  1. HI vj,

I need little help to clarify the ds 230 package. After paying the IV fees, NVC instructions require application to turn in ds-230 package including all civil documents. Does anyone know if you send the ds 230 package directly to the NVC at address below or do get the ds 230 package from the Ho Chi Minh Consulate? I already called the NVC and told to send in the package before the NVC forward my parents IR5 case to HCM. is this true? Thanks

  2. Can anyone tell me if they have gotten a blue sheet like this and how did it get resolved for you? Is it as bad as it sounds?

    post-47170-1225415677_thumb.jpg

    Thanks for any thoughts.

    Jack,

Expect to hear back from the Consulate in the 1st quarter of 2009 and hope your fiancee recieves the Visa.

Good luck to both of you.

  3. I just got a letter for an interview. I got here with K1.

Do I have to bring MY birth certificate? or just my husband's birth certificate? He is USC and has a passport. His passport is not accepted?

We rent a house with my mother in law. Actually the renter is my husband's uncle, and my mother in law, my husband and I live there. My husband pays rent to his mom. We still have copies of checks for the rent. But, it is not my name. It is my husband's name. Is it ok?

I have a shared bank document, insurance card which shows that I am under his plan, shared credit cards, and marriage certificate. I can print out some bills that mail to me.

    Is it enough?

The thing is that I do not have a ring yet. I have a severe metal allergy and it will be so much money for him to buy a pure silver or gold ring. So he is saving enough money right now to buy in the future.

    Please share your experience.

    Kit,

My wife just had an interview last week I believe same office as yours. 34 Civic Center in Santa Ana. We were approved without complication. Remember to bring with you your wedding pictures, and an interpreter if your wife does not speak English although the letter stated you can be one, but in my case with officer Marcel he asked some stranger sitting in a waiting room to help us out. We were so lucky that day that we had a Vietnamese English speaker in the waiting room that was willing to help us.

In most spouse case, an officer will not allow the spouse to be an interpreter. We arrived at 9:45 AM and was out of there by 10:20 AM.

    Good luck and don't swet!!!!

  4. Hello Everyone!!! Got my interview scheduled on OCTOBER 10, 2008 in LA.

That's so cool. Mine is 10 days after you. USCIS still not update online. Mine I-485 last update was 4/2/08 and My wife got an interview letter in mail yesterday.

There is a whole list of documents we need to bring to the interview. I have a question regarding the I-693 (medical). we submitted the I-693A (supplement) when we filed the AOS. Does anyone have to do whole medical again before the interview? We did not have any touch or RFE since BIO.

    Thanks in advance.

  5. Hello every one.

My fiancee had her interview at the HCMC Consulate on Thursday the 24th . We thought our documents were really well prepared. We 've been through every thing several times, made sure we had everything in order. We also have ME is our lawyer for the case from start. We had plenty of evidence and it was well documented, my fiance listened and practiced sample questions prepared by ME, but after the interview, she came out with a blue slip. Here is list of what US consulate in Ho Chi Minh asking for:

1-petitioner: Please provide the full name , current address, and date and place of birth of your ex-spouse. Provide evidence of his/her current address. Also pelase indicate when your ex spouse immigrated to the united states. Did he/ she imingrated with you? Did some one sponsor him/her? If so, whats their name? Did she come to the US by boat? If so please indicatewhen he/she left Viet Nam. Through what camp he/she immingrated

2- Applicant: Please provide the full name, current address, and date and place of birth of your ex-spouse. Please provide evidience of his/ her current address

3- Petitioner: Please provide us with a proof of the airlines tickets you use to visit Viet nam. If the ticket were purchased with a credit card, please provide a copy of statements showing who purchased your airline tickets to visit Viet nam ( copy of statements are available from credit card company ) . I had everything done and notary all documents, I will Fedex to Viet nam by Monday, I will update my case later, hopefully Mr ME can help us push the case go thru . I have all my question up here so who ever have coming interview day know what you should expect to have and prepare with your interview, try to think that if missing one of these documents will be a big trouble thing for your case. I dont know if any one else has the same situation? can we share?

