/EAD for our k-1 visa early June with a NOA of late June.
She had her Biometrix appt early July and we started waiting...
We just got the AP/EAD card this weekend (early August) so she can travel outside the country & work!
However....
We already had a civil marriage but we also planned a religious wedding (in late October) for friends & family to attend in her home country. Now all is good that she can travel but she still has a lot to do for the wedding and was hoping to leave in early September but we are worried we will get an AOS interview letter and she will have to do another round-trip flight back for it, which is $ we cant afford to throw out the window now. So my question is....
Would we most likely have gotten an AOS interview letter by now? Judging by others' timelines it looks like people get an interview letter before getting their AP/work card. If not, when should we expect the letter (how many months from filing or the NOA)? If there is no interview when would we expect the greencard?
Thanks in advance for all of your help!

They used to print it for you at the information booth but now they wont, you need the letter now. I would try to reschedule appt further out.

Look at people's timelines doing k-1s in Mexico. I think we got our letter one month after NVC completing.
-
Dont look at that list. Just look at other people's timelines (there is a timeline search on VJ) and you will get a really good estimate. You can "friend" some people that got their NOA1 a little ahead of you and when they get their NOA2 you will have a good idea. My estimate was 1-2 days off.

No, have to wait for Visa at DHL office. If you choose DHL office in Juarez it usually takes 2 days. However sometimes there are issues and it took weeks. I chose a DHL facility by my fiance's home (mexico city).

You are married now, no going back. Now you must start process again, K-1 is no longer an option.
-
They are not waiting for NVC, you probably arent on the top of their list. They have the forms, you can get them online.

Sounds great, but like other poster said, have photos developed, they wont look at a cd. Also, if you have photos of you with her family members or her with your family members those are the most important.

There are many sales jobs that need spanish speakers as well.

Well Central America the Bride's family pays for everything, the groom's parents buy the wedding dress & groom buys the rings.

Your lawyer is wrong. Photos with your fiance with your family members are important. Include the ones with him & your brother. Bring as many as you can, if you bring a lot of evidence they prob wont look at it but you will be ok. If you just bring 2 pics from each month they might look more at your other material.

If you both have blackberrys then you can do blackberry messenger texting for free.
-
This is unbelievable, fire your lawyer ASAP.
Add other people that have done IR-1/CR-1 Visas to your "friends" and ask them what they did and what was needed.

yeah, I found one on that thread. I live in LA. I would also check out the site listing civil surgeons and call each one in San Diego. Just when you call make sure they know to JUST transcribe them, many will try to get you to get another medical done or say you need more things done, dont believe them, go with an honest one not looking to scam. Should cost $40-$60.

90% go out next day, other 8% go out following day. other 2% have issues. I chose for them to send it to local DHL office just incase and not to pay hotel every night after.

K-1 is a FIANCE visa, if you get married in Mexico you are not fiances, you are married. Whole different process. I went K-1 route which my lawyer recommended but I'm sure there are others who did the other way that can help... But dont do K-1 app
-
I read that you cant change it once you make appt, etc. If there is a local DHL office location you can choose I would do that. I chose one in Mexico City and there were no problems. If you run into any issues in Juarez you could be stuck for weeks waiting at their DHL.

Yes, you need to have letter, dont listen to others. It doesnt have special # but you need it. You should get it about a month to 6 weeks after CDJ receives it.
-
make sure income is above $20K, they dont want immigrant to be a burden, check requirements for income or assets
-
-
K-1s dont need vaccines at CDJ or beforehand, but its good to get them done in Mexico before you come to US b/c it is much cheaper & u will need them later on. That way you just bring the medical records w/ you and have them transcribed for $50.
-
Correct, but you have to find a civil surgeon that will just transcribe the vaccinations from spanish to english onto the form. Many civil surgeons take advantage of uninformed people and insist that they need a new medical exam. This is NOT correct, shop around and find an honest one.
problem with civil surgeons
in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas

I had to call 3 before I found one that does just what they are supposed to do for k-1s. Problem is these "civil surgeons" want to scam un-informed people so they can make more $. It should cost you about $40-60. You may have to find one further away.
