  1. I beg to differ, I have noticed quite a few cases here where walk-in biometrics speeds up the process because for those cases they ended up getting their interview appointment letter before their actual bio appointments happened. Also for those who got their congressmen involved to speed up the EAD process, they had to prove that they had already done the biometrics. So I think it does have an effect to an extent. But if the local office is very backed up, my guess is that it doesn't matter then.

  2. Got my biometrics appointment notice in the mail today set for July 22, but thinking of going in next week to get it done as a walk in. Excited!! :) But confused as to why I am not getting emails/text messages about anything. I made a USCIS account for my case status and turned email and text message notification on and still nothing. Weird. Anyone else having this problem? Oh well, at least I got my biometrics letter. I hope I get my EAD in the next two months..I really need to start working!

  3. There seems to be a fair bit of misperception here. The only stipulation in US law regarding the diversity visa lottery is that it has to be random (which it was). There's also no way of knowing that the way applicants were selected disenfranchised those who didn't apply in the first few days - the sample may simply have come out that way randomly.

Regardless, there has been a lack of a clear explanation by the Department of State and no clarity on how the original 22,000 will be affected in future - i.e. as they showed 'intent to immigrate' they may never be allowed to visit the USA as tourists if their country isn't part of the visa waiver program.

The current class action lawsuit filed by Ken White against the Department of State will hopefully clear this up.

It's is unfortunate that it happened, but they have clearly laid out why it happened that way. It wasn't "random" that it only included the people that applied early, if that were the case the results wouldn't have been voided. Like I said it really is unfortunate and a bit embarrassing, but there really is nothing else they can do.

  4. Does not say you are citizen but does replace the green card. If you have green card and receive SS #, you are asked to tear up the green card. Most of the time when you go for change of status interview you are told to bring in green card to show it destroyed in front of Immigration interviewer. There was no reason for you to apply for green card.

    You are confused and confusing.