    Hey Phillipt,

Sorry to hear about your case, but you'll be fine. Just take longer than other. Our situation was similar to yours. I believe the ex-spouse info is almost routine at HCMC (90% of cases are delayed for this reason.) They asked me for the same thing although we had everything during the intial interview and they did not look at them. I wrote a long story about my ex-spouse and how we broke up and sumit along with 129I. I just did not have evidence that we lived in separted places to present to the CO during the interview.

Make sure you have your ex-spouse ultilities bills, gas, electric and phone bills different than yours.

    Good luck.

  6. I plan to retire in VN in 20 years :-)

This is an interesting topics that I've thought for a while. I don't know about any1 else, but this is what I'll do in 20 years. By this time, my 401k plus SS check should be plenty. I like the fact that when I get old, I still have social interaction in VN, example hang out at cafe with old friends without having to worry about anything and hire a mate to cook and clean. I like the fact that food and services in VN is very cheap compare to here in the US and the buy power of the dollars.

I'm dreaming of building a small to medium US retiree community with all amenities available in VN.

  7. pasaitoh and AmericanGentleman,

Sorry to hear about your cases. OH Man! everytime I heard stories like you guys, my heart is burning like a wild fire. I was as mad and as sad like you guys are now. When I was there, I almost punched through the glass window and choked those F**kers (Vietnamese staff) to death. I saw many black cabinets right behind window 8 or 9 with a giant word lable PENDING. I belive 80% of those cases are eithier Californian or Texan petitioners. Is there any way to stop this prejudice process, wondering?

I wrote my story about 9 months ago how I dealt with those mother f**kers over there. They didn't send my case back to the US like you guys, but they made our lives a living hell.

I assume it must be very difficult to fight a case that may be returned to the states. My case was delayed for almost 2 years, but they kept it in HCMC. The short Asian CO was the one who approved my case after so many blue and green slips handed out to my wife by the same Vietnamese staff (I think he was waiting for my bribe money, which he didn't get a cent) I wish I can help, but what I know you guys probably already knew. If you laywer can't fight for you, I can't think of anyone who can. Hopefully your Senators or congressmen or congresswomen get involved.

Does anyone dare to said that someone actually paid bribe to those Vietnamese staff to get pass K-visas? I'm always wondering what those offices located near the US Ambassy have to offer. Do they have any connection with those VS(bunch of ###*oles)?

I wish you guys the best of luck fighting for you loves, we're always on your side.

  10. Hello again VJs,

Does any1 apply for driver license in California before he/she gets his/her green card? We went to DMV on Friday and was told to come back when my wife gets her GC. DMV can't process her application because her I-94 will expire in April. My wife showed DMV her passport, SSC, and all USCIS NOA + the BIO appointment, but enough. They want to see her GC, which she did not have.

You can apply for CA DL even without a GC. I think it just depends on the person you talk to. You will need SSN for sure and passport. I applied for one as a student before and they accepted it even without SSN.

Thanks for your input. I guess it really depends on who to talk to. In our case the supervisor told his staff to ask us to wait. Any way, there is no rush for my wife.

  12. Hi all:

Is blue a good thing or bad? The blue slip looks generic and all intructions are translated to Vietnamese except for one paragraph re: timeline of relationship is not translated to Vietnamese, why? They ask for 1)timeline of relationship in detailed story and 2) proof of purchase of airline tickets--paid by cash or credit card? I compared mine and my friend who was interviewd by the same CO, we both got same instructions.

Anyone out there has any expirences re: blue slip, please help/share.

    Gracias!

