  1. Thank you all so much for your responses; this is definitely a learning experience and never considered there would be so many options!  I will inform them that marriage is not in the cards if they want to come sooner.  These timelines are a bit daunting, so we'll see how committed she is to really going through with it.

Thank you again!!  Really appreciate it!

    Hi,

Is your husband a USC or an LPR?  Does he plan on applying for US citizenship if he's an LPR?

Did you marry your husband before your stepdaughter's 18th birthday?

    How old are her children?

Hi!  He is an LPR; I would probably apply for her as the USC.  We were married before her 18th birthday; she has an almost 2 year old and one on the way.

    Thank you!!

  3. Hello!  My stepdaughter wants to move here with her fiance and 2 children.  She is over 21 and they are unmarried.  Would it be beneficial for them to remain unmarried and file F-2b, or to get married and file F-3?  The concern would be how long they would be apart is we did F-2b, and then had to file to bring him over.  Does anyone have any experience with this they could share please?  My husband moved here 8 years ago from England but she wasn't ready yet (when it would have been much easier!).

    Thank you very much!

  4. Interview this morning - APPROVED!

Will post his review later but he was asked for nothing other than the i-134 and the appointment letter. 157 pages of skype history printed for nothing. :P

One moment of panic when the interviewer said he had to check on something in his police report that might make him ineligible but all was well. He even gotten flirted with by the girls at the courier counter, so I'm guessing he thinks it was a day well spent.

Congrats to all the approvals and weddings and whatnot that I will catch up on tonight!

    SLMcT - good luck tomorrow!

  5. So I called DOS and wahoo!!! Interview date is set! Checked with her to make sure I heard her correctly when she said 10/13, she assured me yes. Checked the calendar to plan, and whaaaaaaat? That's Saturday? Is that even possible? LOL! They just like to make this all as confusing as possible, don't they? Guess we will wait for the official letter and see what that says, but at least something is booked! Does that mean I have to apologize for all the moaning last week?

Hope everyone else who is waiting on this, that and the other thing gets it SOON! Heehee!

OR the first person I spoke to is dyslexic and it's really 10/31, according to the nice lady who verified for me. Not as good as the 13th, but I'll take it.

  7. I just got off the phone with the DOS again. The girl told me that the consulate only assigns dates once a month and they have already done it this month for the October interviews. She said that it's possible to still get an October interview, but it'll probably be next month before they start assigning interviews again. If I understood her correctly, they might still try to fill days if there are cancellations.

I don't know if this was correct information or not, but I thought I'd pass it along. It's still not going to stop me from calling the DOS next week!

I so don't want to believe that. :-( The interviews I've seen given out lately have seemed to be for early October so I'm still cautiously optimistic that October isn't out of reach yet. *desperately clinging to evaporating shreds of hope*

    Too dramatic? :blush::blush:

  8. Hi All -- just got our interview date by calling DOS, and thought I'd share our timeline for others that are waiting as well.

We sent all of the "Packet 3" documents, including DS2001 on August 28. Laura's medical exam was on August 30. After patiently waiting a couple of weeks I called DOS yesterday (Sept 18). They told me that their system showed everything logged as being received one day earlier, Monday, September 17, but no interview date yet. I called again today (Sept 19) and they did have an interview date in their system: October 3, 2012... only 2 weeks away!

We still haven't received a formal letter, of course, but it sounds like they assigned the date today and we'll hopefully get the official notice shortly. I am a little surprised at the close timing between now and the interview date (we didn't mention a specific wedding date or travel plans, so I assumed there'd be at least a 4 week spread), but very happy and grateful about this news. (And really hoping the rep at DOS was looking at the correct file! :D )

Thanks for sharing that! We still have a few weeks before I'm expecting anything but that's not too bad a timeframe. :-)

  9. I called the US Embassy, they said that my paperwork had been processed and I should hear within 3 weeks for my interview date. :) Really hoping that they make that within a week ;)

So it took them just over a week to process my paperwork(packet 3) for those of you going through the US Embassy here.

