  1. So I had my interview today and I was APPROVED!!!

I was so nervous, still can't believe its finally over with and wasn't a dream! The woman was so friendly and upbeat, and said it'd take 7 working days to get my passport back. Does that sound about right? So I should plan on booking my plane ticket next week?

I'll post a review up later. So thrilled!

Good luck with everybody who is still waiting for theirs :)

NICE WORK JINGO.........HERE IS WAITING FOR THE PASSPORTS IN THE POST....I AM HOPING FOR A AUGUST 19TH DEPARTURE

  2. Hey everyone,

My interview is only a week and a bit away now so I'd like to make sure I have everything I'll need. So far I've gathered:

    • Appointment letter
    • MRV receipt
    • Birth certificate & photocopy (with both parents name on it)
    • 2 US size passport photos (do I need 2 or 3?)
    • Deed poll & photocopy (changed surname when parents got divorced)
    • Passport and photocopy of main passport page just in case
    • Police certificate & photocopy
    • My bank statement just in case
    • Copy of vaccinations and medical results
    • Boarding pass from when I last visited my SO (just incase)

as for the I-134 here goes:

    • 2 original, signed i-134 forms
    • Letter from company
    • W2s from last year
    • Tax return from 2010 (notarised)
    • SO's bank statement saying he has $30,000 in savings
    • 5 Pay slips
    • More bank statements from Feb '11 onwards

My SO is still a full-time university student and has a part-time job that pays a little less than the federal poverty line but he will make up for it with his savings, which he inherited from his grandparents, and are his own personal funds to use how he pleases. I also have a notarised letter written by the grandmother proving this. The embassy isn't likely to question that money, right? That's the only thing I'm worried about.

    Not long now!

    JINGO JANGO!!!

YEAP........that list sounds pretty similar to mine.

I am kinda thinking whether I need to bring the (JUST IN CASE DOCUMENTS ) with me....I guess there's no harm in just bringing my whole compact folder...like you said...JUST IN CASE :)

It's kinda crazy how many times I have checked my list of things to bring..............I have been to the EMBASSY numerous times for my J-1 visas......so I know what to expect, BUT I'M STILL REALLY NERVOUS.......I guess it's just a big deal....the next phase of our lives. My interview is a week tomorrow..........can't wait :)

    GOOD LUCK JINGO :)

  3. Hello Hello Hello.....

As the weeks slowly roll into one another, my along awaited interview is on the horizon ( FINALLY, AUG 5TH )

I just wanted to check something, now the I-134 documents my fiance USC has sent contain,

    - two original copies of the I-134 form

-A letter from her workplace containing details of her hours and pay

-The past 6 months pay slips

-Balances and payments from her bank account.

    That's everything right?!

We don't have a joint sponsor as we don't require one, HOWEVER do I need to include a copy of her 2010 tax return? I didn't see that requirement in this list

    Instructions for the I-134

    Execution of Affadavit

A seperate affidavit must be submitted for each person. You, as the sponsor, must sign the affidavit in your full, true and correct name. You are signing this form under penalty of perjury under U.S. law.

    Supporting evidence

The sponsor must submit, in duplicate, evidence of income and resources, as appropriate.

    A. Statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institution in which you have deposits giving the following details regarding your account:

    date account opened

total amount deposited for the past year

    present balance

    B. Statement of your employer on business stationery, showing:

    date and nature of employment

    salary paid

whether position is temporary or permanent

    C. If self-employed:

copy of last income tax return filed, or

    report of commercial rating concern

    D. List containing serial numbers and denominations of bonds and name of record owner(s).

I am slowly losing patience with this process, haven't seen my fiance since Jan 5th...........ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

    Much LOVE as always :)

  4. little_g how long was it before the embassy rescheduled your interview? I got my date last thursday (8th aug) and its a lot later than I wanted so I called them and they gave me the email code. I emailed them a really polite request yesterday morning but expect I wont hear anything from them for a while because of the 4th july long weekend.

    Hey Jingo,

I see you have a similar appointment date to mine ( August 5th ). I emailed the special email code also before the weekend, so I too hope to hear something a little earlier as I really want to be there for the beginning of August.

Good luck with getting a change

  5. Hey Guys,

So I am about to sound like an absolute idiot.

Here goes, so for some reason I put down a middle name on all my forms, which is now on all my correspondence documents etc etc...HOWEVER there is one slight problem....turns out that the middle name I was actually putting down was actually my confirmation name.My passport and birth certificate just note my surname and forename.....because I don't have a middle name.

I phoned the DOS, and the woman told me that it shouldn't be an issue, but let the embassy know. I also phoned the VISA payment RIPOFF.COM number in London and explained my situation, and the woman told me to email the consular London address and explain my mistake.

My interview is scheduled for the 5th of August, do you guys think this is going to be a big deal, I feel sooooo stupid, I have filled out numerous J-1 visa forms and never made a mistake, and now I drop an clanger like this.

I need my mind puttiing at rest........won't hear back from London consular for days

    Any thoughts guys???

  6. Nice work DIZZYLOX

It's nice to hear that you hustled you way to an earlier appointment date. I hope to hear something by the end of June regarding my date. BTW if I do receive a date in August not July, is there any kind of approach you used to move your date???? I understand being nice always helps, but do you need to give a specific reason etc etc????

    Thanks

  7. Hey Guys,

At this point having read conflicting reports about the correlation between the "date of your wedding you put down on your readiness form" and your "appointment date at the embassy". I decided to call the embassy in ( London ) and just ask them straight up.

