  2. Hello VJ Family!!!

I'm sooo happy! my wife interview in Moscow went great and her visa was approved! yay!!!

    Some questions they asked,

    Question: How did you meet?

    Answer: International Cupid

Question: when did you get married, ( eventhough they already knew answer from case file)

    Answer: November 2010

I can't remember the rest on the questions but I will provide the details later under embassy reviews. sorry

but most importantly, contrary to what NVC told me, which was that my wife does not need translation of original civil documents because immigration officers in Moscow speak Russian is not true. They do need notorized translation of all civil documents. luckily we had two of them and the rest we can send via email to embassy. Visa was still approved.

I'm so happy, now the real journey begins!

I want to thank the VJ community for their support and encouraging feedback! I would've lost my mind without you guys!!Thank you!

  3. I had a post on this very topic just a month and a half ago. For CR-1 or IR-1 only PICK UP at PONY EXPRESS is available. DO NOT choose your home address, choose one of the 5 PE locations in Moscow. There is no barcode, they will put a barcode sticker on this sheet at the Embassy.

You will get a text message on your phone when passport is ready for pick up. You just go to the PE location with the domestic passport and pick it up.

Here's the thread on this topic: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/332329-trouble-with-ustraveldocs/page__p__4935932

Wow! thank you so much! my wife's Visa was approved yay!!!

  4. Hello VJ Family,

My wife's interview is this Wendesday 11/09/11 in Moscow and we overlooked a step on the "specific embassy instructions", the details are below.

"If your visa application is approved, we will put your visa in your passport and send the completed visa packet and passport to you by Pony Express courier at no extra charge. Prior to your appointment date, you must go to

www.ustraveldocs.com/ru/ and follow the steps to register and arrange for delivery of your visa and documents.

Please do this for ALL applicants that will be applying for a visa (including children). Please register your delivery location BEFORE going to your interview. If you do not, there may be a delay in the return of your visa.

After completing the visa delivery registration at www.ustraveldocs.com/ru/ you should PRINT out the IV Delivery Confirmation page that contains a computer-generated barcode and BRING IT with you to the interview. If you do not, there will be a delay in the return of your visa."

so we printed the PDF document expecting the above results but we noticed that it did not have a barcode.

what we did noticed are the following,

    Applicant name - My wife

    passport# XXXXXXXXX

    US embassy - Moscow

Trip purpose - Russia NVC Scheduled appointment

    Visa class - CR1

Document delivery type - Home Delivery

but no barcode, why? do we really need this? I thought the NVC letter with interview date and time was enough.

is the delivery method still pony express or DHL? their intructions document is date 7/18/2011, I hope is still current?

    Thank you!

  5. Hi Julia,

I'm a US citizen and my wife is a Russian citizen, we are currenty on the CR-1 path at the NVC stage. Just recently submitted the DS-230 form and supporting civil documents. I was a little confused with the civil documents requirement so I called NVC and spoke to two different operators and both told me the same thing.

Question: Do I need to submit with the DS-230 original Russian civil documents?

Answer: No. Moscow Embassy (I don't about other Embassies) does not require original civil documents (marriage, birth certificates etc). But Beneficiary (my wife) must bring originals to interview.

Question: so then do these photocopies require certified translations?

Answer: No, since interview is taking place in Moscow and wife must bring originals which are in the Russian language do not require translations. Immigration officers at Embassy read and understand both English and Russian.

Question: I have aposstille stamp on our marriage certificate, do you (NVC) need it? They said it is not necassary. Which is a good thing because I have the original marriage certificate with original aposstille stamp. my wife has a cerified copy of our marriage certicate from ZAGS but it states on the upper right corner "duplicate" and does not have an oposstille stamp which can cause an issue at interview issince I have it and would need to mail it.... I think I will bring it with me when I visit her in 2 weeks. its been almost 6months since we held each other.

in Summary Photocopies of Russian Civil documents are ok at the Moscow US Embasssy but beneficiary must bring originals. No certified translations or Aposstille stamp needed.

You can call NVC at 603.334.0700 and confirmed. Most operators I spoke with were really nice and helpful.

    Good Luck in your Journey!

information on this link is general. to get specific requirement details I recommend calling them instead.

  6. I think you will be better of with the CR-1 path, it is what we are doing and soon to be done with NVC. If you need any help just drop me a line. Congrats on your marriage! I'm so happy for you guys! Glad I was of help. maybe when this all done or sooner just return the favor to someone who needs help :) again if you need anything just let me know. Jose

  7. We did last Month. My wife had a tourist visa interview. had a good case, with ties to country. but as soon as she said that her husband lives in the US, they did not bother to look at her documents and rejected it. Albeit, Russia is not a waiver country. that's what I've been told. we were disapointed but still keeping the hope alive that soon all of this waiting will be over. There is nothing wrong with trying. all they can say is no.
