Hi, i'm in the same situation....how did things end up? we're hoping to use foreign assets, but if not, have a joint sponsor ready

It was such a long time ago that I honestly don't remember the specific reasoning - but they did not accept our foreign assets (which were in fact substantial). They had to be stateside assets to be accepted. My father-in-law ended up having to sponsor me for ten years (ie. in case of job loss/hardship, he is financially responsible for me and I am not eligible for welfare etc). I remind him of this every time he trash talks my golf game.

  2. The envelope though, there was a new process for the Aussie people that I read about. Where you need to register on a website or something. Is there nothing about that anywhere? I'm trying to find that link.

Very strange - and no there's not (officially).

Regarding the online profile, reading that website (again, not referenced in P4 or on the consulate website), it states:

    http://ustraveldocs....tcollection.asp

The cost for Australia Post to deliver or hold your passport is included in the visa application fee.

So, perhaps the P4 is accurate at this point in time and I do not need to bring an Aus Post envelope, or more passport photos.

Though, it doesn't say I should create an online profile!

  3. Hi All,

I have my interview tomorrow. Reading other reviews, people have mentioned they needed an Aus Post envelope yet it's not mentioned anywhere in my interview letter, nor is it mentioned on the consulate website.

Also, in my interview letter, it states:

The applicant must bring the correct size and number of photographs to the visa interview. They must measure 2 inches by 2 inches (5 cm by 5 cm) on a white background.

Yet again, no where do they clarify exactly what they are after. I have a feeling the photos overlap with what was already provided to the NVC thus the consulate will already have them.

Anyway, just hoping someone can shed some light on this!

    Cheers,

    Adam

  4. am just curious about these metals in your body. Is it bullets?

No, I had a motorbike accident in 2008. What is left in there right now is a screw in my knee, rod/screws in my femur, plate/screws in my elbow.

I know in Australia, we have state healthcare so there were some restrictions for my wife when she came here.

I think my issues shouldn't be a problem though, wouldn't they only be looking for people who are 'sick' rather than 'disabled'?

  5. Just got an NVC email and thought, it the interview info - it was just the case complete email (that's a pretty good gap between actual case complete and notification).

Yep, I got one too.. and didn't contact them via email at any stage..

I saw an email from the NVC and my mind was going INTERVIEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW DATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE..

    ..but no.