This is pretty much what the woman said when I asked her the question regarding wedding and appointment dates

" The date of you wedding is one of many factors taken into consideration, however it is by no means the single most important factor regarding the booking of an appointment date "

She went on to further say

" If you do receive an appointment date that is not suitable, you can email the embassy and ask if you can re-schedule an appointment for an earlier date, IF that's possible.

I kinda think it clears it up a little, not a 100%

I guess for future applicants, once you have sent your PACKET 3 DOCS, HAD THE MEDICAL, AND GATHERED ALL YOUR NECESSARY DOCUMENTATION, PUT DOWN AN EARLY ISH WEDDING DATE.

I PUT DOWN THE 30TH OF AUGUST........STILL WAITING FOR MY PACKET 4

    I hope this helps?

  8. Advocator sorry to hear about your traffic violation predicament.......hopefully you can find a solution to that problem.

Alex & Rach.......thanks for your post, I found it interesting that you mentioned the importance of trying to enjoy your family and friends before you leave.......as inevitably like you said, once you make the move to the U.S it's not easy to see friends or family as regularly as you would like. I am living at home currently just to save as much $$$$$$$$ as I can....so I am seeing my folks and friends all the time, I am going to miss them forsure...but I am just soooooooooooooo ready to kick on with my life. I suspect it'll be a case of " you don't miss something until it's gone kinda thing"

I got the DS230 form send back the other day because I had made a mistake on one of the questions, sent it back off the same day, they should receive it today, I guess it's good that they were looking at my forms anyways. Here's hoping for a quick turnaround............INTERVIEW LET'S GOOOOOOOO!

So another week begins.....let's get some GOOD NEWS REGARDING INTERVIEW DATES

    ALL THE BEST X :)

  9. When me and my fiance first looked into the K-1 VISA, we were like, YEAH 5-8 months we can do that...it's long a time, but we can do it. I never knew how hard it was going to be, I mean the 1st stage....the LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG wait for the NOA2 was ok, I guess because we knew it was going to be long. After receiving that, for some reason I thought the process was going to be EASY.....hahahaha...HOW WRONG I WAS. I guess what I'm trying to say is that through every stage of this process, your heart jumps a beat, you become anxious, nervous, you don't want to miss a beat in the process by not sending in the right forms on time etc etc. I had my medical last week and sent my packet 3 forms in also...now I guess it's a wait...for the elusive appointment date..........

I have used this website since day 1, for information, support and personal experiences .I have immense RESPECT FOR EVERYONE GOING THIS JOURNEY/ADVENTURE.....IT TAKES GUTS, PATIENCE AND FAITH...........

I just wanted to put that out there in the VISA universe.........much love to you all.

MESV......waiting for packet 3 to be logged.

A HIGH FIVE AND A HUG TO ANYONE THAT NEEDS ONE :)

  10. Hey Guys,

So I kinda think I know the answer to my query, but I'd guess I would like a little more reassurance. Okay here goes......I have my medical this Thursday ( 9th June ) in London, I called the DOS 2 days ago and the woman said "YES" the LONDON EMBASSY had received and logged my case from the NVC, and "YES" the LONDON EMBASSY has mailed out packet 3.Soooooooooooo I guess once I receive "PACKET 3" I return it with the necessary forms and letter of readiness to the appropriate address etc etc.....

Now once London logs my packet 3, do I then pay for my MRV receipt etc etc prior to the interview?...then I just wait for PACKET 4 to arrive with the appointment date right????

    Any feedback would be great......:)

  11. So I called the NVC today....and I'll be dammed...they had my LND CASE NUMBER......GREAT NEWS....from my NOA2 approval date which was the 24th of April til the 18th of May it took 17 working days.....

    Now for the medical \;0

  12. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

    YOUR POST IS AWESOME...GREAT INFORMATION.........

I WILL MOVE FORWARD AND GIVE YOUR TACTIC A TRY

    A HUG, A HIGH FIVE, AND A HANDSHAKE..THANKS :)

  13. ZEDBRAGIRL

I have just looked at your timeline....and seeing the fact it took 4 weeks for yours to come through has soften the blow......I hope it's not 90 days....oh man that would suck.

    :)

  14. Yeah I am referring to the LND 10 digit case number you are issued by the NVC once your NOA2 had been approved. I am the beneficiary, I really was under the impression that the new case number that your issued by the NVC...literally takes days to come through...not weeks :(

    NOA1- Nov 17TH 2010

    NOA2- APRIL 24TH 2011

    NOA2 HARD COPY- APRIL 27TH 2011

Any more info on the waiting times would be great. I have spoken to someone from the NVC and they said email a scanned copy of my NOA2 to a email address and hopefully they'll respond?????

Any more info would be great

Sorry yes it is a UK case....

  15. Hey Guys,

I have tried my best to search through the plethora of posts, threads and comments regarding my issue, but I still have come up short on some things.

Firstly, we received our NOA2 on the 24th of April, and I was under the impression, based on other peoples timelines that you received your LND number within a week from the NVC. We called the NVC and they told us it takes 15 working days to receive the LND number. So as it stands it had been 16 working days ( 3 weeks ) since our NOA2 and we still haven't been issued a LND CASE number.

Is this amount of time normal? I am sorry to ask what may seem such an obvious question to some, but I really don't know the answer....any help or feedback on this issue as always on this forum would be of GREAT HELP.

    THANKS FELLOW VJERS

    MATT & SHARIFA
