  1. Thanks Boiler.  Correct me if I am wrong, but if he got married to her, then I can co-sponsor?  They have been together for several years, so the intention is already there.

In reality, they do not want to be apart.  I know he wouldn't have a problem getting a job that meets the requirements, but it would be the six months apart that they do not wish to do.

  2. Thanks for moving the post Ontarkie, and for your response Boiler.

My son would not have the money to do this, but I would and have the earnings to do it.  Is there a way to co-sponsor?     I am really not certain of the easiest way, or how to go about finding the information.

  3. I really am not sure where to go for the answer to this.  But this forum was really helpful years back so hoping someone ca help.

I am British, married a American, had a child in the USA.   We lived with said child in UK as he is duel national.  6 years ago we moved back to the USA.  I am looking to move back to the UK and taking my job with me, having accommodation and also financial means.

My son would like to move back (he is duel) and wants to bring his fiancee with him who is a US citizen.  He and she currently lives in the US. They are engaged and have some evidence of their relationship.    What is the easiest and best way to do this?

  4. With all the changes that are being discussed for immigration, I wonder if I can take your time to discuss my son.

My Husband is American, myself British.

I was in Florida sorting my immigration back in 1998 for 4 1/2 years with my son and daughter (both English), my husband and myself had 2 further children (both duel citizen's) in Florida.

Anyway, our immigration was going through and the older children were in a Florida State high school during this time. My immigration stopped through a series of errors (admitted by INS), and we decided to go back to England in 2002 (my son was 15 and daughter 17 at the time).

When my younger children got to High School age, we went back to the USA, and my immigtration completed and I obtained an IR1.

My daughter is now married (28) and has a son (my grandson). My son is 25 almost 26, in the military and is single.

Both would like to come over to join us in the USA, but I am unsure what is required and how long it would take. Also with the current discussions going on, if any of this would impact our situation.

Thank you so much for your input.

    Kind regards

  5. I just flew with my dog on the 10th November 2011. I chose American airlines, because of bringing him, they were really helpful. We chose the airport for the POE based on temperatures, as, if it is too hot or cold, they will not take animals, and you wont know this till the day! LA seemed the best one, for my journey.

I booked him to go, but again you don't pay until the day. I got a cage off of a website (140 pounds), made sure I had everything. I needed a health certificate, but not a rabies shot. I wasn't up to date on my vaccinations, but they did not seem worried about it. Arrived on the day, with Alex. He is a German Shepard, so I couldn't put him in the cage in the car, but did so in the car park! I took him to the AA check in, in terminal 3 at Heathrow, and checked him in, paid $175.00! I arrived 3 hours before my flight and was pleased i did, it took 45 minutes to check Alex in! He was quiet..didn't bark at all. After we got checked in, I took him outside for a walk, until about an hour before the flight.

I took Alex who was inside the cage, to the area for over-sized baggage, where i had to remove him, so security could check the cage, then they check his collar, and he was put back inside.

We then flew the 10 hours or so. When I finally saw him after my POE he was perfectly happy, excited to see me! I took him outside in LA, they have a dog area there, which he christened almost on cue! Welcome to America Alex!

A few hours later, we took a connecting flight to Vegas, no problems at all.

Total cost , under 300 pounds!

    Total experience - 10 / 10

  6. Sorry for the belated updates, been busy reuniting with my sons and hubby!

I POE'ed into LA, with my dog. No problems, in fact they were very laid back. The only thing I found a bit unusual, was they didn't seem to know who should process it and left the all important envelope and my passport on the end of a counter where anyone could of picked it up!

It stayed there for probably 30 minutes, then my dog started barking in the airport as he heard me talking..so they sped it through!

I then took a connecting flight to Vegas a few hours later. A long journey finally completed.

Good luck to all who are waiting

  7. congrats to all approvals and good luck to those who are still waiting to go to interview.

I am flying over after so long now to be with my husband and children on the 10th (2 days to go..well less really as it is an early flight!) I still havent packed..as I discovered I couldnt put my life time memories in one case and need to buy another one.

I have a very long flight and six hour break before connecting to my final destination....just so I can bring the family dog with me!

I have missed them all so much...it has been a tough road, happy to see the end in sight...of course I am now worrying about POE and any problems with the dog...

Think my family will see me totally grey by the end of all of this.

My interview was probably much harder than most in london, as I lived in the USA before, while doing the immigration paperwork..which the INS eventually lost the paperwork. So the interviewer in London wanted to make sure I didn't overstay, which happily, she was satisfied all was in order...phew!

I wish you all the best!

  8. One more week until we're in interview scheduling territory!

Anyone else experiencing erratic mood swings? I've gone though all the rational emotions now (sadness to be away from him, happiness we're getting things sorted, anger it's taking so long, hopefulness, depression, desperation...) that I think my body's gone, "sod this!" and finally gone crazy.

My emotions are and were all over the place, gonna add nervousness to your list! Maybe it is just me, but every step I have been so nervous.