This is the most uplifting post I've seen in a while - was so dreading the 9 week lead time! This definitely raises my hopes a bit - thank you! (F)

  10. ok! so what i found out today.

It is taking 6 weeks from when they receive the Packet 3 to log it.

when they log it they also assign you an interview date.

that interview date tends to be 3 weeks more.

so total 9 weeks from when they received your packet 3 or whatever limiting factor you had. 9 weeks until your british half walks in to the interview.

then it is another 5 business days to put it in your passport, and if you pay for overnighting then 24 hrs. to get the passport back.

sadly, that puts us, with everything exactally how they said, at nov. 8th.. for a nov. 11th wedding.

And so the frustration and wait continues... I don't care about planning the wedding, it's the simple things like work schedules and appointments and stuff that I am putting on hold until I know when I can go get him. Told the kids he'd be here by Halloween because that seemed reasonable...will have the change that AGAIN. Grrrrrr.

  11. Hi friends!

Happy to see some of you that have been waiting got your approvals. Julian's medical is Friday and it looks like, (through DHL) that the embassy got our package this morning!!!!

Julian spent all day yesterday working on the packet 3 paperwork and is all done with that so we are getting it done!

    YAY heart.gifrose.gifluv.gif

Sid's interview is Friday as well! Wish I knew the time...heehee! How far is Julian from Knightsbridge? Sid has a 2 hour train journey ahead of him. Our paperwork went in yesterday and hope it's a short wait from medical to interview date! Now we just debating between a November or January wedding date...it never ends. :P

  12. I go away for one weekend and all these approvals come rolling in - how awesome! Especially when weekends have been vast wastelands of hopelessness recently... KEEP 'EM COMING TODAY VSC! We still have a few friends left that need to come along for the ride!

    CONGRATS EVERYONE!

(PS - anyone know how I track the movement through NVC? Must be having a blonde moment but can't seem to find it)

  13. Gosh when I arrived here for the summer to be with Glenn it had been 2 months since we put in our second petition. I really believed we would have seen that NOA2 before leaving to go back to Canada. I have been here almost 4 months.... My cheery optimistic attitude is faltering a little and that all too familiar sick feeling of saying good bye once again is present. Last year when I went back to Canada I lost my parents... all of them and so I have this heavy black cloud sitting on my shoulder at the thought of going back. I am keeping busy with some of the wedding details and that is helping but sheeeeeesh PLEASE let us all get our NOA2.

    :crying::crying:

    thanks for listening everyone

    Terri

    ((((((((HUGS))))))))

Completely understand how you feel! We parted in June thinking the next time we saw each other would be moving time - but nope. One more visit for my birthday, one more goodbye. Argh. Counted the NOA2 by events - 'surely by the imte my camping trip is over in July we'll know'...then 'by the beginning of August for sure'...can't plan a damn thing! Come and vent your frustrations! I have to believe it can't, it just can't be that much longer now!!! Well, as crappy as it is that there are so many of us waiting, is it selfish that I'm glad I'm not alone? :-p

    TODAY!!!!! (i hope)

  14. I know. I can't believe we didn't see a single approval today. I can't take much more of this. My upbeat hopeful attitude for the week is dropping off pretty sharply after today being such a total dud!

At this point I will offer up my firstborn for my NOA2! Or a kidney! I have more of both!

Seriously though - this is getting awful. ANd it;s even worse that there is absolutely nothing I can do - it's out of my control.

AH well - maybe tomorrow? :hehe:

  15. Hello -

My fiance has sent away for his army discharge certificate, but we have not heard a word - it's been about 2 weeks. There was only a contact address, we could not find a phone # or email address. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is the London embassy a stickler for this? We have everything else we need, and just aren't sure how to find out what's going on with this.

    Thanks! :)
