  1. Hi fellow May filers!

On topic: Ok...so we sent the rfe evidence back. They wanted evidence of us having met in the last 2 years and they received it yesterday.

Off topic: Now then, my brother is doing a PhD and has a questionnaire.

Pleeeease will you take a look? I hope it is something to take your mind off endless checking of timelines and case status!! Even for the ONE minute it takes!!

    The link is here

It is very quick and it would be great if he got opinions from all over the world because of you guys.

Back on topic: i hope everyone is staying sane. I actually was taken into hospital the DAY before we finally heard about the rfe. So ironic that the ONE day I didn't/couldn't check the status was the day they sent us news about our case. Like they say, it comes when you LEAST expect it!

Stay happy and thanks to anyone that helps my clever bro ;)

  2. Team Katman and everyone else feeling the wait, you're not alone. I know that's obvious but seriously, it means a lot. I didn't post on here for a while because it was really getting to me but I still read the encouragement from/for everyone else and it helped me move into a more positive waiting phase. Thanks everyone for posting something every day, just to let us know we're not the only May filers awake at stupid o'clock checking timelines!!

  3. Hey folks, how's it going?! Still waiting here in England. I hope you don't mind I stole the 'where will you go first' question for our blog. I'm trying to stay busy whilst we wait so anything helps, right? That's why I don't post on here too much but I actually check about 100 times a day to see if anyone else has been approved from May.

It's so cool to see the support for eachother! Haha by the way we're hopefully moving to the Florida Keys and we'll be 90 miles from the nearest Walmart...what will we doooo?!

I bought the dress I'll get married in...eventually! I also found some shoes the other day so even though I'm going insane waiting I've had a little bit of fun looking forward to that day.

    Good luck this week, everyone!

  4. Yes, there is a hell of a lot of ignorance about what it takes to move to the US. So far I have been told I need to become an au pair, my fiance needs to have a million dollars, that nobody who has been arrested is allowed into the US, that 'you just write to the Embassy and they send you a greencard' (actually, talking to both parents about their experiences in the late 70's that may once have been a little true). Worst of all, there is the immediate assumption that marriage to a US citizen is to gain LPR status. "Would you marry him if he was from Bolton?" Err...I lived in Bolton and yep...I would.

  5. So, Mayflies...sorry May filers... what are we all doing to keep busy? I'm trying to trick my mind into thinking 'I can't be approved too soon, I have too much to do!' so I'm attempting one or two 'jobs' every 10 days or so. Here is a list of things I'm doing to keep busy- my interview will one day be in London...

Go to Glastonbury Festival! Spending 5 days in mud listening to bands and spending time with friends and family sure takes your mind off this process...I honestly think I thought about it maybe once!!!

Got a new doctor and I will make appointments soon to have some vaccinations that I need

Looking at visajourney and other forums for info (every day because I'm obsessed)

Familiarising me and my bloke with the next forms we have to fill in and their requirements

Getting insurance for my beautiful engagement ring

Ordered my birth certificate and will get the police cert in a month or so...got to spread the tasks out!

Looking at jobs and houses in the place we plan to live

Writing to my future in-laws. I know this isn't meant to be a 'job' but I'm just trying to be really intentional about getting to know a new family who are still thousands of miles away

Ordering a new passport, mine runs out in November

Trying to mentally work out what I'll take with me, what i'll sell and what I'll give away. If you think it's too soon then you'll also laugh how my family and housemates between them have already put claims on most of my belongings!

Oh and one day there's a wedding to plan (no date set yet of course). Busy busy busy. Almost 2 months since NOA1 and they've flown by...err kind of.

  6. Hi all,

I just got my NoA2 yesterday - yay! Now were just trying to sort out the forms for the next stage. My question is regarding the I-134 specifically through the Embassy in London. According to this website it doesn't look like you need to file a I-134 but i'm a bit confused. http://london.usembassy.gov/faffidavit.html

I just want to know if I have sufficient amount in savings do we NEED to file a I-134? My financial situation is a lot stronger than my fiances so it seems a bit silly to me to submit the affidavit when I have enough resources of my own to prove I will not become public charge?

I am aware that the I-134 is mandatory for other countries but I would really appreciate if anyone has any direct experience of this through London - thanks!!!

Congratulations on your NOA2 and happy birthday!

I am behind you in the process so I am sure someone else will come along to help and correct me if I'm wrong...

As far as my research has shown, the London Embassy allows you to 'self sponsor' this portion of your move. They will often use the amounts required for the I-864 (used at AOS stage) as a guideline for your finances. You mention your situation is strong. It has been stated by others in the past that property is not seen as a legitimate asset as the funds can't be accessed easily lately. You need to check you have enough income/assets to carry you through 3 years of 125% of the poverty guidelines and you can prove where it came from and how you can access it. Someone correct me if this is wrong?