Emptying my house at the moment is keeping me a little distracted, from re-checking everything yet again for Thursday's interview. I think I am kinda overdoing it to be honest, I have made sure every card I own has enough money available for the courier, just incase 'x' bank's system is down and I have to use another one.. Crazy times!

  9. Excited to be here..nervous as hell..gone over the paperwork 100 times already!

  10. The flu jab used to apply to adults over 50. In November 2010 the US changed their immunization requirements to incluse a flu jab for all persons over 6 months of age, but ONLY DURING FLU SEASON. Flu season is October 1 - March 31. Married people getting a CR1 visa will pretty much stick to this schedule unless they are on the cusps of flu season. If your medical was done during flu season and you immigrant visa is granted during flu season, then you need a flu shot. But if your medical was during flu season (say March) and by your visa approval time (interview), it was no longer flu season (say May) then the flu shot is waived according to USCIS standards for immigrants.

For K1s, the immunizations are required for AOS, not the visa. If you get every shot needed documented by Knightsbridge on the DS3025 sheet, then you can use that as proof for your AOS and skip the civil surgeon in the US. So there are several date factors for you to consider.

    • Medical during flu season (Oct 1-Mar 31) and AOS decided (not submitted but adjudicated) during flu season: you need flu shot
    • Medical during flu season, but AOS adjudicated after flu season: you don't need flu shot because it's no longer flu season.
    • Medical not in flu season, but AOS adjudicated during flu season: you don't need flu shot because you were current at the time of you medical exam. They don't make you get something that wasn't required on the date of you exam just because it took them several months to start adjudicating your case.

Just read it a couple of times to get your head around it.

Edit to add: the nurses at Knightsbridge are not always totally accurate on immigration matters.

wow awesome you found something official on it, certainly caught me unawares, and I am pretty reasonable at trolling through the mounds of information.

    Thank you

  11. Just thought I would add that I was there on 31st March and never was told that I needed a flu shot. Wonder what that is about because if they had been informed in February of this then it would have applied to myself also. I had a flu shot about 4 years ago so this is most certainly out of date. Good luck with getting your interview dates hope they dont take too long.

Yeah seemed kinda wierd to me also..IF it was Feb as the doctor said, then I am sure the staff would have been briefed..or certainly should have or at least the website updated.

That said, I only phoned last week to check I had everything and they made no mention of the flu shot. Of course they said I could have it done elsewhere..but they know people won't want to delay things.

  12. Hi there

    I had my medical today.

I arrived early..very nervous. About 10 minutes after I arrived I was given a form to fill in, pretty much the same as the website one, but a couple of more questions, then handed that back in with the rest of my information that I had brought:

Police Certificate (I took original as I got a few when I first ordered, they photocopied it)

Photograph (I took one of each USA and UK version) they wanted UK version

    Vaccination record

    Original completed form

    Passport

First I went to a nurse, who informed me that back in February the US embassy require that all people need to have a flu shot. As I only phoned last week, and went over what I had and what was needed and was told I had everything I needed, it was quite a surprise to pay out a further £21.00 for flu shot...ah well!

Then I was sent straight into another room, and was asked to strip top half and put on a 'dressing gown' type garment. They took my x-ray. I asked a couple of questions about it, to find it was all ok. With my robe still on, I was sent to a different waiting room.

I got called by the doctor, who was very polite and friendly. First I was weighed, and my height taken, then an eyesight test. Asked to sit on a bed for blood pressure to be taken (Mine was a bit high...but pretty sure it was just because of nerves and stress of this pesky process!), checked inside my ears and also a bright light in my eyes and mouth.

I was asked to take off my gown, and my breasts were examined (Like the cancer checks us ladies are meant to do)! Followed by listening to my heart and lungs. Next was to remove my trousers to my knees, where she pressed a couple of areas in my groin area...guess this was the sex check..who knows LOL.

Finally to pull up trousers and put gown back on for a blood test..she said for Syphilis. And then asked to get dressed again behind the screen, like she hadn't seen me by now anyway! Paid my £210 + £21.00 and was given a receipt, my police certifcate and passport back, plus the vaccination record they had done.

Anyway, I passed (subject to blood test being ok, which it certainly should be...in my books thats a pass!)so all in all an ok experience!

  13. nope after 4 yrs you can apply for citizenship i dont know 3 or 4yrs im not sure..:)

NVC approved our expedite and mailed the file to London on the 12th. According to the DHL website it has arrived in the UK, So I am think it will be delivered tomorrow....:-)

    How did yours go?

  14. For now, keep in contact with DOS to know when your case was received by London.

And while you're waiting, get both packages ready to go. You'll either have to mail the two packages directly to London or they'll ask for you to bring it to the interview.

Once it's been confirmed that your case was received at London (which will probably be sometime next week), call up London and ask what you have to do next.

    Good luck!

Thank you Saylin for the information...as helpful as always...must gather my thoughts, and go through the huge file and umm get things sent over from the US!