    Hola all:

Just an update on my case--we've submitted all docs requested above. Then we got another blue slip asking for my parents' Birth Certs and her's parents' Birth Certs. We all have different last names, but have no ideas why this being asked. I will send them to her asap and will update you all. Anyway is this good or bad? Thanks all peeps out there for reading and responding to my posts.

    Peace

    Hi all:

She submitted the Birth Certs yesterday & got a Pink Slip. Will pick up Visa on 3/17.

    Visao,

A big Congrats to you both. That was smooth!

  13. Hi Vietnam related VJ members

My fiance' got interview on 2-20-08. it took about 20 minutes, smoothly went through with the general question such as when, where you guys met? how you guys communicated? When, where he proposed to you ? any engagement ,where, when, who attended? then they want to see evidences: phone bills, e-mail, chat logs, pictures.......after all of that BLUE SLIP, which said they need:

1- petitioner and beneficiary's birth certificate ( perhap my last name is same as her mother last name )

    2- beneficiary's ex-spouse info and address ( my fiance's divorced in 2004 )

3- 2 electronic version of DS 156 form ( vietnam filers : you must go online fill out form DS 156 then print them for your interview not fill out the ones that they sent with instruction package)

I sent by fedex express to her:

    - Notarized letter explained why i am not able to obtain my parent's birth certificate because they both died when i were a kid.

    - However , i still have my father' s death certificate ( with all the in fo on it such as his father, mother name, adress....) and my parent's marriage certificate ( with all the info about them and my grand parent)

    - A certificate of local goverment to assign us ( me and my sibling ) to a charity for giving up when my parent passed away

My fiance' got all of her papers:

    - her parent's birth certificates

    - her ex information with notarized of local police where her ex is living

    - 2 electronic DS156

On 2-28-08 She submitted all of the required documents to HCM consulate office.

After waiting about 2 hours 30 minutes they gave her a GREEN SLIP which said that : your case requires additional processing in our office. You do not need to submit futher documents. We will contact you when we have finished processing your case.

THEN MY FIANCE' IS FEELING MISERABLE

    Some of my thoughs were:

    - Through interview, with all evidences provided they did not ask for time-line that means our relationship is ok

    - The subtituded documents for my parent's birth certificate are ok, because they have all the information that they required to see if you are related to your fiance'.

Why we got GREEN paper? GREEN means denied? administration review? or something else?

    Any advices, greatly thanks

I must have something to cheer my girl and make her stop crying

    Tung,

I feel your pain. Just hang in there and eventually you both will get through with this proecess. We went through alot in this process, at least 3 or 4 blues and a few green slips, 2 medical exams and interviews. It took us a year and half since our first blue back in 2006. I hope your fiancee does not have to go though what we'd been through. I would suggest, when ever you can after your fiancee hear from the Consulate, to fly back and request to talk with the cheif with MC help if you can. Don't let them asking one thing after another, as for my case each time they asked for more info, it took at least 2 or 3 months before we heard from them again.

Good luck to both of you and reunited soon.

    Menyoo,

    Hi VJs,

I'm newbie in this forum and plan to file AOS sometimes next month. I have 1 question regarding the fees.

As I understand, the total fees is 1,010 for all forms (485,765,and 131) filed together for K-1 arrival, correct.

I don't have to pay these when filed togheter with 485, right?

I-131 –> $-170 (no cost while I-485 is processed; for travel outside US)

I-765 –> $-180 (no cost while I-485 is processed; allows work)

    Thanks in advance.

  16. Wait4ever,

Wow! No surpise to me at all in fact that's how the Vietnamese government operates whether here or in Vietnam makes no difference. Every Vietnamese government employee is in for himself or herself. Didn't you guys know that some VG employees pay bride money to get a government job? I know for a fact that my distance relative who lives in Vietnam had to pay someone higher up to get a job as "Canh Sat Giao Thong" traffic police.

You did the right thing for not sending any extra money for your wife's passport renewal. I learned something from you when I need to renew my wife's passport.

    Thanks for the info.
