  1. Crumb...now I don't know what to do. I've clearly messed up. Somehow I missed submitting the birth certificate on the original document list and that's why it was RFE'd...in its place I submitted the passport. :bonk: I realize that now...

So I've submitted for the long form BC, but I'm not sure if I should wait for that or just send in the short form...

Thoughts? At this point, what's a couple of weeks, right? Will his A/P be affected by the RFE?

Is your husband the American? I don't believe we ever submitted my husbands birth certificate, just his passport. But the Canadian definitely needs to submit the long form birth certificate.

I'm the American, he's the Canadian...but I did most of the paperwork since it was so complicated. Now I'm thinking he should have worked on it. :)

  2. We just received notification for RFE for a copy of my husband's birth certificate for his I-485. We submitted a copy of his entire passport and thought either or was adequate. Everything I've read said that either the passport or the birth certificate was okay. Has anyone else been RFE'd for similar evidence?

Did you submit the birth certificate card or have to submit the long form birth certificate? Currently we only have the birth certificate card, which is the main reason I didn't submit both in the first place...

Grrrr....so stinking frustrated right now... :(

  3. Awww, I totally get it. I burned my toast today and got teary eyed (our interview's in 3 days). Everyone thinks I'm nuts!

At least now you have the hard copies, you can take the case numbers and sign up for text/email notifications online. Hang in there.

If I'm this bad at this point, I can't even imagine what life will look like by the interview. Lord Jesus, help us all.

I'm just glad there are people on this forum that understand...

    Good luck to you!

  4. So weirdest thing...I never got a text/email saying they'd received everything, even though I'd included the form. The only thing I can think of is that somehow my rubber band broke and it got separated from everything else (the rest of the package was securely bound together with clips). Has anyone else ever had this happen? I've nearly had heart failure the past few days waiting for that stinking notification. My husband literally goes into an overstay on August 2nd and we need that A/P! Geesh.

I saw that the checks were cashed today, and broke into tears in the middle of OfficeMax. Can you say STRESS? LOL. My friends and family think I've gone off the deep end.

  5. Would someone mind checking these over for my concurrent filing for I-130 and I-485 please?

  6. Not sure if this is helpful, but Progressive doesn't care what country the vehicle is licensed in (i.e. Canada) and will insure a Canadian driver and vehicle at a US garaged address, even on a month-to-month basis.

  7. My husband just did his medical this week and no flu shot was required. Hypnos is correct in his dates; however there were no shots "included" with the medical exam. We had to pay for each vaccination. It was recommended by other VJ'ers (wisely) to call around to see what different clinics charged for the exam and shots. I found a lot of variation and even got hung up on when I didn't book the appointment right away!

  8. Last STUPID question, I promise. :bonk:

If we DON'T file for the 1-765...will he be eligible to work in the US...like, ever? Or is the I-765 what is needed to do that? I had been reading the I-765 as an advancement on work authorization before the AOS is processed, but now I'm thinking it's the only way to get an EAD at all??

These packages have really made me lose brain cells. :D

  9. Here's a question that may be a bit trickier for someone to answer...

My husband actually is working for a Canadian company right now and telecommuting (not looking for an answer about this...the immigration attorney didn't even know answers for what is appropriate there). As soon as we get his SSN, we'll be changing everything into US dollars and tax info, so basically the I-765 just expedites getting a SSN, and I correct??

  10. Must depend on the state- I've done this but it's been years. I'm sure here (in California) it was called a quit claim deed or something like that.

But, like others have said you can't just add someone to your mortgage. You need a whole new loan for that. You can add anyone to the title though. At one point I had like 5 people on the title to my house. (Don't ask. )

5 people! You're cracking me up today.

Yes, a Quitclaim Deed can work too, and I'm sure it varies from state to state as well! I'm in Oregon. Investigate your own laws from your own county recorder. My title company was quite helpful!

  11. My husband is ready to go for his medical exam here in the US (AOS). Since he's covered under my medical insurance policy, would that be covered, or do we have to pay cash for the exam? It appears he would need a tetanus shot, so I'm wondering if it's better to get that before the exam in advance with our family doctor with coverage. Thoughts?

  12. From what I've found out, you can add them to the Title by using a Bargain and Sale Deed. NOT easy to find, but the lady at the title company took pity on me and gave me two copies of the legal document today. I had to mail it to the county for processing. Basically it is what I would have had to do to change my last name anyway (probably wouldn't have cared because it was such a pain!) but since I'm up to my eyeballs in this stuff anyway, what the heck, right?? :P
